How do you ride the horse that Barley gives you? If you need a Saddle to ride the horse, where do you get it from

You have to wait till it is fully grown which takes one full year after you get it.

My horse is already full grown and I'm on my second year and I still can't ride my horse.. Do I have to buy a saddle? Does something have to be done or do I have to go somewhere to meet someone to give it to me? Help please D: I played this game years ago when I got it and I'm trying to replay it and I can't figure out what I did differently
