Try not to use your brakes unnecessarily, the more you use them the slower you will be and you also increase the probabiility of using the incorrect amount of pressure and causing a lock up. Don't drive too aggressively though as minor collisions with other drivers can be much worse than braking mistakes as you can't control the outcome of a collision.
