There are two ways you can tell if it is male or female.
1.You can tell by the sign right next to it's name. The arrow that faces up is the male and the arrow that is facing down is the female.
2.If the colour of the arrow is blue, it is a male. If it is pink, it is a female.

That's great help. My Steenee, Ninetales, And Magikarp are girls. My Cinncino is a boy.pokechick answered:
The sign beside the pokemon.... Go to your Pokemon in the menu and then select stats.... Look below the pokemon's picture...
