Altering Cave is there for the same reason as it is in FR/LG (not that you have that game, but....) - anyway, all you can find in there is Zubat; but if you go somewhere (I think you need to go to a Nintendo Event), the cave in your game will suddenly have many more Pokemon in it (about 8-10 extra species, uncatchable anywhere else in the game). {Sorry, but I do not know exactly which Pokemon you find in there for Emerald}.

BASIC ANSWER: Altering Cave is another way for Nintendo to introduce more Pokemon to the game. It is used to allow gamers the chance to catch rare Pokemon, uncatchable in any other cave or game/version.

Hi pokemaster796 here!
Ummm....there are only zubats in there and if you do a certain AR code or master code there will be some Pokemon like hoothoot and houndour and aipom some like the ones you get in safari zone so there is no use

P.s. No-one knows the AR code or master code sorry.
