They cannot be dodged. Sometimes if you are on a certain level like the one in star cup I think it's called DK Mountain or something like that, when you go through the thing that shoots you to the top of the mountain when you are being chased by a blue shell it will disappear because it can't hit you while you are in the air. But otherwise I'm pretty sure they are unavoidable. Good luck!!!

Oh yes they can. You don't need a star, but it helps. The blue shell will come up behind you,and pause just before it hits you. You need to build up to a red flame then just as it goes for you, boost away and more often than not you can dodge it. I have dodged two in a race many times, without a star or mushroom.

I heard if you boost right before it hits, it will miss, but I haven't tried it yet, so it might not work.

Take almost any shortcut that you can find, it's harder for them to find you then, sometimes it doesnt work tho, just work on it

There are three ways use a star while flying up donky kong mountain and on rainbow road there is a part near the end where you are sent upwards in a wierd light thing and if one hits there you are immune.

You can avoide blue shells but it is very tricky and you need a mushroom you wait till the sighn shows up on the bottom you will also here it to so when it is above you com ing down hit the mushroom and it will hit the ground and not you
