THP8 Secret Spots FAQ

| 1. Introduction   |
=====================

THP8 is absolutely my favorite game in the series. That is why 
It is no surprise I discuss this one with many people. Unfortunately 
it seems that many people have a lot of difficulty with the game and 
cannot seem to find a lot of help. Secret spots seem to be one of the 
major issues. They are hidden icons randomly scattered across Beaver 
Valley, the world THP8 takes place in. Collecting these icons is 
required to move up the ranks in the game and give you a nice 
achievement. Some of these are quite hard to find, so stay with me.

| 2. The Walkthrough|
=====================

Suburbia
--------

1. Up In Tree

There is a tree in the middle of the backend loop of the street. It is 
directly in front of you when the game begins. The secret spot icon is 
on top of the trunk. To get it, you must get some speed and then 
boneless (Up, Up, Ollie) off of the edge of the planter that surrounds 
it. You might need to boost your ollie or air stats a little in order 
to get it. If you cannot reach it otherwise, force bail (LB+RB+LT+RT) 
at the height of your jump. 

2. Houses Roof

This one is located on the roof of your house. Go to the left side of 
the house and you will find a blue and white awning attached to the 
side of a trailer. Ride up this ramp to get on the first ledge on the 
house. Then get off your board (LB+RB) and grab onto the edge of the 
roof (RB). Pull yourself up and walk collect the icon.

3. Grecian Ledge

Go to the back of the house with three blue empty swimming pools that 
serve as bowls. The icon is located on top of the giant wall behind 
the pools with the paintings on them. You will need a lot of air, so 
spine transfer (RT) through the bowls multiple times. Once you have 
enough speed, ride up the side of the back bowl closest to the wall. 
If you get air enough you should be able to reach the icon.

Skate Park
----------

1. Roof Top View

This one is on top of the green roof located in the back of the skate 
park nearest the school. Simply air up one of the quarter pipes below 
the roof and then get off your board at the height of the jump. This 
way you will land on the roof and can easily walk over to it.

2. To the Point

This icon is located on the wire above the skate park. All you have to 
do is grind across the wire and there are many ways to do this. An 
easy way is to get back up on the green roof and grind it from there. 


3. Amid the Trees

This one is very hidden. Go around the side of the skatepark, up to 
the top of the dirt road the leads to the funpark. Once you at the 
very top of the hill and is looking at the side of the green funpark 
wall closest to Suburbia, turn around and you will see a small green 
island between the two roads. Jump over the guard railing and you 
should see the secret icon on the island. Walk over and get it.

Main Street
-----------

1. Bottle Popping

Get to the top of the liquor store. There are multiple ways to do 
this. Once here, you will notice a spiral rail going upwards on the 
corners of the building. The icon is located on the spiral rail on the 
corner closest to the giant pizza. Grind the quarter pipe connected to 
the rail to make your way up it.

2. Wheel of Cheese

This one is located on the giant pizza. Get on top of the building 
next to the liquor store. Then ride toward the quarter pipe in front 
of the pizza. Ride up it, spine transfer, and you will get it. 

3. Climb the Cup

This one is located on one of the wires hanging above the walkway and 
streets in the middle of the street. Use one of the roofs of the 
building to get to a wire and then proceed to get this icon.

Hilltop
-------

1. Shore Grind

Go down to the shore near the capitol building. You should find a 
walkway that extends out toward the shore a little bit, right next to 
a walkway suspended in the air. Slowly walk off the edge of the shore 
walkway hold Y so that you will land in a grind on a hidden ledge. 
There is an icon here and you should be able to get it.

2. Parking Awning

Right in front of the funpark is a suspended purple awning. There are 
multiple ways to get up to it. An easy one is probably just to wallie 
off of the side of the funpark. The icon is located on the edge 
closest to the funpark.

3. Fun Sign

This icon is located on top of the giant sign in front of the hilltop. 
Get on top of the same purple awning described in the last goal. The 
same back edge of the awning curves around to the right and attaches 
to a thin wire. Grind the edge of the awning and onto the wire. The 
wire will lead upward to the very top of the sign. 

4. Castle Tower

Go to the left side of the hilltop and use the ramps to get up in the 
halfpipe-like ledge. There are two castle-like towers here. Looking 
toward the parking lot, you to spine transfer into the right tower. 
This is where the icon is located.

5. Hanging Box

Go to the higher part of the construction site with wooden quarter 
pipes on a risen platform. From here you can see a box hanging from a 
crane right in front of you. Jump out to box and grind on it to get 
the icon.

Capitol
-------

1. High Wire

You must go to the hilltop and find the edge with the red railing that 
looks out on the capitol. There is a ramp lined up against the 
railing. Attached to this ramp is a wire. Use the ramp to jump up and 
grind on the wire. The secret icon is in the middle of it.

City Park
---------

1. Picking Apples

This one actually forces you to make use of the moveable objects 
feature. Go to the left corner of the park closest to the shore. You 
will find a basketball court. In the tree closest to the left of the 
left basketball net is a secret icon. You want to use the moveable 
objects feature to place either a quarter pipe or a kicker underneath 
the tree. Doing this easily gets you the icon.

2. High Pipe

On the side of the wall of the factory, nearest to the left entrance 
are a few pipes. On the highest pipe is an icon. You wall ride from 
one pipe to another to get the icon. Or you can go to the right 
entrance of the factory and jump of the edge of the walkway and land 
in a grind on the pipe.

3. Buckled on edge     

This one is pretty easy. Go to the long emptied U-shaped pool. In 
between the two are four red rails. You want to use the wood boards on 
either side of the pool to grind the middle rail.

School
------

1. Power Run

There is a wire that connects from three different places: the 
building with the gain slope, the facility with a bowl on top of it, 
and in the small tiny alley between the two tiny school facilities. 
Grind from either of these spots and when you reach the spot where 
they all connect, you will receive the icon.

2. School Roof Tower

Get on top of the building with the giant slope; there is a red 
ladder. Go to the back wall and you will see a quarter pipe. Look out 
to the right of it. There is a wire suspended above the quarter pipe 
that is attached to the water tower. Grind the quarter pipe to the 
right and then jump up to the wire and grind your wall to the tower. 
Run into the middle of the tower and the walls will break away 
revealing the icon.

3. School Roof Tower 2

Get on top of the building directly across from the building with the 
giant slope. The easiest way to get here is to obviously use the giant 
slope. On the right side of this building is a bell tower with an 
opening. The icon is directly in front of the opening.

4. Antenna 

First you must get on top of the building with the glass mounds. It is 
the building directly to the right of the giant slope. Right along 
side the mounds is a quarter pipe. Right above the quarter pipe is an 
antenna with the icon. Use the quarter pipe to air to the top of the 
antenna.

5. Science Lab

Grind the ENTIRE length of the piano awning and it will open up a door 
inside the halls of the school. Go through the door and you will find 
the icon.

6. School Ditch

Find the bridge that connects the School to the Slums. Stand on the 
bridge and then jump off either side of it. You will find a large 
tunnel under the bridge with the icon in the middle of it. 


Slums
-----

1. Power Plant

Remember when you went to the top of the building in the middle of the 
slums for the Bam Pro challenge? Well the idea is to get back up 
there, but not the same way Bam made you. Find the liquor store. You 
should see a sign in the front of the building that says L-I-Q-O-U-R. 
Use the quarter pipe below it to grind on the ledge holding the 
letters and then proceed to grind them all away. Doing so will open up 
a door to the top of the building. Go through it and there you go.

2. Building Teleport

Go to the large back building furthest away from City Park and closest 
to the school. Along it you will see a large garage door. Skate up to 
it and it will open revealing the icon.

3. Factory Parking Lot

As if this was not obvious enough, go to the parking lot in front of 
the factory. If you move the camera you can notice that there is a 
secret icon floating above the middle. Use the move the objects to 
place a kicker near the icon so that you can reach it.

Factory
-------

1. Car Climb

When you first get in the factory you will notice a bunch of jeeps 
suspended from two large moving conveyor belts. Use the ramp in front 
of the belts to hop on them and grind your way up to the top floor. As 
soon as you are here, you will notice two yellow railing along the 
side of the floor. Grind either of these rails back toward the 
suspended jeeps. As soon as you reach the end of one of the rails, 
jump and hold Y. You will land in a grind on a rail attached to the 
bottom of a jeep, which will send you toward the next one and the next 
one and so forth. Along this pattern you will get the icon.

2. Robot Arms

Grind up to the top floor with the yellow rails again. As soon as you 
are here, face the suspended jeeps. Walk to the edge of the platform 
on the right and look down. Here you will see the icon. Jump down and 
get it.

3. Daily Grind

Go to very back wall of the factory, the one closest to the shore on 
the outside. Along the wall you will find a large red rail. Grind up 
this rail to curve around the quarter pipe. From here, as soon as you 
come to the second slope on the rail, wallie upwards and land in a 
grind on the vitalization. Once you reach the end of this, jump toward 
the panel on the wall. You will break through the wall and collect the 
secret icon.

Fun Park
--------

1. Dragon Breath

Walk to the top of the dragon head and slowly walk off the edge of 
his nose. You should fall right in his mouth, where the icon is 
located.

2. Crows Nest

This icon is located on the platform above the pirate ship in the 
middle of the level. The easiest way to get it is to grind around the 
roller coaster and to jump at it as soon as it comes in sight.

3. Sewer Tube

Go to the pirate ship in the back of the level and face the shops. You 
will see a wooden bridge right in front of you. Stand on the bridge 
and then jump off either side of it. You will find a small tunnel 
under the bridge with the icon in the middle of it. 

4. Pirate Flag

Go to the same pirate ship and get on top it. You will see a large 
funbox in the middle of it. Ride up to the top of the funbox and look 
out toward the direction of the slide. You will see a rope that 
connects from the funbox to a pirate flag on the other side of the 
ship. Grind on this rope and the icon is yours.

5. Purple Arch

Find the slide with the yellow rails on it and walk to the top. You 
will see a 
small passage that goes through the wall. Ride through here and you 
will find 
the icon.

6. Water Ride

Find the water roller coaster in the back of the near the trident. 
Ride along the path of the coaster and go through the bottom passage 
of the ride. You will receive the icon.
