Hitmonchan can learn elemental punches like thunder punch, fire punch and ice punch. Hitmonlee is better if you want a good fighting pokemon. It is up to you which on is better

They are both fairly equal in stats, but i'd say Hitmonlee.

Why ask? You can't get either of them in Emerald. You'd have to trade from Firered or Leafgreen. If you're trading from FR/LG, then I'd say that Hitmonlee is better. You might like Hitmonchan, but I personally like Hitmonlee.
