Somervile Cheats and Tips

Somerville is an alien themed sci-fi adventure game played from a third-person perspective with platform game-like elements and physics-based puzzles. We have several cheats and tips that will help you to progress in the game which is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Somerville Trailer

Somerville is presented without dialogue or narration, instead using the setting, environments, and animations to tell the story. You control the father of an everyday family as an alien invasion begins, and must guide the family across various environments, some of which are patrolled by alien creatures and machines.

Somerville Cheats, Tips Strategy

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include how to interact with objects in the environment to advance the story and why you should pay attention to the head movement of your character when you are lost.

  • Interact with Objects

In order to progress the story in Somerville you need to assess your immediate environment and determine which objects are interactable. To interact with objects so that you pull, push, carry, or turn them you simply have to press X on your Xbox controller. Objects that are moveable will stand out in some way in order to get your attention.

This can be in the form of a stand-out color or flashing lights. It is essential that you interact with objects as it will enable you to complete puzzle challenges or open pathways to new areas.

  • Run and Hide in Chapter 4

When you reach Chapter 4 and venture into the woods, a purple light from above will hone in on you. When this happens you must try and outrun it as quickly as possible. If you try escaping it by climbing over the fence you will die.

The way to get away from it is to run and hide in the small tent to the right of the fence until the eerie light leaves. Once it has gone you can emerge from the tent and safely climb over the fence and continue your journey.

  • How to Solve the Light Puzzle in Chapter 5

In Chapter 5 you will be required to solve a light mechanism puzzle using two string lamps. The problem is one of the lamps isn't quite long enough to clear the area at first. The solution to the problem is simple, you just have to unwrap the lamp wiring from around the circular stage.

  • Learn Light Patterns

In order to know when to move to safety and survive in Somaville it is crucial that you watch and learn light patterns as you progress through the game. Knowing the timing of the lights can be the difference between dying and staying alive.

  • Pay Attention to Head Movements

Whenever you are unsure as to where you should be going you simply have to look at your character's head movements as more often than not he will look toward the direction you need to venture in.

Pay attention to this in Chapter 4 when you are exploring the woods as your character's head turns towards explorable pathways which might not be completely obvious from the camera angle.
