Overwatch wins at the Game Awards

Blizzards exciting and unusual shooter, Overwatch, was an immediate hit with many gamers when it was released earlier this year. But it was uncertain how far the novelty would go in keeping players interested in the game.

But its success in the recent Game Awards for 2016 shos that its appeal is continuing and gamers and the industry are still in love with its take on the action shooter genre.

Selected by a jury from a short list of public nominations, Over watch won the top prize for Game of the Year, 'Recognizing a game that delivers the absolute best experience across all creative and technical fields.' It beat the other nominees: Uncharted 4, Inside, Doom and Titanfall 2.

As well as that honour the game was also awarded with:

Best Studio/Game Direction: "Recognizing a game studio for outstanding creative vision and innovation in game direction and design."

Best Multiplayer Game: "For outstanding online multiplayer gameplay and design, including co-op and massively multiplayer experiences. "

And also a publicly voted fans choice award for Best Esports Game: "The eSports game that has demonstrated creative and technical excellence in 2016 with the best gameplay, community support and content updates."
