Question for Pokemon Emerald

Hi
I just got a game link cable and it works fine when I use it between ruby and emerald but when I try to trade between gold and emerald it says your friend is not ready why?

Because Gold can't communicate with Emerald!

I think you need to beat the elite four on both games apart from that it should work fine

That is because it is not possible to trade to the older versions. You can only trade from FR/LG to S/R/E.

Um... Dude, where have you been? You can only trade between Emerald and Sapphire, Ruby, Firered, and Leafgreen. But definately not with Gold, Silver, Crystal, Red, Blue, or Yellow. The reason is simple: you cannot trade between Jhoto and Hoenn, and to trade from Kanto, the game makers let you trade with Firered and Leafgreen, instead. The reason's why, though, I, and possibly anyone, can't explain. So, nothing's wrong with your game, if that's what you're wondering.

You can not trade with Emerald and Gold. Only with Ruby and Sapphire.
