Remember that if you have a linked army and they share a skill, using it will use it for both squads. For example if you have a spear and shield and a sword and shield unit in army together and use shield defense, both units will use it together. For this to happen though it must be the exact same skill.

ALL the bases in the game are categorised into Small, Medium, and Large. The base category is based on the number of defense points.

Small

Medium

Defense point of 4

Large

Defense point of 5 and above

The Large bases will have giant knights called 'Guardians' as it's Base Commanders. Guardians have a much longer HP, higher attack strength, AOE skills and thicker defense. Also, only for Guardians, they have a 'Shield' icon beside their HP bar. Their HP can only be dropped after depleting it's Shield. When the Shield is depleted, it sends the Guardian into a momentary 'Stun' status.

A good strategy on certain contracts that have special requests with different objectives is to split your mercenaries up and mark their targets accordingly. This can be easily done by pressing down the Touch Pad to access the menu. Once your mercenaries have completed their task you will be able to summon them back using the shortcut command.

Do not assume that Nightmare mode represents the game mode's difficulty, it is basically the same game with added fantasy elements such as Griffons, Goblins, Cyclops, and Dragons. Everything else such as seizing bases, maintaining positions, and defending is exactly the same.

After the Battle of Orleans remember to also play the Hundred Years' War scenario on both sides as doing so will trigger many cutscenes that cannot be missed and also some that can be tricky such as those for Yoshimasa and Karen at the tavern.
