It doesn't have many scary characters- the game is only about a kid with psychological characters and a Special Forces Team, but still you won't be comfortable playing it alone at night. It is slightly inspired from the Japanese horror movies. The game will put you in the shoes of a military personnel named Point Man who has unusual reflexes. Your job is to capture a creepy cannibal who is controlling an army of super soldiers. This itself is scary enough but it doesn't end here. You also have to deal with a scary looking girl named Alma with super powers. The designers of this game has masterfully combined Japanese horror and American action elements. The result is a brilliant, horror game with an extremely clever script.

The game slowly and steadily builds up the suspense and it has full of creepy, pin drop silent scenes. Small things here and there like Alma's snorting and getting turned into cheese by the soldiers, adds to the fear . Overall F.E.A.R has perfectly combined combat, horror and has plenty of genuinely scary moments that makes it one of the best horror games.
