Question for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
How do I defeat cannons and gun turrets (ex. In 2-Eye Reef)?Whenever I try to shoot them with the on-board cannon, I miss completely and the gun turrets/cannons kill me!

Well, just try and hit them with your cannon. I'm not sure there is any other way. For you, I would recommend getting the biggest bomb bag from the fairies so you have more tried. Try and go for the easier ones first, so they won't be firing at you when you are going for the harder ones.

Make your cannon face to the right or left of the boat then camera lock so it wont move.You can move the boat while shooting so you don't get hit..Set the cannon to the right hight and start blastin.Keep adjustin the hight untill you hit the wall cannon.

You just have to be fast - take out the Ships first, then the Cannons on the walls; if they do hit you, you'll fall out of your boat, but once you get back, as long as you don't move, they won't shoot at you again...
P.S. Make sure you do the other 5 Reefs too...

I went through the reefs with no problem. All you have to do is get up against the wall the cannon firing is on and bomb it from your boat. It may take a few bombs at first, but once you get the hang of it you will be able to nail it with one bomb every time. If there is any treasure in the water inside the reefs, get that after you blow up all the cannons, because if you leave and come back the cannons will be firing at you again.

With Bombs or the Boomerang. Remember: that the Boomerang needs two hits but can be used from where the cannons can't shoot at you.
Great hint: Have you been seeing those watch towers out in the sea? If you have, then you probably know that most of them have cannons too? When you destroy them something good will happen. Instead of shooting at them from the sea, drop a bomb right above them on the watch tower floor to destroy them.
(This only work with the watch towers)

Actually you can use your boomerang to take out the ones on the walls of bomb island and the ones on the platforms. You just need to hit them twice. Plus it is easier and more cost effective.

Just sail away. If you are really wanting to kill them then get really close to one and then use your bomb cannon on the ship. It's a lot easier to hit that way.
