How to get The Cave Achievement/Trophy

To get The Cave achievement/trophy you need to find the smiling creature in a little cave on the Nakasendo. You will be able to unlock this secret achievement/trophy on Mission 2: Nakasendo Road when you encounter Yuki near the start of it. If you do not move the camera when you start the mission you will be able to find the cave in question almost directly below Yuki's spawn point. When you take control of Yuki she will be facing the rock but if you turn, so she is facing the bottom of the screen (move her 180 degrees) you will see a small cave near a bush. If you now approach the cave a pair of white eyes and a white smile will briefly appear, and you will unlock the achievement/trophy.

How to get the No Gimmicks Achievement/Trophy

To get the secret No Gimmicks achievement/trophy you must use Hayato's stone to rescue Mugen in Osaka Castle. You can unlock the achievement/trophy 10-15 minutes into Mission 1: Osaka Castle when you need to help Mugen proceed to the gate. When the game instructs you to use the crane to drop planks to distract the enemies that have pinned down Mugan you should instead hurl your stone behind the three enemies. When you do so Mugan will take advantage of the distraction to dispatch them, and you will unlock the achievement/trophy.

How to get the Old Man Achievement/Trophy

To get the secret Old Man achievement/trophy you must visit Takuma in his tower in Ōsaka Castle. You will be able to unlock this achievement/trophy in Mission 1: Osaka Castle. Takuma is atop a large tower and in order to reach him you need to use Hayato's grapple hook twice to climb up the building. Before you do so however you need to make sure you have cleared out all the enemies in the area.

Getting Seen

Being spotted by the enemy is not a major problem, it does however prevent you from obtaining certain achievements/trophies that require you to complete a mission undetected. If you are seen and the alarm is raised extra patrols will converge on your location, and you will need to deal with them. The situation can however be used to your advantage to get rid of troublesome Samurai or Straw Hats that are in the area. Until you reach the later missions the patrols that are spawned will always consist of normal guards and rarely include a samurai which means you should not have too many problems dispatching them.

Always Quicksave

As Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Samurai is a stealth strategy game it is crucial that you get in the habit of continually quicksaving, especially after you have successfully managed to do something like eliminate a guard or got past one to get into position. Don't immediately quicksave though, wait about 10 seconds to make 100% sure you were not spotted by another guard. It is recommended that you always quicksave whenever you start a mission to avoid having to load the entire thing again if it goes wrong in the opening moments.
