It's quite the same with the other Yu-gi-oh! Games. I don't see much difference with the other games, but this one has a more interesting storyline, to say the least. Unlike Yu-gi-oh GX spirit caller for the DS, you can change dorms here in this game. I guess that's what I like best about it.
Oh, the graphics are great, especially in the background. I like the sea... It looks so real...
As for the characters, mostly Jaden, Syrus and Chumley, are pretty nice. They're realistic and look a lot like the ones in the TV shows. The graphics in the battles are pretty "under" the graphics in the DS version.
The sound is nice, and I especially like the part when you're about to win. It's like even the song is congratulationg you! But I must admit, it's quite repetitive since almost the same song is played over and over again. I just noticed though, the sounds are different when you are at different places. It's like, when you're at the forest, the music is different than when you're at school.
Hmm... The battles are nice and the tests are GREAT, but it lacks something. The battles are quite hard at times, and quite boring too. Taking the written exams is my favorite part of the game even if sometimes it IS too hard to figure out. But battling with the Obelisk blue students are a blast! I mean, it's more exciting than just battling Chumley or Syrus. Oh, and Zane is not that hard to beat.
The game is long(at least for me). I've played it for months although I do get bored sometimes. The game is too repetitive! I mean, in a month you have to take the exams, change dorms, earn DP, receive DP, and that's all you'll ever do! Well, not really all... But still... It's what makes the game long.
Like what I said, the game is "under" compared to it's DS version(it's not it's fault). Plus the game is really repetitive, and that's what really sucks! I'll say it again: In a month you have to take the exams, change dorms, earn DP, receive DP, and that's all you'll ever do. It's quite boring because of that. Aside from that, the game is pretty nice, and it won't hurt to try it.
