Magikarp evolves at level 20 and turns into a dragon Pokemon called gyrados and you don't need a water stone plus you get magikarp from a man at the Pokemon center right before mt moon he'll sell it for 500 it's at level 5 I think I'm not sure maybe level 10 or 15

S u r correct .it didn't evolve into gyrados stillGuest answered:
Level 20 it evoles but DO NOT buy the one from the man in the Pokemon center as it will NOT learn any moves

Don't BUY Magikarp, it's a waste if they are low leveled, if you have a rod, go fishing they're very popular in ponds.
