Getting Regi Pokemon

by pokegamerty

Unlocking the Regis
-------------------

To unlock the Regi Ruins, first you will need to find:
	Pokemon with dig
	Pokemon with surf
	Pokemon with dive
Relicanth (found outside of Sootopolis underwater)
Wailord (Wailmer evolves at lvl 40, Wailmer can be fished with super rod in waters below Ever Grande City)
	Pokemon with fly

Get these pokemon and fly to Pacifidlog. Surf to the left, heading towards the currents. Take the farthest to the
bottom current you can find. Keep doing this until you come to a island with grey rocks and brown rock formations on it.
Go as far left on the island as you can, then walk down two spaces. Surf to the left. While surfing, you will pass
between two currents going toward each other. You should be in the line closest to the bottom current that is flowing up.
If not, when you land on the next island, move so that you are on the same line that the line above that current is. Now
go directly left and surf one more time. Now there should be a space to dive at. Use dive.

Now travel as far down as you can, then you will see marks on the wall. Talk to the marks. What it says is in Braille,
or blind writing. Normally Braille is little raised dots, but here it is a way of encoding messages. Below are the
translations.

Braille Translations : First room
Go up here.
(Talk to the Braille, Use dive)

Second room
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.,
Dig here.
(Braille alphabet; Talk to Braille that is farthest up, use dig)

Third room
In this cave we have lived. We owe all to the pokemon. But, we sealed the pokemon away. We feared it.
Those with courage, those with hope. Open a door. An eternal pokemon waits.
First comes Relicanth. Last comes Wailord.
(Regi story; Talk to Braille farthest up, Place Relicanth first and Wailord last in your pokemon lineup)

Three doors open far away; these doors are the entrances to Island Cave (Regice), Desert Ruins (Regirock)
and Ancient Tomb (Registeel).

Catching Regi
-------------

First, before fighting any Regi, save your game so that, in the case the Regi faints, you can turn the game off without
saving and try again.

To catch the Regi, I suggest a time waste strategy. First, buy some potions, preferably hyper potion, and then go to
Rustboro. At the pokemart, they have timer balls. Get 30 or so. These will be stronger the longer the battle takes.
Also, buy 21 pokeballs, and 21 pokeballs again. This will give you 42 pokeballs (explained later) and 2 premier balls,
supposedly the best ball for general use. Buy any revive or other things you might need, but the Regi dont know moves
that will paralyze or poison or etc, at least I dont think they do.

Now, get your pokemon with the highest hp that is resistant to fighting, rock, steel and ice. This will be your endure
pokemon. His job is to sit there and get hit to waste time. The potions are for this pokemon, as he will be hit quite a
lot. Now, for those pokeballs. Instead of attacking, you will use these to waste time (unless your pokemon knows 40 or
so of moves that inflict no damage) It is better to use poke balls to waste time than timer balls, as I did with my
battles. Oops. Anyway, use poke balls to waste time. Keep track of their moves if you like, but most importantly, watch
your pokemons hp. Make sure he doesnt faint even if that means giving him potions every three turns. The potion itself
wastes time. When the Regi starts to attack with only one of its attacks (it has run out of the others) start to use
timer balls and hope for the best. After it begins to struggle, it is more likely to be caught. However, struggle will
eventually knock out the Regi with recoil. Be sure to use those Timer Balls! They are the only ball I caught my Regi with.
Dont use your Master Ball here. Master Ball is best saved for Deoxys, which I havent caught or even seen. But, research
shows its the pokemon for the master ball.

Below is a log of what I did to catch each pokemon. The attacks that the Regi made are listed in order with PP left next
to the move name. The number next to the attempt name is the chronological number of attempts overall.

24 metal claw, paralyzed, 23 metal claw, 22 metal claw, 21 metal claw, 20 metal claw, 19 metal claw, 18 metal claw,
Registeel caught.
(I notice that Ancient Power was not completely used according to this and that it is very unlikely that a pokemon would
attack that many times in a row with the same move unless necessary, but for purposes of keeping this as accurate as
possible I did not insert an Ancient Power)
46 turns. Fainted Regice twice and Kyogre once. Blaziken withstood to see capture. 9 hyper potions, 2 revive,
30 poke balls and 12 timer balls used. (P28800) Caught with Timer Ball. No cheats activated.

Final Notes
-----------

Overall, Timer Ball strategy worked (thanks supercheats.com!) combined with a little strategy of my own
(paralyze, use pokeballs to waste time) Hopefully these Regi can give your team a nice edge or help fill out that
Pokedex. Go out and get some Regi!
