I'n my opinion it's Salamence, it's a dragon type also so you're gaining an even stronger Pokemon than basic flying type's like Swellow.

to get that you need to go to meteor falls and where you find the tm dragon claw run around that little bit of ground where the ball was and it shall appear but have PATIENCE as it can take a while to get. Then evolve it to shelgon which it will do at level 30 or more and then shelgon evolves into salamence at lvl 50

Flygon can be a good choice...it's dragon type and flying type..perfectly helpful throughout the game and better than salamance

BTW Flygon is Dragon-Ground not Dragon-Flying.

skarmory is the flying pokemon that i used when i played the game. theyre steel flying types and have insanely high defence. they learn some really strong moves too and you could get them at a fairly early stage in the game at around lvl 16

Go with Altaria or Swellow. BTW Flygon is Dragon-Ground not Dragon-Flying.
