O.K. first off. If your asking which starter pok�mon you should use then..............

I chose Treecko (Grass Type)
He is also a dragon so he can use moves like:
Dragon Claw
Dragon Breath, etc.

Evolution Chain:
Treecko-Grovyle-Sceptile

Torchic (Fire Type)

Since he is Fire Type he can use these moves:

Ember
Overheat (POWERFUL)

Evolution Chain:
Torchic-Combusken-Blaziken

Mudkip (Water/Swamp Type)

Since he is water type he can use these moves:

Water Spout
Water Sport
Rain Dance
Surf
Waterfall
Dive

Evolution Chain:
Mudkip-Marshtomp-Swampert

You should try to train the kind of pokemon you like best first and then train the others to fill your pokedex.

I'd choose either Mudkip or Torchic as a starter, they have equally powerful stats, while Treecko has lesser stats. Also, Mudkip will be able to learn Surf right from when you get the HM.

Okay, just have a well balanced team of Pokemon types, like a Fire, Psychic, Dark, Flying, Water, and a Fighting Type all in one party, and teach them moves of their own type. That's all I can say...
