Top 10 Scariest Pokemon
#9 - Yamask
Yamask, the spirit Pokemon, is the next Pokemon in our countdown.
Yamask is another one of those Pokemon that were given a sad story for their biography. Even though it's unfortunate, and unlike the cases of Spoink and Cubone, it's still a very scary Pokemon.
You might not think it's such a scary Pokemon at first glance, since it looks like a Pokemon that just carries around a basic mask, but it goes deeper than that. Its Pokedex Entries from both Pokemon Black and White read (together), "These Pokémon arose from the spirits of people interred in graves in past ages. Each retains memories of its former life. Each of them carries a mask that used to be its face when it was human. Sometimes they look at it and cry."
I know... It's a lot to take in. To get it it straight, Yamask is the spirit of a person who died. Obviously these spirits can cope with the fact that they are dead, so they go to their bodies and remove their once face. They then carry it around with them at all time, and while doing so, they like to wallow in their misery by looking at it, which brings them to tears. The constant reminder must keep at tears at all times, because the red eyes are a dead give away for that. At some point, it takes revenge out on others by evolving and eating people, which, at that time, it turns them into mummies. For some reason, you're able to find these unsettled spirits in the wild and catch them as if they are Pokemon (which somehow they are). I know... It makes no sense. You'd think people/trainers would want to help these spirits rest in peace, instead of doing their bidding in battle. That is... If you're not scared by the site of them. Do remember that they are haunting spirits in constant misery, who will eventually take your life (as a Cofagrigus) and turn you into a mummy.

Well, Gengar will still be my favorite pokemon no matter what. ;) Second fav is Gastly, and next fav is Haunter. (And I love how Wikipedia says Gengar is popular with males. I'm female. ^_^)
But Pokedex entries can't describe every individual pokemon's behavior. Gastly in "The Tower of Terror" episode, the Gastly in "The Ghost of Maiden's Peak," and Officer Jenny's Gastly all had different behaviors and personalities. It's like how if pokemon could write a pokedex entry of human beings, they might say something like "Human beings rob, murder, torture, and many other things I would prefer not to say." But clearly not all human beings do that. Just like Ash's friend Haunter didn't have any desire to lick Ash or his friends to death. The "Tower of Terror" episode Gengar was definitely a lot friendlier and more benign than the Gengar in "The Ancient Puzzle of Pokemopolis" too.
But aside from these things, this article was fun to read. ^_^
Hypno can be FRIENDLY!!!!!!!! If he can eat your dreams he can also eat your nightmares. Which is good. And here's a sneak peak of my list. Scariest Pokemon ever:Darkrai
This list totally needs Darkrai...
Yep.
in the original Japaneses version it doesn't say Dusknoir takes people to the "spirit world" it say it takes them to the UNDERWORLD.
No Darkrai? Dude he feeds off people's nightmares and he can do that from 4 miles away, also no giratina but these pokemon are horrifying. And why is spoink in the mentions????
Spoink isn't a Pokemon that didn't make the cut. Splint is downright NOT scary
