Capture Rare Animals
One way that you can supplement your regular income is to find an empty pig cage or abandoned chicken crate and when exploring the islands keep an eye out for exotic looking animals that you can capture and take back. Like chests animals have rarity and although you will get far less than an animal that is a requirement of a voyage from the Merchants Alliance you will still earn some gold.
