I don't have the move Flame Lance yet so I can't really help you but go to tales of symphonia forums , dragoon king posted how to.

I don't have Kratos anymore so...

Now I've beaten Seles in the arena. It's pretty simple. If you're using Lloyd for instance make sure that in your tech you have guardian. When she does Absolute just hop out of the spell completely. When she does Freeze Lancer use guardian and it will decrease damage by loads. Then when she starts running toward you and stuff just hit here a few times. She doesn't take that long to kill. Once you slash her a few times , she's down.

And for Genis ' moves well ....just keep gaining levels and check the forums.

1st/4th-Flame Lance and all other moves..

The trick here is that Genis must go striking not technical. For example if he is technical he will know eruption but if he is striking (Type) He will know Flame Lance.

The type you are greatly modifies your techniques for Genis. How you go striking and technical choosingly (Incase you didn't know) are your EX-Gems. Each Ex-Gem skill you have has a type.

For example. (These are lvl 1 skills) Strong= Striking skill, Magician=Technical Skill. So anyway the way you choose your guy to learn Flame Lance is to turn him into striking and not technical.

WARNING! WARNING THOUGH! When you turn striking you will have to forget some of your technical moves. Like... (left side is what you learn, right side you have to forget in order to learn)
Flame Lance=Eruption
Grave=Stalagmite
Spark Wave=Thunder Blade
Freeze Lancer=Ice Tornado
Aqua Laser=Spread
Air Blade=Air Thrust
But heres what really good...YOU LEARN LIGHT MOVES! =) (And here are the mixture moves)
Prism Sword
Thunder Arrow=Indignation
Spiral Flare= Raging Mist
Earth Bite=Ground Dasher
Absolute=Gravity Well
So unfortunatly Genis can't learn all of his moves. But I would go with Striking Genis instead of technical.

2. Kratos's moves
As I said before Striking and Technical will never make you learn all of your moves. But I'll put up an example (The number isn't true)
Demon Fang= 50 times before learning Fierce Demon Fang. The thing that makes you learn techniques is the number of times you use the technique that is needed.

Now sometimes you will not know but sometimes it is easy to find out (Like the demon fang and fierce demon fang) Kratos and Zelos though have VERY Little change when they turn striking and technical (Striking left, technical right)
Fierce Demon Fang=Double Demon Fang
Super Lightning Blade=Hurricane Thrust

Like I said for an explanation on how to turn striking and technical refer to above in the genis section. However Kratos will never learn all of his moves until you choose him in Flanoir instead of Zelos.

(When he joins you before you fight Mithos he will know Judgement as well as get two titles (Judgement and Dad, Judgement is that costume he wore when he was your enemy) If you choose Zelos he will learn nothing.

3. Seles
Seles can be very difficult since you are wounded and you can't use items the best person to be would be Kratos or Zelos. Or if you've played through the gaem at least twice and you at least have to have 2x EXP and the devils arms don't hurt to have. But like I said if you have those you might be able to do it with Lloyd. But like I said.

Kratos and Zelos will be best since they know First Aid+ or maybe even better (healing wind, healing stream) Just a tip.

If you chose Kratos instead of Zelos then when Zelos dies after you view the final scene but DON`T, I REAPEAT DON`T FIGHT MITHOS! Then Seles will get angry about you about killing her brother and she will challenge you at the end of the advanced colliseum again.

If you beat her you get Kratos & Zelos`s best weapon the last fencer. If you beat her again you get the same prize. But if you can`t wait...My advice is to go behind her so you can avoid her freeze lancer and always stay moving and maybe jumping so you can avoid her absolute.

5-Ending
I hope this is all been useful or else I`m going to be extremly and I mean EXTREMLY annoyed. I`m out of here.
