Question for Golden Sun: The Lost Age

I'm in the cave thing in airs rock. At the puzzle where you have to push the pillars to the right position to fire whirlwind at a rock. I end up hitting a pillar in the middle. Y might not get this but plz try

You push the pillars to opposite sides, and use pound on the middle stones to make a path for the wirlwind.
