You gain a boat by helping Piers to get his black orb from the kibombo.....
Go back to madra and go to the elders house to know what happen and find a way to go to the kibombo village... There you will see Piers planning on how he will get his orb back.....After you finish the area,,,Go back to the boat you see before you found Madra....
Sorry if I Couldn't help you a lot but please understand what I say.... I am not much expert on this game but I am trying my bets to help......
