Question for Pokemon Emerald

If you can't get all the Pokemon to complete your Pokedex, can you get them from other versions?

Why is there 1/3 of the Pokemon from each region in the pokedex if you have to get 200 Pokemon to complete your pokedex, instead of having all the Pokemon form the regions (over 400+ pokemon)?

Yes, you can.

I don't get your second question but Gamfreak intendo limit the Pokemon you can get in each game, so you need to trade and go to special events to get the other one.

Completed Pokedex
Master Volthawk answered:

Completing the pokedex is impossible without trading or using AR or GS codes. So yes, trade.

Zelda Fan answered:

Yes, you need the other games to get and trade to your Emerald game.

That's the idea! You can complete the Hoenn Pokedex by trading with Ruby/Sapphire to get Lunatone(Sapphire only), Meditite/Medicham, Surskit/Masquerain, Roselia, and Zangoose(Ruby only). You can trade ANY Pokemon from R/S into Emerald before you even beat the E4-after, you can trade from other games, too, like FR/LG, Colosseum, XD, to complete your Pokedex. Also, you don't need Jirachi or Deoxys to complete your Hoenn Pokedex, just the first 200, but you'll need them, as well as Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Celebi, and other Legendaries. I think you need almost every game to really complete the National Pokedex, plus some luck with getting Legendaries. But, the Hoenn one complete will get you a choice of Jhoto starters to add to your collection from Prof. Birch!
OK, there are only 386 in the National Pokedex, and this is to encourage you to buy and trade with the games-remember, this was a TRADING card game initially, so trading is still part of the theme. Besides the Kanto and Hoenn Pokemon, between the Sevii Islands in FR/LG, and the extra Safari Zone areas in Emerald, you can fill in a lot of the Jhoto(G/S/C) Pokemon, so that's some help. You don't really get anything (a star on your card) but bragging rights from completing the National one anyway, so don't sweat it too much, OK.

Yes you have to get them from other versions because it would be to easy if they were on one version and they have only 1/3 of Pokemon from each region because the rest are in the other versions.
