Here are the Pokemon and there moves
1. Spinda
Level: 27
Type: Normal
Attacks: Teeter Dance, Facade, Psybeam, Encore

2. Vigoroth
Level: 27
Type: Normal
Attacks: Slash, Facade, Encore, Faint Attack

3. Linoone
Level: 29
Type: Normal
Attacks: Slash, Belly Drum, Facade, Headbutt

4. Slaking
Level: 31
Type: Normal
Attacks: Counter, Facade, Yawn, Faint Attack

To beat him use a stong fighting Pokemon level 29-35 I wont recommend a Pokemon I will let you decide that

Well,Iin order to beat the Petalburg gym get a fighting type pokemon.Like a combusken or blaziken.A combusken should know double-kick before LvL.30.Thats a powerful fighting move.Or get a machop and get it to learn low kick because it is more powerful on bigger foes,like slaking,and it's a fighting type move.(you can get a machop just outside lavaridge town or jagged pass).

All of them uses Normal Pokemon up to lvl 26-36 I think or lvl 26-32 , you use fighting Pokemon for easy win

Just watch out for these two attacks

These are the three attacks he uses most often

These two attacks are the ones to look out for.

Strategy: You don't need one, but you can beat him easily by using these startagies:

1)Focus on the Vigoroth and Slaking level 25, they are the ones that cause trouble
2) The Slaking level 33 uses focus punch mainly, attack him every two turns, the turn when he attacks, Focus punch is extremely powerful, but you can prevent him from using it when you attack him when he is tightening his focus.
3) Protect means defeating two of his Slakings.
4) Fighting types are useful
5) focus on attacking

I would maby use a Mukahita it has a spectacular Fighting moveset :D

You have to wait until you meet May and she says she's going to challenge your dad. (You have defeat the first 4 gyms)

Allegedly, using ghost Pokemon will allow you to "cream normal Pokemon" from a post I read somewhere else about this. I hope this answers your question.
