Question for Pokemon Sapphire

When you catch a wurmple, is it entirely up to chance to get a silcoon or a cascoon because I have 25 silcoons and only 2 cascoons? Dustox is not better than Beautifly when fighting against the Elite Four!!

P.S. I can always tell if it is going to evolve in to either one or the other!!

Yes, it is entirely up to the game as to whether or not you will recieve a Cascoon or a Silcoon.

Wurmple evolves into Silcoon if its Attack is higher than its Defense. It evolves in Cascoon if its Defense is higher than its Attack. I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.

It's not up to the game it depends on where you got it. If you catch it in the petalburg woods it will be a cascoon. If not it's a silcoon. But if you evolve it a level 16 it will be the opposite.

Yes it is always by chance. To be honest, actually, I think if you evolve wurmple at night time, it will evolve into a cascoon, giving you Dustox. And if you were to evolve it in the day then it would become a silcoon giving you a chance to get Beautifly.
