There was an e-reader thing like with R/S that scanned trainers into your game, but it was released Only In Japan for Emerald and FR/LG had a similar thing, too! Nintendo hates us in the USA! BOO! Can't do anything with it as far as I know, even with a walk through walls code-those are risky anyway!!

I hacked the ROM, and I found that there is only a hiker up there who you will walk directly to and he will read you 18 question marks. Then a few characters of garbage will be read in a text box, and then the game restarts. Sorry for the disappointment. I was really hoping that there would be a really cool event thing up there. What I want to know, though, is why Game Freak put it there. Thanks and have a great day!

You can't get behind them, even with walk through walls. It's a bummer really.

This is a section of the game designed for the eCard reader, a device that would connect to the gameboy and scan cards (similar to amiibo). Once connected, it would allow you to have battles depending on what card you have. They discontinued the card readers before emerald came out so unless you have it, it’s useless.
