Ice Pokemon, rock Pokemon, ground for defense
Ice moves, rock moves,
I would say thunder but it doesnt do much to any of lances pokemon except the weaker ones, thunder is not super effective against his dragonites
For your best bet I would use ice pokemon/moves because it is good against all of lances Pokemon even charizard because it is fire/flying, so I guess they cancel each other out for ice
Draderade2 here. The best kind of Pokemon you can use are ice types. If you don't have ice types, the Pokemon such as machoke who you can teach ice punch too.
With ice you can defeat almost all dragons. DONT USE fire, lightning, or water. Each of those are week against him. Lance is the end elite 4, isnt he? (I havent played that game in quite a while.)
Then he has gyarados. I thought gyarados was dragon, I guess not, or ice would be normal against him. Use lighting against him, with either a lightning type or machoke (machokes helpful). You should have gotten Lugia with the master ball when you fight him.
So your team should consist of around a lvl 44 Lugia (so he has hydro pump, if not teatch him surf), a lvl 45 or higher machoke, I had a lvl 48 dragonaire, a lvl 45 flaffy, your starter Pokemon lvl 45, and another type that may help you on other elite 4 members.
Even with that team you may be in for a long battle(s) with lance. Please support me on super cheats.
It depends on your favorite types. If you just don't care then, it helps to train a Dragonite, Raticate or Pidgeot to 60 or above. If you prefer a certain type just say so and I can give you a type hint. If you restrict yourself to one type, here's a hint: train each Pokemon at a place swarming with the type it's weak against. This will boost it's resistance to that type.
For a straight forward answer: Ice or Flying.
Enjoy
Cronus.
Drogonite: use dragonite with dragon moves or a ather dragon(but I most has dragon moves).
Gyarados: a litning pokemon.
The flying fosil(forget it's name): a water pokemon.
Charizard: a water Pokemon to.
