I said in my last guide I was going to write about Sonic Rivals. But instead I got this game. I'm a crazy Blaze fan and I wanted to see what they would do to her in this game. Anyway since I spent a lot of money I didn't really have much of on this game and annoyed a Gamestop employee on release day quite a bit until the shipment came in, I might as well write about it, no? This guide has a lot of basic info such as moves, items, descriptions of town areas and lists of such things as missions, gold medals requirements, sound test and theater room, etc. This guide also has a full walkthrough of Sonic's, Silver's, Shadow's and Last Episodes. The Walkthroughs are the most important part of this guide. The only really important things not here are a full description of all Town Missions and all 380 Silver Medal Locations, which I have written guides about that are posted on GameFAQs.com, but this guide does have the locations/names/basic info for all Town Missions and now some of the hardest of the Silver Medals. Enjoy! New in 1.2: Playstation 3 info, fixes and clarifications of Moves, A couple of ramps that throw you off into abysses I keep forgetting to mention and other fixes, formatting the walkthrough so it is prettier and easier to read, addition of Downloadable Content Section since now there is actually Downloadable content available in Japan and addition of a few Boss shortcuts. Plus I did some formatting changes to make large blocks of text more readable. 1.25: Only after two days important enough to get at least a 5 after the two... Most importantly I moved the List of Questions into the guide proper, so it's less confusing and it's included in the Table of Contents. I was just weird the other way I did it, plus I was trying to avoid the renumbering... but I gritted my teeth and did it. Also I added a list of questions included. I also moved Version History to end of guide... cause it was annoying me where I had it. I keep on forgetting to update Knuckles' moves... seriously, I finally did... plus a little bit more about Blaze's Homing Attack. Language option question I keep seeing on the messageboards added to beginning of guide, plus a question about achievements listed on GameFAQs/Xbox Live. Mistakes! I'm trying to figure out why I said Sky Gem hurts enemies unless I saw it in-game somewhere or something or I was just crazy... that was an error I apologize for and I found a couple more errors too, still! Also, I realize now that the tip I gave for Sonic's White Acropolis tricky ramp wasn't that good and improved it. I also added more improvements to the walkthrough section in general while I was at it. Plus a little more of an update on PS3 differences and a little news about at least two more downloadable updates for the game coming soon, at least in Asia. 1.26: I don't know what it is about Blaze's Homing Attack that confuses me so... that's why I normally avoid it... now to try to correctly explain it... can't get it to work the same time every time... Also a blaring omission in this guide, a note about Rail Grinding Controls in Character Moves Section... not that important, but lacking. 1.261: Just a Downloadable Content update, Very Hard Mode now available in the U.S. and Europe. 1.262: I fixed a Downloadable Content and Achievements info mistakes, Very Hard Mode is not yet available for PS3 in the U.S./Europe and I was confusing Gamer Points with Microsoft Points... Also, I added another question that keeps popping up pretty frequently about Sonic's Wave Ocean. 1.27: Info about the new Downloadable Content, Team Attack Amigo. Also a new section, 19. Fun Glitches. Yes, you read correctly. 1.28: Info about Boss Attack Downloadable Content. Also I'll say it here too, I don't have this game anymore, I sold it to get Sonic and the Secret Rings, which is my current guide project. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Table of Contents: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 1. Where is the third Key in Shadow's Kingdom Valley? I'm stuck in Shadow's Dusty Desert Hovercraft part and I don't know where to go! The Archeologist in Shadow's Story is talking about a Priest's Prayers and Dark Light... What do I do? Questions Answered: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Q. What are the differences between the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 versions of this game? Were any previous glitches fixed? A. So far as of this update, no major differences gameplay-wise noted and no major glitches fixed, maybe some framerate improvement. The only things that seem semi-confirmed are more small glitches actually, like no shadows cast by some objects and sometimes random instant wins. I will update again as soon as anything major comes out. Also of course, the 360 version has Achievements, which are listed in this guide. And the buttons differ of course, I have added the basic control schemes for both versions to Character Moves and generalized the buttons in the rest of the guide, for example referring to the "jump" button or a specific attack name instead of a specific button. Since this Guide was originally written for the Xbox 360 version, I will apologize if there is a confusing button reference somewhere if you have a PS3. Note: I still need to find out if the PS3 booklet has the same inaccuracies as the Xbox 360 version and other similar things. Q. If I don't have enough Rings to buy an upgrade after completing the Episode and all Town Missions, what do I do? A. If you don't have enough money at the end of the story you will have to replay the last few levels in Episode Mode again. Sonic can enter Aquatic Base again, Shadow Dusty Desert and Silver Kingdom Valley. This is also the way to see the credits again in Episode Select. Q. Do I have to complete all of the Town Missions in Episode Mode? A. No, but some of them have to be, talk to people in town to get a clue on where to go next. Q. How do I find Town Missions or Silver Medals in the Town Areas after I complete each Episode? A. Go back to Episode Select and you will be in one of the Town Areas. Each of the three Town Area has two Gates that lead to the other Town Areas, but when you go back two of the gates are closed. For Sonic and Shadow, you can go to Forest and New City from Castle Town, but the gate between Forest and New City is closed. For Silver, you can go to Castle Town and New City from Forest, but the gate between Castle Town and New City is closed. Q. Where do I go in this town? A. Talk to people with Orange Exclamation Points for clues or follow the walkthrough. Q. The Xbox 360 Achievements listed on Xbox Live and GameFAQs/other places are confusing! Does Blue Phantom mean an unlockable Super Sonic in normal levels? Does Nights of Kronos unlock a new ending? A. Sloppy writing by someone that doesn't know English well. These confusing Achievements can be downloaded from Xbox Live and are listed on sites such as GameFAQs, but are replaced by much better written versions when you unlock them. There isn't Super Sonic in level, and there isn't a secret ending. The proper list and info is in it's own section in this guide. Q. The booklet says this... where is it in the game? A. This was a very rushed game. There were several things that were suppose to be in it taken out last minute, including things mentioned in the booklet, here is a list of Xbox 360 booklet inaccuracies and what is true in actual gameplay (I don't know if this is the same info in the PS3 booklet or not yet): Pgs. 7, 12 and 13: The booklet mentions a few times Custom Actions have three different levels, use the Action Gauge, are upgraded in-level with Chaos Drives/Light Cores, and have something called "maturity". Non of these things appear in the game, in fact ignore the entire second paragraph on page 13. In-game, Custom Actions do not use any of these things, select them with the D-pad and you can use them as much as you like since they actually don't use your gauge, and they never change in function. This guide contains the correct info later on. Pg. 11: The booklet mentions the Shield power-up, it's not in the game anywhere. Pg. 14: Shadow's Chaos Blast is said to have a 10-yard range, in actuality it's not nearly that wide. Also you must jump first before pressing Right Trigger to use it. Pgs. 17 and 18: The booklet mentions a flight gauge for both Tails and Omega, they don't have one. Also what is suggests is Omega has a limited Glide potential, not true, he glides down until he reaches the ground. Pg. 17: The booklet says Knuckles can harm enemies while gliding, it's not true. (I have heard it might be true for the PS3, but I haven't had this confirmed yet.) Pg. 18: The booklet forgets to mention Rouge can plant bombs on walls when she is climbing on them, you actually have to use this move in game- play, so that was a bad mistake. Pg. 22: This game currently has no Xbox Live support for multi-player. There is now downloadable content... at least in Asia... Q. Where is the Speed Chip Upgrade for Silver mentioned in the Prima Guide? A. Didn't make it to the final version of this game. It would have been really nice, though. Q. Where are the shops in New City and Forest? A. The Yellow Monitors are the shops, they just don't have people next to them like the shop in New City. I decided to describe the Shop Location in the Town Area Section of this guide. Q. How do I replay Story Mode? A. Xbox 360: Only one save per Xbox 360 account, so you need to either create a new account or delete your previous save. Creating a new account is hands down the best way. If you just want to see the cutscenes again all of them are in the Extras Menu in the Theater Room. You can also replay the very end of Story Mode as described in the getting money for upgrades question above. PS3: I seriously don't know yet... someone tell me... Q. Can I change the language? A. You can change the in-game voices and sub-titles to Japanese if you change the language options of your console. Japanese is the only other language available on the English version disk. Q. How do I switch Rails? A. You need to jump and then Homing Attack or land on the next rail, it's not as easy as it was in other Sonic 3D games. Q. Where are the rumored things such as unlocking other characters, Free Mode, day and night feature and Super Form in regular levels? A. I don't know, we will have to wait and see if this is downloadable content from SEGA. I have completed the game and I can tell you these things are not unlockables either. Q. Any Downloadable Content yet? A. A couple so far, look at the Downloadable Content Section for more details since I update this guide for each download. Level/Town Related Questions: Q. In Sonic's Wave Ocean, I can't find the switch with Tails! A. On the beach with the lighthouse, it's on the highest raised platform area. First fly to the lower one, then the camera angle will turn and you should now fly to the higher one. Kill the robots and the switch is under a couple of boxes. There are hidden switches in later parts of the game too, all of these are detailed in the walkthrough. Q. In Sonic's Wave Ocean and Radical Train, a stupid Boost Ramp throws me off into an abyss! Help! A. Enter these tricky ramps from the left side... this helps for some reason. Q. In Sonic's White Acropolis, I can't get past the last ramp in his snowboarding section, I keep falling to my death over a cliff! A. On ramps white boarding, press and hold the Jump button, then release to do a long jump. Try releasing in the middle of the ramp, not at the very tip. This in previous game is called a "trick" off the ramp, which is why I used that terminology earlier and confused people. Q. In Sonic's Aquatic Base, I can't figure out how to open a door with Tails. A. You need to kill flying enemies over the gap with Dummy Rings as you fly over or a Dummy Ring Snipe by landing on a platform and holding down the Attack Button to aim. Q. In Silver's Tropical Jungle where he says "I wish I could go up" Where do I go? A. Levitate straight ahead to the platform with the two robots, look to your right and you will see a hanging Flower Bud, which will lead you to the correct path. Q. How do I solve the Dusty Desert Ball Puzzle in Silver's story? A. You need to push the ball with the Attack button and then follow behind it steering it. Don't move the boxes from in front of the holes, they will help keep the balls out of the holes. Push the ball so it goes diagonally between holes that are on opposite sides of the course. Don't push the ball unless you absolutely have to change it's direction because the more you push the ball the number will count down until it's destroyed. Don't push the ball too hard or it will go out of control. Remember the ball reappears if it is destroyed or goes down the wrong hole. Q. What do I do when Silver says "This container can help me move forward" in Kingdom Valley? A. Stand on the container and press the Special Action Button (RT or R1) to levitate it with you on it to go higher and farther than you normally can. Q. Where is the third Key in Shadow's Kingdom Valley? A. Climb on the giant stained glass window and press the Attack Button to plant a bomb on it so it blows up and you gain access to the room inside. Q. I'm stuck in Shadow's Dusty Desert Hovercraft part and I don't know where to go! A. You need to follow the pillars, go in between each set and two more will appear somewhere up ahead, you need to make all the pillars appear to open a door. Q. The Archeologist in Shadow's Story is talking about a Priest's Prayers and Dark Light... What do I do? A. Go to the Fountain of the Priest, people will help to point you in the right direction, and hit the four pillars surrounding it with Chaos Spear. And finally, I don't have an X-box profile... yet... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 2. Story: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ (Story from the game booklet) It all started in Soleanna, the beautiful city of water. Each hedgehog has his own moves, plus you can buy upgrades for them if you have enough Rings at the Shops in Town. Earn Rings by collecting them in Acts, Bosses and Town Missions and get bonus Rings depending on what Rank you earned. The items you buy at the shop are available at different points in Episode Mode, have different costs, have specific names and some upgrades are needed to continue the story, all this info is listed. These three characters also have an Action Gauge in the bottom right hand of the screen. Using certain moves or techniques depletes your Action Gauge. Gain power by defeating enemies and picking up Light Cores or Chaos Drives or with Sonic and Silver just stand on the ground for a while till the bar is full and glows again. There is also a level indicator next to the gauge that shows what level Shadow's Chaos Boost is at (increase the level by buying Memory Shards from the shop, when you have Memory Shards you increase the Boost Level in-act by pressing the Special Action button one or two more times), and also for Sonic a Gem appears next to the gauge that shows what Custom Move you have currently equipped. Sonic has two "Princess Acts" where he is carrying around Princess Elise, two stages where he is on a board for part of the time, and sometimes he runs though a Super Speed Area. There are special controls for these different types of Sonic game play. In most Acts, Shadow has vehicles he can drive, they are mostly controlled the same way but vary in how easily you can drive them and the type of Ammo they have. Sometimes you will need to use the vehicle to complete the stage. Also Shadow has "Chaos Boost" which is available when his Action Gauge is full. Certain upgrades only work when he is in this boost mode. The Action Gauge slowly runs out. The other characters are Support Characters that you sometimes meet in Acts or sometimes follow you around in Act or Town Stages. In some Acts you will temporarily switch to the Support Character to complete part of the level, one Act in each story is completely played by a Support Character. Later on in the game you will even see main characters act as a support character in another story. Support characters lack an Action Gauge and can't be upgraded (except in the case of main characters appearing as a support character in another episode, you can even use upgrades that character already has). Rails: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Sonic, Tails, Shadow, Omega, and Blaze can grind rails. Silver has rails in some of his levels, but you can't catch them. (I have heard however Silver can grind in the downloadable Very Hard Mode) You basically slide along Rails faster than you can run. Here are the basic Rail Controls: Homing Attack- If your character can Homing Attack, you can use it to Homing Attack toward a rail. This comes in handy when you want to switch Rails. Jump Button on Rail- Jump off Rail. Attack Button on Rail- Flip around, this will increase your speed for a short period of time. Keep tapping the Attack button to move faster overall. NOTES: Character moves are based from Xbox 360 booklet, but some moves were incorrectly described in the booklet or are not clear enough, so my added notes are in parenthesis, I don't want to plagiarize here. Plus I generalized the Xbox 360 descriptions but replacing the buttons with more general info, as explained below. Because I felt it was best here, the 360 and PS3 buttons are generalized, refer to the Game Controls for more specific details for your system. As you can see, I also tried to clarify some of the attack info. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 4.a. Sonic's Moves, Upgrades, Custom Moves, Super Speed Areas, Boarding and Princess Stages ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Sonic has many of the same moves from previous Sonic 3D games. His Homing Attack works a little differently and you need to get use to Sonic or Shadow having to do a flip before using it. This was done because people complained about the characters being able to Homing Attack too fast in previous games. However, his moves do change when he is carrying the Princess, when he is boarding or during Super Speed Areas. His Action Gauge is only used in Princess Levels. You can get more energy if your feet is on the ground or from Light Cores/Chaos Drives in enemies. Basic Moves: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Homing Attack- Jump button during Jump Automatically zoom in and strike nearby enemies. If no enemies are within range, use this to make Sonic perform a "Jump Dash." (Also use Homing Attack to catch rails) Spin Dash- Hold Attack button at standstill > Release Hold the Attack button to start Sonic spinning on the spot. Release the button and he will dash off in a burst of speed. (Attack ends by itself after a while, or press the Attack button or Jump to stop him) Attack- Attack button (Tap, not hold) Throw a powerful spinning kick at enemies straight ahead. Upgrades: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Light Dash- Attack button near a path of Rings (Tap, not hold while running, at a standstill or jumping. Does not work with all Rings.) Send Sonic soaring through a pathway of Rings suspended in mid-air. Item Name- Light Chip Price- 100 Rings When Available- Beginning of game, after completing "Winder of a Shoemaker" Mission. You will need this Upgrade to get into Act 1: Wave Ocean. Bound Jump- Attack button during Jump (Tap, not hold) While jumping over an enemy or breakable ground area, press the Attack button to attack vertically downward before bouncing even higher. Press the button again to repeat this move. (Repeat once to bounce higher and keep tapping to keep bouncing. Careful, if you are trying to catch a suspended line of Rings, if you are not close enough to the rings you might do this attack instead and fall to your doom.) Item Name- Bounce Bracelet Price- 2000 Rings When Available- Item needed to continue story before Act 6: Radical Train. Sliding Attack- Hold Attack > Release (Hold while you are Running) Slide along a destructive path straight through multiple enemies ahead (stop by pressing the Attack button again or eventually this attack stops on its own.) Item Name- Antigravity Price- 500 Rings When Available- Item needed to complete continue story and enter Act 2: Dusty Desert. Custom Moves- RT/R1: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Later in the game you can buy Upgrades called Gems that give Sonic a variety of abilities he can use with the Special Action Button. In- level you can shuffle through moves by pressing left and right with the D (directional) pad, a Gem that looks like a Sol Emerald from Sonic Rush will appear next to your energy bar and Sonic's shoes will change color. Custom Actions cannot be used during Princess Stages, Super Speed Areas or Boarding. How you use each Gem varies and my extra info appears in parentheses. Item Name- Green Gem Allows you to use the "Tornado" custom action. Creates wind to attack surrounding enemies. (Blue Tornado move from Sonic Heroes, can hit enemies multiple times, but slow, just press the Special Action button to activate) Price- 5000 Rings When Available- Before Kingdom Valley level. Item Name- Red Gem Allows you to use the "Slow" custom action. Slows the flow of time in the immediate area. (Keep time slowed down by holding down the Special Action. Despite what some people say, I have observed this Gem also slows down the clock, a very valuable tool for S-ranking. Be careful, the Red Gem also affects how fast you can move the camera, and for some reason seems to mess with Sonic's ability to quickly turn in the air to catch things like light dash rings and rainbow hoops, so you might want to turn it off at these points.) Price- 5000 Rings When Available- Before Kingdom Valley level. Item Name- Blue Gem Allows you to use the "Mach Speed" custom action. Enables you to do a Supersonic Boost Dash. (Press Special Action to activate and Sonic will automatically run off, but you can steer him. The boost in speed only lasts a short period of time, but you can repeat it quickly.) Price- 7000 When Available- Before Kingdom Valley level. Item Name- White Gem Allows you to use the "Homing Smash" custom action. Enables you to stop in midair, and do a Homing Attack. (Jump, then press Special Action to stop in mid-air, this ability basically allows you to stop and hang in mid-air in the middle of a jump, then if you release the button you either automatically Jump Dash or Homing Attack an enemy nearby. Can be used in a few Bosses to hit the boss a little early.) Price- 8000 Rings When Available- Before Aquatic Base level. Item Name- Sky Gem Allows you to use the "Gun Drive" custom action. Enables you to throw a Gem and teleport to that location. (When you hold down the Special Action, the screen changes to first person view and you can aim with the Left Control Stick. When you release the Special Action button, Sonic will throw a Gem (it looks like a Sol Emerald) and then he usually runs after it. If you aim it kind of high, Sonic will do a long jump. The longer you have the Special Action button pressed, the further he throws it. A neat trick is to use this next to a wall and aim kind of high, Sonic will spring up very high. Occasionally if you throw the gem very far Sonic will fail to follow it, or the reaction will be delayed.) Price- 10000 Rings When Available- Before Aquatic Base level. Item Name- Yellow Gem Allows you to use the "Thunder Guard" custom action. Defends against attacks while attracting nearby Rings. (Pressing Special Action will put up a yellow Shield that will attract nearby Rings. It will protect you if you directly touch an enemy and a few other damage causing things, but not everything including most bullets and lava. From what I have observed, I think it protects you better the faster you move, but don't completely take my word on that. Or actually, this thing might work if the shield but not you is hit and protects you from indirect blasts because of this. When you are hit, you can simply press Special Action again to get the shield back, you will lose the shield if you are hit by anything, even if you are not protected from Ring Loss. You can turn on the Shield and then switch to another Custom Action without losing the shield.) Price- 12000 Rings When Available- Before Aquatic Base level. Item Name- Purple Gem Allows you to use the "Scale" custom action. Changes Sonic's size. (Holding down Special Action will turn Sonic tiny. Tiny Sonic can run faster than regular Sonic and he runs automatically and you can't stop him, but his Homing Attack is gone... replaced by a crazy infinite jump! Just keep pressing the Jump button and Sonic will stay in the air forever going higher and higher! He's not really fast doing this, but you can go ANYWHERE! Perfect for clever shortcuts and finding Silver Medals. Releasing Special Action will return Sonic to normal size.) Price- 14000 Rings When Available- Before Aquatic Base level. Super Speed Areas: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Sometimes in Acts you will hit areas where Sonic goes extra fast. Basically all you can do is steer Sonic, jump and use Light Dash since he runs automatically, some places you might have to jump off walls like during certain parts of Acts. Be careful! If you run into a wall or anything else such as enemies or obstacles Sonic will lose his Rings or die. If you run off the stage there is no hope. Tips: You might want to keep pressing the Attack button so you can Light Dash any nearby lines of Rings. Lines of Rings almost never steer you wrong. Remember only small adjustments left or right. You can also steer with the camera! Use the Right Stick to move the camera slightly and your character will change path also. Don't run at the very edge of the stage where you can easily hit a wall Boarding: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ A couple of times Sonic is on a board, either snowboarding or in a city. All Sonic can do is jump, but he can also trick off ramps if done properly and grind on rails. Trick Jump: Hold Jump when on ramp Start pressing the Jump button as soon as you get on a ramp or even a little before you get on the ramp, he will slow down to charge up for a jump. The longer you press Jump and the closer to the edge of the ramp you release the button, the farther he will trick jump. Tips: You can't attack enemies, so don't even bother. You can also steer with the camera! Use the Right Stick to move the camera slightly and your character will change path also. Princess Stages: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Most skills are gone during the Princess Stages, the controls are: Homing Attack- Jump button during Jump Same as before, except Sonic attacks enemies with his feet. Sliding Attack- Hold Attack button > Release Same as before. Aura- Special Action (Hold) An Aura surrounds Sonic and Elise that allow them to walk on quick sand and water, hurt/defeat enemies, and break boxes and other objects. The Aura will not always protect you from touching enemies however, but it's cool because it will cause extra hits to multi-hit characters while you are attacking them with Homing Attack. The Action Gauge depletes when the Aura is on. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 4.b. Tails' Moves ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Tails is the slowest runner out of all the characters, but he can fly for short periods of time, and throw and aim dummy ring capsules. Fly- Jump button during Jump (Hold) Press the Jump button to fly and release it to float gently downward. Use the left stick to move in any direction. Fly until the gauge runs out. (First of all it says gauge in the booklet, but it doesn't exist >_<; Second, when you fly, you need to reach the maximum height you want to go before you release the Jump button, because you can't press it again and fly higher.) Dummy Ring Bomb- Attack button (tap) Attack enemies in front by releasing a batch of exploding Rings. (Thankfully they are more powerful than in Sonic Heroes, they can actually kill enemies with one hit. Dummy Rings explode after a few seconds.) Dummy Rings Snipe- Hold Attack button Switch to first-person view and use the right stick to aim a shot. Release the Attack button to fire. (Has longer range but less accurate aim since you have to aim yourself) Dummy Ring Blitz- Attack button while flying Drop Dummy Rings diagonally in front of your for an air attack. (Actually the booklet is wrong again, you drop Rings directly beneath you.) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 4.c. Knuckles' Moves ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Knuckles has similar moves and actions to previous 3D Sonic games. Glide- Jump button during Jump (hold) Gently glide forward and downward, and punch any enemies in your way (my note: the booklet possibly wrong again, I haven't been able to hurt any enemies by gliding into them in this game) Climb- Glide toward a surface > Left Stick Knuckles clings to vertical surfaces that he glides into, allowing him to climb. (Note: To get off the surface press the jump button, but this seems a little glitched in this game, just keep trying and eventually he will come off the wall. It's also easier just to climb to the top or even turn a corner and he will fall off.) Punch- Attack Button (tap) Punch enemies straight ahead. Blast through the toughest of the enemies. (Keep pressing the Attack button for stronger Combo versions of this attack. The third combo sends out a shockwave that damages enemies on the ground for quite a large radius.) Screwdriver- Hold Attack button > Release A screwdriver punch. Blast through the toughest of enemies. (A form of Homing Attack that you have to charge up first standing still. Using this attack when no enemies are around will make him spiral forward as a sort of fiery dash. Unlike normal Homing Attack, if you try to repeat it, he goes into a Ground Shaker instead, the next move described.) Ground shaker- Attack button during Jump Dive straight downward fist first, causing a disruptive ripple that damages enemies and surroundings. (This also paralyzes nearby enemies.) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 4.d. Silver's Moves and Upgrades ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ All of Silver's Moves use some of the Action Gauge or will prevent the gauge from filling up, Levitate will use it up quickly. Refill the Action Gauge by not using any psy moves and standing on the ground or by getting Light Cores/Chaos Drives from enemies. Basic Moves: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Levitate- Jump button > Hold Jump button Levitate and move freely in any direction until the gauge runs out. Note that objects cannot be levitated (RT or R1) when Silver is levitating. Psychokinesis- Special Action Raise surrounding objects off the ground. In some circumstances enemy projectiles can also be manipulated. Press Special Action again to drop the items. Stand on an object and raise it will allow him to reach higher areas. Psychokinesis can also create a path by moving surrounding objects to access a new area by holding down the Right Trigger while standing on a marked target. Psycho Smash- Attack button Push away nearby objects. The longer you hold down Attack Button, the further the object will travel. If used while manipulating objects, they will be hurled one-by-one. (pick up object with Special Action than throw by pushing Attack button) (This move next to an enemy paralyzes it and then you can throw the enemy, I first thought you needed the Shock Bracelet to do this, but you don't.) Upgrades: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Hold Smash- Hold Attack button > Release Hurl all levitating objects in the same direction at once. Item Name- Single-Layered Extreme Price- 200 Rings When Available- Before Act 2: Tropical Jungle. Psychokinesis All- Special Action > Special Action Use Silver's psychokinetic Power to manipulate everything (Note: pick up more things at once, in game this move is called "Grab All".) Item Name- Power Bracelet Price- 500 Rings When Available- Before Act 2: Tropical Jungle. Teleport Dash- Jump button > Jump button (slight Tap while Jumping) More quickly and avoid taking damage using Silver's teleportation ability (Quick boost forward) Item Name- Heart of Wind Price- 1000 Rings When Available- Needed for "Get into the station" town mission before Act 5: Radical Train. Psycho Shock- Hold Attack button when jumping > Release Paralyze the enemy and manipulate them like other inanimate objects (Paralyze nearby enemies, then pick them up like other objects. If you throw any enemy even if it is a multi-hit enemy, it will die instantly. You can also throw most enemies into other enemies.) Item Name- Shock Bracelet Price- 1500 Rings When Available- Needed to get into Act 4: White Acropolis ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 4.e. Blaze's Moves ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Blaze has a pretty decent homing attack and a powerful spinning fire attack. Kind of similar to Sonic's attacks because of her Homing Attack and Spin-dash like moves, but her Homing Attack and Dash uses Attack Button instead of Jump unlike Sonic or Shadow and takes getting used to, sort of like Knuckles and Sonic combined. Accelerator Tornado- Jump button during Jump A lateral mid-air spin to reach higher areas and attack enemies as you land. (Small Double Jump combined with an attack.) Fire Claw- Attack Button (tap) Homing Attack on enemies ahead. (Doesn't have nearly as much range as Sonic's or Shadow's Homing Attack but can still be repeated unlike Knuckles'. Sometimes, it works if you tap the X button a lot to hit the enemy more than once, but seems to work best if you let her flip first before tapping again... sometimes. Sometimes she will go into a Spinning Claw when you attempt this move, described next. Just the X button while standing still, running or jumping when no enemies are around will make Blaze spiral forward as a sort of dash.) Spinning Claw- Hold Attack button > Release Spin along the ground in a ring of fire, destroying enemies in your path. (The faster you are moving, the faster she will move during this attack, so it's best to run and press Attack toward the enemies, then release Attack. Basically, if you are at a stand-still Blaze will spin in place and you cannot move her at all, but if you have running start you will move rapidly. Press Attack again to stop this attack or let the attack stop on it's own after a short while.) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 4.f. Amy's Moves ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Hammer Attack and Double Jump are Amy standards, but now she suddenly has the power of Invisibility... but it's terrible compared to Espio's in Sonic Heroes because you can only see Amy's shadow and it doesn't last very long, plus she's frozen for a couple of seconds afterwards. Double Jump- Jump button during jump Launch a second jump from mid-air to reach higher areas. Hammer Attack- Attack button from standstill (tap) Attack enemies directly ahead with the Piko-Piko Hammer Invisibility- Hold Attack button Become invisible to enemies for a short period of time. Note that she can still sustain injury during this time. (You can't see anything but her shadow, be careful! Also when it runs out, she will be stunned for a couple of seconds and can't move.) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 4.g. Shadow's Moves, Upgrades, Chaos Boost and Vehicles ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Kind of similar to Shadow the Hedgehog, but thankfully without the guns. Shadow has Homing Attack and a kicking attack like Sonic, but also has Chaos Spear to stun enemies. Plus like in the game Shadow the Hedgehog he has various vehicles he can drive, some of them required, and more powerful Chaos moves he can use with Chaos Boost when is Action Gauge is full. Shadow's Action Gauge starts at zero or resets to zero after a loading screen and can only be filled by defeating enemies or grabbing a Gauge Up Item Box. Basic Moves: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Homing Attack- Jump Button During Jump (Identical to Sonic's but has a longer range) Chaos Attack- Jump Button after hitting a Homing Attack (tap up to X5) (Use with enemies that require more than one hit to defeat. Shadow does a series of kick attacks while hanging in mid-air.) Spin Kick/Tornado- Attack Button (tap) Throws a powerful spinning kick straight ahead. Press three times to create a tornado that sucks in surrounding enemies causing them damage. (Can be used while running or at a stand-still, but the Tornado is only created if you are at a stand-still) Chaos Spear- Attack button during Jump Fire off electric bolts that shock and suspend the enemies. (Temporarily paralyzes enemies so they can't move. Also when using Chaos Spear, Shadow will hang in mid-air, you can use this trick to do a controlled fall, handy for grabbing some Silver Medals. You can even fall, then stop again, but if you Jump Dash, you will not be able to stop again.) Upgrades: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Light Dash- Attack button near a path of Rings (Identical to Sonic's Light Dash) Item Name- Air Chip Price- 100 Rings When Available- Before Act 2: Kingdom Valley. Item needed to continue story. Chaos Boost Upgrades: Special Action Button ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ When you get the first one of the Memory Shard Upgrades, you can activate Chaos Boost with Special Action if you have a full Action Gauge. Shadow will glow red to indicate Chaos Boost is in effect, the Action Gauge will go down slowly, if it goes to zero the Chaos Boost will go away. If you defeat enemies during Chaos Boost you can help keep the gauge full. There is a gauge that indicates Boost Level, if you have the Red and/or Black Memory Shards you need to increase the Boost Level by pressing Special Action one more time during Chaos Boost to get Chaos Lance and another time after that to get Chaos Blast. This will make your Action Gauge decrease at a higher rate. Be careful! Chaos Boost severely decreases the range of Jump Dash! This can mess you up in certain areas where you have to jump far, also after using Homing Attack on one enemy, Shadow if he doesn't see any nearby might decide to randomly drop straight down. The following upgrade moves can only be used during Chaos Boost. Chaos Snap- Hold Attack Button (Boost Lv. 1) Instantly warps in front of the enemies (up to five) for a chain of attacks. (It's an automatic Homing Attack Chain that can unfortunately sometimes mess you up if you are in Chaos Boost and not around a lot of enemies, be careful... If you run into a multi-hit enemy, you need to start tapping the Attack Button to go into Chaos Attack.) Item Name- Memory Shard (blue) Price- 500 Rings When Available- Before Act 2: Kingdom Valley. Item needed to continue story. Chaos Lance- Attack button during jump (Boost Lv. 2) Fire Red Chaos Spears to destroy enemies (Activate Boost Lv. 2 by pressing Special Action again during Chaos Boost. Creates a red Chaos Spear that does a single hit worth of damage, also stuns larger enemies.) Item Name- Memory Shard (red) Price- 6000 Rings When Available- Before Act 5: Radical Train. Chaos Blast- Jump then hold Special Action (Boost Lv. 3) Wipe out everything within a 10-yard range. Can be used multiple times (note: 10 yards is inaccurate, it's more like one foot... seriously...) (Activate Boost Lv. 3 by pressing Special Action two times during Chaos Boost. To use Chaos Blast, you first need to jump, then hold Special Action. It takes a couple of seconds to charge, but will kill anything in close proximity to Shadow. Especially good for enemies that are slow-moving and take many hits to defeat, like giant rock monsters and large Eggman robots. Takes out more life than normal from bosses, but doesn't kill them completely.) Item Name- Memory Shard (black) Price- 10000 Rings When Available- Before Act 7: Wave Ocean. Vehicles: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Press the Mount/Dismount Vehicle button (Y or ^) to enter and exit vehicles. When you are in a vehicle a damage bar appears, if you sustain too much damage by hitting things or attacked by enemies your vehicle will explode, but thankfully most of the time you can get another vehicle and Shadow isn't hurt and doesn't lose Rings at all and won't die if hit with no Rings. Also vehicles have an ammunition gauge, when you run out of ammunition you have to wait a little while for Shadow to reload, it will also reload to full if you don't use your ammo for a while. Here is the booklet's vehicle info: Buggy A sturdy ground vehicle for city use as well as rougher terrain Jump button- Accelerate Jump button X2- Turbo Attack button- Brake/Reverse Left Stick- Steer Special Action- Homing Missile (homes in on targets) Ammo Amount before reload: 2 Bike Faster than the buggy, but more easily damaged Jump button- Accelerate Jump button X2- Turbo Attack button- Brake-Reverse Special Action- Machine Gun (doesn't home) Ammo Amount before reload: 100 (note, the bike is hard to steer) Glider A light but agile aircraft Jump button- Accelerate Jump button x2- Turbo Left Stick- Steer, Adjust Pitch Special Action- Homing Missile (same as Buggy) Hover Craft Suitable for both aquatic and desert terrain Jump button- Accelerate Jump button X2- Hover Jump Attack button- Brake/Reverse Left Stick- Steer Special Action- Machine Gun (same as Bike) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 4.h. Rouge's Moves ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ She glides and climbs like in Sonic Adventure 2 and also throws and plants bombs. Glide- Jump button during Jump (Hold) Gently glide forward and downward. (Release to make her drop) Climb- Fly towards surface > Left Stick Rouge clings to vertical surfaces she glides into, allowing her to climb. (Note: To get off the surface press the jump button, but this seems a little glitched in this game, just keep trying and eventually she will come off the wall. It's also easier just to climb to the top or even turn a corner and she will fall off.) Bomb- Attack button Place (Attack button from standstill), launch (press Attack button during jump) or scatter (hold Attack button during jump) a variety of bombs and other explosives. (Note: she can also plant bombs on walls she is climbing on, you will need to do this during Kingdom Valley on a large stain-glass window to continue on.) Bomb Snipe- Hold Attack button Switch to first-person view and use the right stick to aim a shot. Release the Attack button to fire. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 4.i. Omega's Moves ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Pretty similar to Sonic Heroes, and he can also lock-on to enemies like Gamma in Sonic Adventure, except with no indication of which enemies he is locked onto and you need to be facing the enemies when you fire. Hover- Jump button during Jump Hover a short distance above the ground until the gauge runs out. Use the left stick to move freely. (Note: I don't know what the booklet is talking about... no gauge, it's similar to Knuckles' and Rouge's Glide.) Omega Shot- Attack button (tap) Fire a spray of pellets at enemies ahead of you. Omega Launcher- Attack button during jump (tap) Launch destructive fireballs from mid-air directly at surrounding enemies. (Longer range than Omega Shot and does more hits worth of damage to larger enemies, Omega will float in one place during mid-air, making it useful even during jumps) Lock-on Shot- Hold Attack button > Release Use the left stick to lock-on to a number of surrounding enemies, then release to attack with a Homing Laser. (On ground or while jumping) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 5. Level Objects ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Things found in Acts, Bosses and Town Missions that can either help you or hurt you... There are more than this, these are the more common ones. General: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Point Marker (checkpoint): Touch the gate with the two lampposts and if you die you can start from here instead of at the beginning of the level. Hint Ring: Touch the multicolored question mark ring to get a tip. Ring: Collect these to protect you from attacks, if you are attacked by small bullets (Vulcan Cannon) you will lose one Ring, but if you are attacked by something more powerful you will lose all of them but you can pick them up again before they disappear. If you are hurt without a Ring you will lose a life. Get 100 Rings and earn an extra life. Item Box: Contains a helpful item, listed in the next section. Spring: Bounce up high Dash Panel and Dash Ramp: Increases your speed, often hard to stop after touching one or automatically takes you through an area. Rail: Grind on a vertical surface on a pre-set path. Controls for Rails are discussed in the Character Moves section. Rainbow Hoop: Travel through one of these to be sent very far and to get 1000 Points, traveling through more will earn you even more points. Flight Ring: A green ring that will help Tails reach higher areas. Silver Medal: Found in Town Stages and Acts, collecting them all will help you earn Gold Medals. See Silver Medal section for more details. Light Cores and Chaos Drives: Come from enemies and help you replenish your Action Gauge, they automatically go toward you. Light Cores are found in Monsters, Chaos Drives in Eggman's Robots. Switches and Telekenesis Markers: Used to open doors, put down laser gates, etc. For Silver many switches are replaced with green Telekenesis markers and might also move around level objects. Goal Ring: Large Ring at the end of an Act or some Town Missions. Item Boxes: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Rings Not only do they protect you from dying when you are hit, but they also count for points and they can be used as money in the shop. 5, 10 or 20 Rings. Shield Protects you from losing Rings or Dying once. Doesn't work if you fall down a bottomless pit. (This item is in the booklet, but no one including me has ever seen it in-game) Gauge up Replenishes the Action Gauge (completely full) Invincible Become invincible from attacks that would make you lose Rings for a limited time (For all characters except Sonic the sparkles for some reason seem absent, but it still works) High Speed (super sneakers) Increase running speed (Rarely appears, but it's there) 1-up Earn an extra life Moveable/Breakable: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ (Some of the more common ones) Wooden Box with Star: Breakable box, smash it open to sometimes find goodies inside or pick it up with Silver's powers to attack enemies. Silver can stand on top of this or any box then use his powers to float him and the box around to reach higher areas or to levitate longer distances. Metal Box: Unbreakable, mostly useful in Silver levels. Bomb Box: These red boxes when smashed will hurt many enemies all around. Electric Box: These blue boxes if smashed will stun nearby enemies. Silver can pick up stunned enemies with his psychokenesis. Spiky Ball: Don't touch, but Silver can pick this object up and throw it at enemies with his powers. Pile of Rocks: Smash them to reveal items inside, or turn them into a weapon with Silver's powers. Barrier: Comes in the form of a wooden door or ice wall, etc... Attack it to break to move on. Barrels: Some Town Missions and Soleanna. Fling them around with Silver, they are highly breakable Blue Oil Drum: Some Town Missions and the Town Areas. Crinkles if hit, another Silver thrown object. Red Oil Drum: Some Town Missions. In one Town Mission they can explode! But identical to Blue Oil Drum in others. Red and White Barricades: Some Town Missions. You get 500 points for smashing these little things for some reason. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 6. Enemies: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Enemies are found in Acts and some Bosses and Town Missions and come in two basic types, Eggman Robots created by the evil scientist himself and Monsters that are associated with Iblis or Mephelis. No only are their a wide variety of enemies, but there are different color varieties of each one that slightly differ in attacks/number of hits. Also depending on character the enemy might take a different strategy to defeat. Some enemies are "leaders" of a group, which means if you kill it all surrounding enemies will also instantly die, giving you lots of points. The leader is the one in the group that is different and will be harder to kill than the rest, but it's worth it. Basic Point Values for Enemies: 1 hit to defeat- 100 Points 2 hits to defeat- 120 Points 3 hits to defeat- 300 Points 4 or 5 hits to defeat- 1000 Points Multiple enemy at one time Bonus- (if you destroy the leader of the group, the leader doesn't count as part of the bonus) 600 for 3, 500 more for each enemy over 3 Here is a list first split into Eggman Robots and Monsters including basic types of ammo that multiple enemies might fire, than a listing of the basic types with notes about difference in colors. If I miss an enemy tell me and I'll correct it later. I do know these are not the "proper" names of the enemies, I might add that info later. Camouflaged robots are hard to see, but you will see their glowing outline sometimes, often they are leaders of groups or using Homing Attack on them will lead to a hidden area. Note: Since Amy can only attack one way, I didn't mention info for her. Sometimes I leave a character out if I think I haven't encountered that enemy with them. Note: Number of hits is with standard attacks, might take more or less. Some hit numbers may be a bit off... correct me if I'm wrong. Tips: Use a lower attack for enemies on the ground, a higher attack for enemies up high. Throwing bigger things with Silver's Telekenesis will count as more hits. Don't just attack blindly, wait till the enemy is not firing at you and always keep an eye out for incoming projectiles. Eggman's Robots ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Basic Ammo Types: Vulcan Cannon: Small bullets that take one Ring at a time. Missiles: Go Straight ahead, lose all Rings if you are hit. Silver can catch these Homing Missiles: They come toward you. With larger ones, often the blast will send your dropped Rings flying off in different directions. Silver can catch these. Blue Energy Bullets: They look dangerously like Light Cores/Chaos Drives and they home in on you but will hurt you if they touch you. Silver can catch these. Laser Beams: Large dangerous beams that go off in one direction, can be small or large. Red Bombs: Small exploding Bombs that Red Crabmeats throw at you. Silver can catch these. Gray/Blue Bombs: Will turn into a spot of electrical charge on the ground that will linger and hurt you. Silver can catch these. Arms/Black Balls: Projectiles Giant robots might throw at you. Silver can catch these. BASIC ROBOT: Robot that fires different types of ammo at you, the most common type takes one hit to defeat, some of the others take more than one hit and fire different things at you. They are either standing on the ground or sometimes floating in the air. Basic Attack Strategy: Easy to attack with just about anything. Gray: Ammo: Vulcan Cannon if you are close, Missiles if you are far away. Hits to defeat: 1 Black and Red: Ammo: Vulcan Cannon if you are close, Homing Missiles if you are far away. Hits to defeat: 1 Blue: Ammo: Vulcan Cannon if you are close, Blue Energy Bullets if you are far away. These robots will also try to float away from you. Hits to defeat: 2 Yellow: Ammo: Large Homing Missiles Hits to defeat: 3 SMALL: This small robot is trying to attack you with it's arms, or in the case of the red ones has two shields to protect itself. Attack Strategies: Sonic/Shadow- Kick, Slide or Tornado Silver- Thrown objects, or if you have a Shock Bracelet paralyze a bunch of them so you can throw them. Tails- Either type of bomb Blaze- Use Fire Claw on the ground with a running start Rouge- Scatter Bombs White: Ammo: Tries to hit you with it's arms. Hits to defeat: 1 Red: Always the leader of a group, wait till it put it's two shields down, then kill it to kill the white robots around also. Hits to defeat: 2 GIANT: A giant robot, will block you from paralysis sometimes when it's arms/black balls are attached. Eventually you will knock it to the ground, keep attacking it or it will recover and get back on it's feet. Attack Strategies: Sonic- Homing Attack Shadow- Use Chaos Attack on both Red and Gray forms or Chaos Blast Silver- For the Gray form catch both objects that come from the arms and throw back for an instant kill or wait till it sprays small bullets, shock it and them pick it up and throw it. Tails- Basic Ring bombs Knuckles- Screwdriver punch Blaze- Homing Attack or Fire Claw Rouge- For some reason only one bomb will bounce off the robot and kill it sometimes. Omega- Omega shot or Lock-on Brown and Gray: Ammo: Two Arms thrown at you or two Black Balls, blocks your attacks when the arms/balls are attacked. When arms are fired spins around and shoots Vulcan Cannon. Hits to defeat: 4 Red: Ammo: Two Arms thrown at you and then Lasers, also spins around and shoots Vulcan Cannon. Hits to defeat: 5 WALKERS: These large robots have two legs or they float around in the air, they fire powerful laser beams at you and can fire other ammo too. The legs are fragile, you have to attack it multiple times to get it to first fall to the ground. If you don't attack it in time the robot will eventually get back up. Sonic/Shadow- Homing Attack, Chaos Attack with Shadow. Silver- Throw Objects or what it fires back at it, or if you want to shock it two times to totally disable it so you can pick it up and throw it. Tails- Basic Ring bombs Knuckles- Screwdriver punch Blaze- Fire Claw to bring it to the ground Rouge- Bombs Omega- Omega shot or Lock-on Gray: Ammo: Small Homing Missiles Hits to defeat: 3 Blue: Ammo: Lasers, Vulcan Cannon and Small Homing Missiles. Hits to defeat: 3 Red: Ammo: Lasers Hits to defeat: 5 CRABMEATS: Small Crab robots that sometimes even cling to walls. Silver ones don't throw things, but roll into a ball and require more hits to defeat. Attack Strategies: Sonic/Shadow- Kick, Slide or Tornado. Homing Attack if they are on a wall. Silver- Thrown objects, catch the small red balls the red one throw at you, especially if they are on walls, or if you have a Shock Bracelet paralyze a bunch of them so you can throw them. Tails- Either type of bomb Blaze- Use Fire Claw on the ground with a running start Rouge- Scatter bombs or just throw them. If they are clinging to walls climb on the wall next to them and plant a bomb. Red: Ammo: Small exploding red bombs Hits to defeat: 1 Camouflaged: Ammo: Gray/Blue Bombs Leader of a group, even if there are a lot of them around killing one will kill everything around usually (I know of one exception, but this is almost universally true). Hits to defeat: 2 Gray: Ammo: Rolls up into a deadly ball and comes at you, stay away from them in this state. They will paralyze themselves if they roll into a wall. Hits to defeat: about 5 BUZZ BOMBER: Commands a group of smaller robots around it, or calls in more robots as reinforcements. The other robots help protect the Buzzer and the Buzzer is the leader for the entire group. Sonic/Shadow- Homing Attack Silver- Thrown Object, but sometimes it's better to use Paralyze Shock Tails- Ring Bombs while flying Blaze- Jump and Attack to Homing Attack Rouge- bomb thrown from air Omega- Lock-on shot Blue and Gray: Ammo: Will sometimes send out red shockwaves that call more, larger robots to the area, kill the Buzz Bomber to kill all the robots at once. Small robots surrounding it will either direct blue laser beams to the ground to protect the core or will fire Vulcan Cannon. The Bomber itself will throw Gray/Blue Bombs or shoots Missiles sometimes. Hits to defeat: 1 if you hit the core. Camouflaged: Ammo: Small robots that surround it shoot out Vulcan Cannon bullets or Laser Beams. Hits to defeat: 1 if you hit the core (I think). Red and Black: Ammo: Small robots that surround it shoot out Vulcan Cannon bullets or Laser Beams. Hits to defeat: 3 if you hit the core. RHINOS: Small robots that charge at you. They will sometimes put up a shield to protect themselves. Attack Strategies: Sonic/Shadow- Kick, Slide or Tornado or Homing Attack. Silver- Thrown objects or paralyze then throw. Tails- Either type of bomb Blaze- Use Fire Claw on the ground with a running start Rouge- Scatter bombs or just throw them. Green: Ammo: Sometimes Gray/blue Bombs, always will try to charge at you. Hits to defeat: 1 Gold: Often but not always the leader of a group. Ammo: Gray/blue Bombs Hits to defeat: 2 ROUND FLIERS: Roundish robots that float in the air. Attack Strategies: Sonic/Shadow- Homing Attack Silver- Thrown Object Tails- Ring Bombs while flying Blaze- Jump and Attack button Rouge- bomb thrown from air Omega- Lock-on shot Red: Ammo: Vulcan Cannon Hits to defeat: 1 Yellow: Ammo: Homing Missiles Hits to defeat: 1 Camouflaged: Ammo: Vulcan Cannon or Blue Energy Bullets Hits to defeat: 2 Monsters: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ All Monsters come in a common Orange type and a rarer Purple type that takes more hits to defeat and has stronger attacks. Basic Ammo Types: Spiky Balls: Come in different sizes, Silver can catch these. Small Orange Balls: Silver can catch these Fire Breath: A jet of fire breath Laser: A thin laser beam Dark Energy Balls: Come in different sizes, Silver can catch these Dark Breath: A jet of black smoke LIZARDS: Pretty basic, the red ones breath fire and the purple ones shoot lasers. Both will try to jump at you. Sometimes on walls. General Attack Strategy: Any way you want. Orange: Ammo: Fire Breath, also tries to jump at you. Hits to defeat: 1 Purple: Ammo: Fires a laser beam, also tries to jump at you. Hits to defeat: 2 WORMS: These worms not only spit spiky balls at you, but will suddenly appear from underground below your feet and will sometimes burrow underground again and appear somewhere else. A small circle of dusty fire appears before one appears. If you are too close to a worm when it burrows or appears you will get hurt. You can only attack sometimes when it's mouth is open, especially if throwing things at it with Silver. Also will occasionally swing it's entire body around attempting to hit you. Sometimes on walls and hanging from the ceiling. Sometimes the leader of a group. General Attack Strategies: Sonic- Homing Attack Shadow- Use Chaos Spear first to prevent it from burrowing underground, then Chaos Attack, or kick at it from below. Silver- Throw the objects it sends at you back at it, paralyzing and throwing is faster. Tails- Basic Ring bombs Knuckles- Screwdriver punch Blaze- Fire Claw is best Rouge- Any bomb. Omega- Omega shot or Lock-on Orange: Ammo: Spiky Ball, burrowing, sometimes swings at you. Hits to defeat: 2 Purple: Ammo: Spiky Ball, burrowing, sometimes swings at you, sometimes Dark Breath Hits to defeat: 3 DRAGONS: Flying enemies that will sometimes shoot things at you or dive at you. They will light up when you get near them. Attack Strategies: Sonic/Shadow- Homing Attack Silver- Thrown Object, or if not too far away Paralyze Shock and throw. Blaze- Jump and Attack button Rouge- bomb thrown from air Omega- Lock-on shot Orange: Ammo: Sometimes nothing, sometimes Small Orange Balls, sometimes drops Spiky Balls Hits to defeat: 1 Purple: Ammo: Sometimes nothing, sometimes Dark Energy Balls Hits to defeat: 2 GIANTS: Throw large Spiky Balls at you and if you are close will try to smash you. They are vulnerable to paralysis when the glowing spot appears on their head. Sometimes the leader of a group. Attack Strategies: Sonic- Homing Attack Shadow- Use Chaos Attack or Chaos Blast Silver- Catch and throw back objects it sends at you, or if it's glowing spot is exposed paralyze and throw, it's quicker to paralyze and throw. Tails- Basic Ring bombs Knuckles- Screwdriver punch Blaze- Fire Claw Rouge- Bombs. Omega- Omega shot or Lock-on Orange: Ammo: Spiky Balls Hits to defeat: 3 Purple: Ammo: Spiky Balls Hits to defeat: 5 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 7. Town Areas ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ There are three Town Areas that are similar to the Adventure Fields in Sonic Adventure 1. They are only playable in Episode Select, to get back to them after you beat the game just select a character episode again. There are three of them, Soleanna Castle Town, Soleanna Forest and Soleanna New City. The major complaint about this game is the Town Areas are too large and there isn't a large map, but there is a small map in the upper right hand corner of the screen that shows your immediate surroundings. Town areas contain level entrances in the form of Mirrors, Gates to other Town Areas, Shops where you can buy upgrades, and many different People you can talk to. There are two gates in each Town Area that lead to the other Town Areas. Some of the gates are closed when you enter a Town Area after completing the story and the gates closed are different by character, but don't worry, you can get to all three town areas again to find all the Town Missions and Silver Medals when you complete the episodes 100% as follows: For Sonic and Shadow, you can go to Forest and New City from Castle Town, but the gate between Forest and New City is closed. For Silver, you can go to Castle Town and New City from Forest, but the gate between Castle Town and New City is closed. If you die in a Town Area, you don't lose a life, but you will lose a life if you die during a Town Mission. If you have just completed a Town Mission or found a Silver Medal, pause the game and select Save because the Save dialogue won't come up automatically. Map Symbols: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The small radar map appears when in a Town Area and during some Town Missions. Green Dots/dots: You and your support characters Yellow Dot: Person with a yellow exclamation point. During a Town Mission can also be something you have to get or some other mission important object. Yellow Square: Shop Orange Dot: Person with an orange exclamation point. During a Town Mission can also be an enemy. Blue Dot: Person with a blue exclamation point. Orange Bar: Gate to another Town Area that is closed Green Bar: Gate to another Town Area that is open Blinking Yellow Dot: Something you need to find during a Town Mission or in town or an open Mirror. People: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ People give you info and take you to Town Missions. Talk to them by pressing the Attack button near them at standstill. People with Yellow exclamation points will say random, non-important things People with Orange exclamation points will give you a clue to where you need to go next or will even point you in the correct direction. People with Blue exclamation points will give you a Town Mission. Occasionally a Town Mission will have to be completed to continue Episode Mode, most of them do not have to be. Shops: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The places where you buy your upgrades. Talk to them like people. You will learn where the one in Castle Town is very quickly because you need to go there to get into the very first level, but the other ones are: New City: Yellow Monitor sort of near the beach area. Forest: Sonic/Silver- Yellow Monitor next to a tree in the forested area Shadow- Next to the gate to Castle Town Here is a list of all Shop Items for each character, more info can be found in the Moves section, items become available as you progress through Episode Select Mode. Sonic: Light Chip- 100 Rings Antigravity- 500 Rings Bounce Bracelet- 2000 Rings Green Gem- 5000 Rings Red Gem- 5000 Rings Blue Gem- 7000 Rings White Gem- 8000 Rings Sky Gem- 10000 Rings Yellow Gem- 12000 Rings Purple Gem- 14000 Rings Silver: Single-layered Extreme- 200 Rings Power Bracelet- 500 Rings Heart of Wind- 1000 Rings Shock Bracelet- 1500 Rings Shadow: Air Chip- 100 Rings Memory Shard(blue)- 500 Rings Memory Shard(red)- 6000 Rings Memory Shard(black)- 10000 Rings Gates and Mirrors: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Gates are large green doors with a Soleanna Symbol on them. If they are open you can go through them to another Town Area. There are two gates in each Town Area that lead to the other two Town Areas, but one of them is closed in each episode once you go back after completing the episode: Sonic and Shadow: Gate between New City and Forest closed Silver: Gate between Castle Town and New City closed Mirrors lead to an Act. Mirrors often have to be opened up by completing a task in a town or a Town Mission and only one of them is open at a time. After completing the episode 100% only one Mirror is open, go through it to replay the last few levels of the story again so you can earn more Rings for upgrades if you didn't get enough Rings by completing Town Missions. Mirrors that are open after completing an Episode 100%: Sonic: Aquatic Base Silver: Kingdom Valley Shadow: Dusty Desert ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 8. Episode Walkthroughs (Mostly Spoiler Free) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ In order to progress through the stories in "Episode Select" mode, you need to complete certain Acts and Town Missions and buy certain upgrades. What makes this confusing is when you are in Town Stages there are other Town Missions you can complete and they are so large you might find yourself wandering through them lost. It is not always obvious what you need to do to get where you need to go, so this is a straight-forward guide to the stories and exactly where you need to go and Act/Boss tips. This walkthrough doesn't discuss plot detail or cutscenes except for the specific mission names the game gives. The sections are clearly marked whether you are in a Town Stage (Castle Town, Forest or New City) and where you begin in the town stage, Town Mission Act or Boss. After you complete Acts, Bosses and Town Trails and they are saved, you can select them from a list in Trial Select Mode. Also, a Hard Mode appears for each regular Act. To unlock Silver's Episode you need to defeat the Silver Boss in Sonic's Episode. To unlock Shadow's Episode you need to complete Crisis City in Sonic's Episode. To unlock Last Episode you need to complete Sonic's, Shadow's and Silver's Episode. IMPORTANT NOTE: You need to pause the game and manually save after completing a Town Mission or anything else in the Town Stage like getting a Silver Medal because the Save dialogue won't come up by itself. NOTE: Town Missions, Acts and Bosses are numbered according to Trial Select Mode, not all Town Missions are required so that is why the numbers seem to skip in these walkthroughs. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 8.a. Sonic's Episode ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ NOTE: I mention the Gems in the S-rank sections a lot, but you will have to wait and get when they are unlocked later in the episode. I am mostly talking about going into Trial Select Mode and playing through all the Acts again. CASTLE TOWN : IN FRONT OF THE BELL TOWER BY THE OCEAN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Collect information about Dr. Eggman! Items in Shop: Can't buy items now. Where to go: Ahead you will see a Hint Ring, head straight for it and keep going straight and you will find Tails. CASTLE TOWN: FACING WAVE OCEAN ENTRANCE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Find out where Dr. Eggman's battleship went! Support Character: Tails follows New Items in Shop: Light Chip 100 Rings, but you don't have any Rings to buy it with. Where to go: If you head straight, you will see a line of Rings leads to the entrance of the first level. You need the Light Chip to continue on, but first you need to find Alberto Robert the shoemaker. Turn around from where you started and then head to the right where you will see Robert next to the shop, he will have a blue exclamation point over his head. Go up to him and press Attack to talk to him to continue on. TOWN MISSION #1 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: The winder of the Shoemaker Difficulty: Easy Points Sources: Time Bonus, Orange Rings What to do: Run, jump and use springs to get through all of the Orange Rings within 2 minutes. The Orange Rings are easy to find. S-rank: You get a total of 2600 points from the Orange Rings for an S-rank, under 30 seconds is 30000 points, so to S-rank this you need under 45 seconds generally. CASTLE TOWN: IN FRONT OF SHOP ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Head for the sea! Support Character: Tails follows What to do: You will now have at least 100 Rings to buy the Light Chip at the shop. Then turn around and head back in front of the ocean where the line of Rings are. Go up to the Rings and press Attack to activate Light Speed Dash to get across the water and get to the Mirror that leads to Wave Ocean ACT 1: WAVE OCEAN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character and Super Speed Area Mission Name: Pursue the Egg Carrier! Support Character: Tails, you will find him about half-way through the act, use him to find the switch to cage in the whale section when Sonic is in trouble. Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Difficulty: Easy-medium, Super Speed Area hard at first. Tips: Most of this Act is self-propelled. The switch that Tails needs to find is up high. The Super Speed Area is kind of hard to get used to, remember only do small adjustments for steering. - The ramp at the end of the Super Speed Area can throw you off into the ocean. When entering the rock corkscrew, enter from the far left side. Hard Mode Tip: The switch Tails needs to find has moved to in top of the Lighthouse, use a Flight Ring to reach it. S-rank Tip: You need a pretty good amount of Rings most likely, so be careful in the Super Speed section. Remember to tap Attack to catch lines of Rings. CASTLE TOWN: NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO DUSTY DESERT ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Collect information about Dr. Eggman! Get Lord Regis' approval and head to the Desert! Support Character: Tails follows New Items in Shop: Antigravity 500 Rings, you will need to buy this item to continue with the story. What to do: If you take the bridge to the right, you will find the mirror to Dusty Desert, but guards are standing by. If you got a little further, you will see a distressed mother, but you can't do anything right now. Nearby there is a gap in a wall with a hint that says you need to slide under it. Turn around, head back over the bridge, go past the fountain, then take a right over another bridge so you are back in the general Wave Ocean/shop area. Buy the Antigravity upgrade at the shop, then head back and slide under the wall, hit the spring and you will find a little girl named Francesca on the roof crying, talk to her and you have saved her. Then when the loading screen goes away, everyone is happy. You can now enter Dusty Desert, but you will find you have to beat a boss first! BOSS 1: EGG CERBERUS ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Egg Cerberus! Support Character: Tails follows Difficulty: Easy, the camera will give you difficulty however and you need to control it. How to beat it: This boss will charge at you. When it stops and lowers it's tail, you can grind on it, then you will be holding on to the horn on it's head. Now you can control the boss and you need to steer it into the other side of the stadium so the boss builds up speed so it will do damage when it hits the wall. If you don't damage it in time, you will be thrown off. - If the boss jumps from ground level or from up high, you need to avoid where it lands because of a small shock wave. Later on, it will turn away from the wall when you get near it, but keep trying and it will eventually smash into the wall. Huge help: The two large statues in the arena if hit will do twice the damage to the boss. S-rank Tips: Crash the boss into the two large statues and grab a pretty good amount of Rings. Gem Cheats: The Red and Yellow Gem are quite helpful, remember you can use Yellow Gem with any other gem by turning on the shield then switching. If you use the Red Gem, you can Homing Attack the bosses' tail at the very beginning. ACT 2: DUSTY DESERT ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Princess Mission Name: Escape Dr. Eggman's Minions! Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Difficulty: Pretty Easy Tips: Remember to keep the Action Gauge charged up and use the aura to cross sand! - The platforms that move in and out of walls have a small ledge you can still stand on next to the wall even if the platform goes away. S-rank Tip: You need to go off the main path and take side paths that lead to Rainbow Hoops and more robots. You need to remember to jump for one Rainbow Hoop at the end. BOSS 2: SILVER THE HEDGEHOG ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Silver! Difficulty: Medium, it will seem Hard at first if you don't know what to do How to beat him: He will use his psychokinesis to pick you up then throw you against stuff, hurting or killing you. The trick is Silver has to be close to you to use his powers. Run away from him and when he uses his powers on objects you have a chance to go in for a hit. You can tell when this is happening because he will sometimes yell "How about this!" or "Take this!" Don't Homing Attack him, use a kick or slide, because if you jump near him you have no chance because he will fling you up in the air making you lose your Rings, then he will catch you again before you even hit the ground and kill you. - Defeating Silver will unlock his story. S-rank Tips: You will need to hit Silver each time he stops to throw objects AND grab a good amount of Rings. Gem Cheats: Red and Yellow Gem are very useful, if you slow down Silver you can run away from him better and it will give you more time to attack him. CASTLE TOWN: NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO DUSTY DESERT ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Go after Elise! Where to go: Go straight across the bridge you are facing, between the fountain and the gate to the New City is a Lieutenant with a blue exclamation point, you need to pass his Town Mission in order to continue to the New City Town Stage. TOWN MISSION #5 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Who is the Captain? Location: Required Mission in Story Mode, talk to the Lieutenant in front of the gate to New City. Difficulty: Easy What to do: There are five lieutenants, but one is really a Captain! Two are lying and you have to figure out which two are to find the Captain! Answer: Pietro, the man you talked to in the first place. S-rank: Go into the mission and just talk to the same guy two more times. CASTLE TOWN: OUTSIDE THE GATE TO NEW CITY NEW CITY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Meet up with Knuckles! Where to go: First, go through the gate that has opened up in front of you after completing the Town Mission. Now you are in New City, you need to find the warehouse, a person will say follow the large road, and you can get there by just following the largest road you see, it's across the town. There are guards standing at the gate, but just simply jump over them or the wall and suddenly you are in a Town Mission. TOWN MISSION #11 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Battle at the Warehouse! Difficulty: Medium What to do: Destroy all the enemies in the area within 4 minutes. They can be sneaky, so look to see where red dots are on the map to find the next group of enemies. S-rank: Try destroying everything in less than 1 minute 30 seconds. Can be kind of tight, the most important point source other than enemies is keeping Rings. Remember to smash the fire boxes when you can. None of the enemy groups have a leader, so just attack away. When you get one group of enemies the other will not always appear in front of you, but you can see them on your radar. Red and Yellow Gem help a lot. NEW CITY: WAREHOUSE DISTRICT ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Head for the White Acropolis! Support Characters: Tails and Knuckles follow Where to go: Jump over the gate to get out of the warehouse district, then head to the path up ahead that is slightly to the right, go straight until you are forced to take a very slight right again, the cave guarded with lasers that leads to White Acropolis is directly on the other side of town from where you started. When you get near the cave, you will be sent to another Town Mission. TOWN MISSION #12 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Open the Cave Gate! Support Characters: Tails and Knuckles follow Difficulty: Easy What to do: Kill all the enemies so the lasers go down in front of the cave. S-rank: Pure enemy smashing in about less than 30 seconds, the Rings help too. Now head into the cave to find the Mirror to White Acropolis. ACT 3: WHITE ACROPOLIS ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Boarding, Support Character. Support Character: Meet Tails half-way through, Sonic follows Tails during this section. Mission Name: Head for Dr. Eggman's Base! Difficulty: Medium Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Boarding is touchy steering, but at least you don't die when you hit a wall, but you will be hurt if you hit an enemy. - The last ramp you have to trick by pressing the Jump button on or near the ramp, holding it a bit, then releasing Jump, this is how to do a long jump off any ramp. (but I have a hard time using it for other ramps in this particular level for some reason) Try releasing the Jump button in the middle of the ramp instead of at the very tip, it will work too, and less likely you will fall off before it is activated. - The switch you need to find after the Snowboarding Section is under ice patch on the ground, use a Kick to destroy it. - With Sonic destroy the searchlights by using Homing Attack up them, but Tails can fly over them and destroy them with bombs. Hard Mode Tip: The switch is not under the ice anymore, but is now under a pile of boxes. S-rank Tips: Kill a few extra enemies with Tails by activating the Search Lights. Remember to then destroy the searchlights afterwards for more points. I have also S-ranked this by simply going though the level very quickly, only killing a few high-points robots. ACT 4: CRISIS CITY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Boarding, Super Speed Area Mission Name: Find the Database! Difficulty: Medium, Super Speed Area Hard Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: Boarding here is more difficult, but still not bad, lots of rails! During the Super Speed area beware of flying cars... - After beating this level you will unlock the Shadow Episode. S-rank: Not as bad as I have heard. For both Normal and Hard, you can S-rank this with just the Rings in the Super Speed area even if you died earlier and lost your previous level points, that's how I S-ranked it! The trick is to tap the Attack button through the area to catch lots of Light Dash Rings, steering gently toward the Rings and to know when to jump, which is over the pipes in the first part and past the boxes later on. What I suggest is using Red Gem through the first part to give you a fast time, then for the second part go through the Super Speed area. If you don't get about 150-200 Rings at the Goal then go into the pause menu and select Start Over before you hit the goal, to get back to the start of the Super Speed Area. ACT 5: FLAME CORE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character Support Character: Meet Knuckles half-way through, use Knuckles to turn on all the lights at once to continue on. Mission Name: Find the Chaos Emerald! Difficulty: Medium-hard Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: If you fall off the walls you are running sideways on and you have Rings, you will live when you hit the lava, and you should find a platform nearby that leads to a way that is ironically a little easier. To help you stay on the walls, run on them without hitting the Boost Pad first. - Lots of places where you have to cross gaps with Homing Attack or Light Dash, be careful! - During the Knuckles part, you can either kill all the enemies first, then when trying to turn on all the lights start at the top near the door and then glide to the lower lights after turning on the higher lights or you can just run through the room quickly ignoring enemies and turning on lights. S-rank Tip: You should be fine if you kill a decent amount of enemies in a reasonable amount of time. BOSS 3: IBLIS PHASE 2 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Iblis! Difficulty: Medium How to beat him: You will be on a group of platforms floating in lava. In the distance you will see Iblis behind three orb lights on platforms. You can't reach the lights... yet... soon more platforms will fall down from the ceiling, but you still can't reach the lights, all you can do is avoid the flaming rock attack which you will be seeing coming from Iblis by jumping between platforms. If Iblis disappears, watch out, you need to just jump from platform to platform because he will reappear and take out some of the platforms. - Eventually more platforms fall and you will be able to reach the lights, Homing Attack the light to make it light up, or if you are pretty near the light and throws flaming rocks they will turn on the light also. Eventually Iblis will be attracted to the light and will try to eat it! He's just sitting there perplexed a little bit, all you have to do now is Homing Attack his head. - After a hit, be careful because he will send down more platforms destroying the platforms closest to Iblis, you need to wait a bit longer for more platforms to appear. - When his health bar is low, don't bother with the lights, stay far away from Iblis, he will charge at you differently this time, make sure you are not in his path, but he will knock himself silly in the middle of the platforms and it's a simple matter of hitting him one last time. S-rank Tips: You have few chances to hit this boss and you will defeat it in the same amount of time every time, so you need almost all of the 60 Rings on the field in total to S-rank it. Gem Cheats: Yellow Gem is your friend. Red Gem helps you avoid attacks, but because of the pre-timed boss attacks and times you can attack it, doesn't help reduce the overall time. Use Purple Gem to infinite jump and turn on the lights very early. These platforms are very small, and you will likely lose your Rings because of a hit, but light the orb and stay on it so you can get a hit in when Iblis attacks. NEW CITY: MIDDLE OF TOWN, NEAR SHOP FACING GATE TO CASTLE TOWN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Collect information about Elise! Support Characters: Tails and Knuckles follow New Items in Shop: Bounce Bracelet, 2000 Rings. You will need to buy this item to continue the story. Where to go: Turn around and head to the shop (yellow monitor) and buy the Bounce Bracelet, you need it. If you don't have enough Rings do a couple Town Missions. Now go to the Train Station. The easiest way to get there is to first head toward the gate you started off facing, the one to Castle Town. Take a right hand turn into the street just before the gate. When you get to the end of the street in front of the big red building, turn right. Now take the next left and you will be in front of the train station. The station will be guarded and you can't get in, so turn left and you will see a hint ring and a funny pillar with a green glowing arrow on top. Jump and press Attack to use Bounce Attack on top of the pillar and you will find yourself in the Train Station in front of the mirror to Radical Train. ACT 6: RADICAL TRAIN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Race, Super Speed Area Mission Name: Follow Dr. Eggman's Train! Difficulty: Hardish, Super Speed Area Hardish Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Arrgh, you have to save the Train from being blown up and to do that you need to hit a switch on time! What you need to do especially if you haven't played this level before is ignore enemies and get to the switch as fast as possible. Here are the switch locations, they are all near a closed door, you will have to press the switch on time to save the train and open the door, or you will fail. - Switch 1: Easily seen on the right hand side of the room in front of the door. Switch 2: Smash the three boxes you see to the left of the door. Switch 3: In a cage protected by a large robot, Homing Attack it to kill it very fast! - Jump across pairs of scales quickly so you can get across them, the scales will break if you stay on them for too long. - If you have trouble with the conveyor belts, run on the little ledge in between them. - For some reason, the Boost Ramp after Switch 1 can throw you into the abyss, enter this corkscrew from the left hand side. - For some reason this Super Speed Area is not as bad as the other ones in this game, the last part where you follow the train is actually pretty easy because you can grab Rings if you are hit by pieces of train. Occasionally at the very end you will die AND still beat the level at the same time. Hard Mode Tip: All switches are guarded by groups of enemies and you have less time to get to them, so run very fast and use Red Gem if you want to! S-rank Tip: Grab the first set of Rainbow Hoops at the very beginning of the level for a huge amount of points. Keep Rings and use of the Red Gem to slow down time will help you kill more enemies before the train explodes, for Hard Mode the time is so tight even with Gem help you still shouldn't kill all the enemies in the stage, concentrate on bigger ones worth more points. BOSS 4: EGG GENESIS ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Egg Genesis! Difficulty: Medium How to beat him: Two ways to Attack it! People on GameFAQs finally posted this, but second way is more of a cheat. Normal Way: Not that bad, basically this machine has four arms, use the robots that appear when the arms are close to the ground to Homing Attack on top of the Boss, then use a Bounce Attack three times on the very top of the boss to hurt it. Later on when you get on top of the boss sometimes the platform at the top is not out and you will have to wait and dodge missiles before you can attack the boss, plus there are less arms to climb on top of. The platform will go down again at this point before you are bounced off the boss, so just wait and attack again. This boss tries to hit you with homing missiles and lasers. After the enemies hit bar is at zero, it will still try to get you! Just run away from it so the ship doesn't crash into you. Easier Way: At the beginning, instead of climbing on the arms, when the machine lowers and the arms come out, Bounce Attack under the center of the machine to get higher, then Homing Attack to attack the boss the same place Silver does. Dish out three or two Homing Attacks in a row to do damage. S-rank: Rings are very important. Gem Cheats: As in other bosses, Yellow used with Red Gem helps a lot, but Red Gem mostly helps you avoid his missile attack since it can't really give you a better time with this boss, Yellow Gem is more important since it grabs you all of the Rings quickly and helps to protect from an in-direct missile hit. You can use Purple Gem to reach the top of the boss, but it is pretty slow. Sky Gem can also be used with this boss, but from directly underneath it and by aiming straight up, you will find you cannot aim this Gem from the outside of the area since Sonic is looking at the boss. Mostly useful to get on the top of the machine early. FOREST: IN FRONT OF THE LAKE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Escape into the jungle! Support Characters: Carrying Elise Where to go: Go straight ahead to the hint ring, which will talk about working together to get across the water, use the Aura to walk on top of the water and reach the mirror to Tropical Jungle. ACT 7: TROPICAL JUNGLE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Princess Mission Name: Avoid Dr. Eggman's pursuit! Difficulty: Medium-hard Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Use the Aura to cross water. - The flower bud springs are annoying but necessary, press the Jump button when the flower near full swing and you see a flash of light come out the bottom, but for some reason the best timing is slightly before the glow, when the flower is at the slowest part of it's swing. Unfortunately if you fail to spring off a bud you will fall to water below or into an abyss, you will live a short while if you turn Aura on, but will die when your Action Gauge is gone. - At one point you need to jump off a rail to catch a bud, then catch multiple buds and homing attack enemies between buds over a bottomless pit, so watch out! - If the turtle decides to go into the water, just put your Aura on and wait for it to come back up, actually the turtle is more of a temporary platform since you need to go past it to continue. S-rank Tip: Rings turn out to be the key here, I needed them for my S-ranks, also take the shortest routes and remember to put Aura on when hitting large robots to do extra damage. CASTLE TOWN: TAILS IN FRONT OF THE GATE TO NEW CITY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Head to the Ocean Where to go: Turn to the Right and head to the mirror to Wave Ocean. There are Boost Rings that will help you cross the water. EXTRA ACT: WAVE OCEAN: TAILS ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Tails Only Mission Name: Follow Elise! Difficulty: Medium Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Fly to the maximum height you want to get before you stop pressing Jump. There are very long flights in this so you need to make sure to fly as high and long as you can. S-rank Tip: Easy if you kill a lot of things and keep Rings. CASTLE TOWN: NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO WAVE OCEAN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Head for the old Soleanna Castle! Support Characters: Tails follows New Items in Shop: Green Gem- 5000 Rings Red Gem- 5000 Rings Blue Gem- 7000 Rings Where to go: You will be told you need to go to the castle, which is in the Forest Town Area, but don't go all the way to the other side of town, that gate is closed. Instead a guy nearby tells you to see the Bishop, he is by one of the bell towers. From Wave Ocean go in the direction of the Shop (buy Gems if you want, but not necessary) but keep going straight till you get to the bell tower, the Bishop will have an Orange Exclamation Point above his head. Now suddenly you are in the Forest Town Area. Go straight ahead and complete the three Town Missions in order to open up Kingdom Valley. Remember to pause the game and choose Save after every mission! TOWN MISSION # 18 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Test of Intelligence Difficulty: Easy if you know what portals to go through What to do: Remember the correct order of portals. Answers: 1: Take the middle portal. 2: Middle portal again. 3: Highest portal. 4: Portal closest to you. Then make sure you hit the spring and jump off the walls to the goal. S-rank: Very quickly choose correct portals. The part that gets me the most is not hitting that stupid spring at the end. TOWN MISSION # 19 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Test of Courage Difficulty: Medium-hard What to do: Kill all of the enemies without Rings. - The faster you move around, the less the enemies can aim correctly. Make sure to keep an eye on your radar screen for new enemies and their exact locations to help keep you safe. - There is one group of enemies that appear on top of a tree, get there by hitting the spring that appears on the roots of the tree with the camo crabs. On the top of that tree, hit the spring you see on the branch to get to the next area after you kill all the enemies. Kill the last red laser walker very quickly before it gets you good. S-rank: Less than a minute. The problem here is getting hit more than a problem of time. Yellow Gem can help protect you some and Red Gem will not only give you a better Time Bonus but will slow down the enemy's movements and ammo, making it more likely you will get through. There are a few camo crabs, kill them to safely kill more enemies around, in fact for the very first group of white enemies, there are a couple camos in the background, kill one of those first for an easy 1100. TOWN MISSION # 20 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Test of Love Difficulty: Very Easy What to do: Go through the portal next to Elise or Amy, it doesn't matter which one you pick. Probably a lot harder for Sonic than you, heh! - After this mission is over, catch a ride on the eagle to the mirror that leads to Kingdom Valley. S-rank: Choose a portal very quickly. ACT 8: KINGDOM VALLEY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character, Super Speed Area Support Character: Meet Silver, finish with Sonic. Mission Name: Follow the Egg Carrier! Difficulty: Very Hard, especially Super Speed Area Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: To get on ropes, Homing Attack them. To properly move about on ropes, press left and right. To catch a path of Rings off a rope, first use left and right to line yourself up in front of the path of Rings, then just press forward and when you get near the Rings press Attack. Tapping Attack will ensure you catch them, but if you press Attack at the wrong time, you might do a Bounce Attack straight down, not good. - Jump down collapsing staircases to make it less likely you will fall through, but also a small ledge is still left behind on the side you can stand on. - Super Speed Area very hard, When getting back on the pathway again from the horizontal water areas, don't steer very much or you will end up dying. Don't mistake a wall under the pathway for the pathway when re-entering from the water. - When on the water, don't go too near the top or bottom or you will be sucked in and killed. S-rank: For Normal Mode, if you kill robots along the way and survive the Super Speed area in one go, you will probably have an S-rank. For Hard Mode, it's trickier and you need to concentrate on hitting Rainbow Hoops and getting lots of Rings. In the Super Speed Area remember to tap Attack button to grab lines of Rings, but I know of at least one line of Rings before a jump that might kill you. CASTLE TOWN: IN FRONT OF THE GATE TO NEW CITY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Head for Dr. Eggman's Secret Base! New Items in Shop: White Gem- 8000 Rings Sky Gem- 10000 Rings Yellow Gem- 12000 Rings Purple Gem- 14000 Rings Where to go: You need to get into Aquatic Base, but first you need to open the door. Go right and head across the bridge and you will see Lord Regis with an orange exclamation point standing next to a three star spring. He tells you to ring the three bells of Soleanna to open the door to Aquatic Base. - The first one you get to by simply using the spring next to Lord Regis up to the top of the bell tower, ring the bell by using Homing Attack, now off to the other two bells, which are easy to find since the towers are so big. In fact after ringing the first bell head right and you will see a spring that will send you to a rooftop looking directly at the next bell tower. The third bell tower you have been near before, it's near the shop. - Now the entrance to Aquatic Base is open, it's in the big round building off the side of a bridge, the Temple. Basically head back in the direction of the second bell from the third bell, hard to miss. ACT 9: AQUATIC BASE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character Support Characters: Tails and Knuckles complete parts of this level, Sonic follows Tails during his part. Mission Name: Stop the Egg Carriers Launch! Difficulty: Medium-hard Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Laser gates will go down by themselves eventually. - The Silver Bubbles will bounce off walls and break when they hit a laser. You need to back the bubble up if you are near a laser by pressing back on the control stick. - There are devices in the level that are cylinder-shaped. Press Attack button or Homing Attack to turn them on and they will glow blue, killing all nearby enemies and drawing all small bubbles near the device. This will give you lots of points. - In the Tails section, there will be a room with a void at the bottom of it with lots of little Silver Balls in the air, but the exit is closed. To open this door, you must destroy all the flying robots, you have to either fly over them throwing Ring Bombs in hopes you get them or kill all but one of them by hitting a cylinder device, but the best way is to land on the small platform that is in sight of these robots and hold down Attack button to do a Ring Snipe, you need to aim by moving your field of vision so the enemy is in the middle, then release to fire. S-rank: This one is easy to S-rank for some reason if you make it through without dying. BOSS 5: EGG-WYVERN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Egg Wyvern! Difficulty: Medium-hard How to beat him: You are on a floating platform with this dragon-like boss flying around. Just avoid his attacks, the laser attack is really easy to avoid because all you have to do is stay away from the target markers on the ground. - The moment to strike is when he swoops at you, you need to jump and Homing Attack the horn on it's head when it's coming straight for you, then steer the boss into one of the metal crate things floating around to do damage, but only a pretty direct hit will actually cause damage. Using the Red Gem when the boss comes at you and when you are steering the boss around helps a lot. - After a hit the boss will launch electrified missiles on one or two sections of the platform, then destroy that part of the platform, then after that it's best to run around a lot because he will fire red laser bullets at you later on. - There is a Homing Laser Attack where he locks onto you that is easy to avoid if you stand well away from it. - Later on, you will need to hit the boss by using Homing Attack on two small robots to reach Eggman, this is easy. The final hit is simply using Homing Attack when the boss swoops in and is easy. S-rank Tips: Time-based, don't worry that much about keeping Rings. Gem Cheats: Use the Red Gem to slow down the boss when it is charging at you and when you are steering it around so you can hit the metal things more quickly and accurately. Yellow Gem will help protect you from red bullet blasts Congratulations! You have beaten Sonic's Episode! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 8.b. Silver's Episode ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Unlock by beating Silver in Sonic's Episode ACT 1: CRISIS CITY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character Mission Name: Hurry to Iblis, the Flames of Disaster! Support Character: Blaze, she follows Silver throughout the act. For part of the Act you switch to Blaze and Silver follows her, then the last part of the Act Silver finishes. Difficulty: Easy Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: A good training level, make sure to use this level to get a hang of Silver's basic powers and Blaze's powers. S-rank: Kill a lot of monsters. BOSS 1: IBLIS PHASE 1 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Iblis! Support Character: Blaze follows Difficulty: Easy How to beat him: There is plenty of things around the stage you can throw at the boss' head. It's easier to aim if you jump first, and if you just throw one object at a time. - His attacks include a flaming rock attack, stand there at the edge of the platform with the Special Action button pressed to catch as many flaming rocks as possible to throw back at the boss one at a time, plus this attack will leave flaming rocks sitting on the platform. - An easy to avoid attack is when he tries to throw a building at you, it's very easy to stay away, just look to see where the shadow is, and you can use the building pieces to throw back at him. His third attack later on is trying to breath fire on you. - When all the scattered things on the platform are used up, you have to wait for the building attack or the flaming rock attack to get more things to hurl at him. S-rank: Rings help, but what seems to matter most is throwing as much stuff as possible pretty quickly, but you might not want to you "throw all" because for some reason his hits seem less accurate when I use it. Not hard to S-rank. FOREST: NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO KINGDOM VALLEY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Find the Iblis Trigger! New Items in Shop: Single-layered Extreme 200 Rings Power Bracelet 500 Rings What to do: Head to the left at first. Near the hint ring that talks about consulting your radar, you have the choice to turn left or right. If you turn right, you will be in the forest, but all that is there is a shop on the right hand side of the forest next to a tree and a mission you don't need to beat. The correct way to go is left, where you will find the small lake. A green kenesis marker will be near the water, use it to make platforms appear across the lake so you can enter the Tropical Jungle mirror. Remember when levitating across these platforms to stand there for a minute to recharge your meter. ACT 2: TROPICAL JUNGLE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Normal Mission Name: Escape the Jungle Ruins! Difficulty: Easy-medium Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Logs are mostly useful for jumping off to reach higher places, but sometimes they will knock large balls off a platform and kill a few enemies. Be careful, turtles will duck underwater sometimes, killing you. The most direct way to the end is to stick to the higher route, the lower route with the turtle is easier but slower. - At one point, near where Silver says something like "I wish I could go up" there is a platform in front of you with two robots. If you look to your right, you will find a hanging Flower Bud (some people don't notice it and can't go further). Get up high, and then later on hit the spring that has a column of Rings above it to reach the end of the Act. - Kill a group of enemies to put down the lasers guarding the Goal Ring. S-rank: Make sure to grab Rings and kill a few extra enemies. I find the high path is the best. EXTRA ACT: WAVE OCEAN: BLAZE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Blaze Only Mission Name: Head to Soleanna Castle Town! Difficulty: Easy Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Easy and short, get used to Blaze's attacks. S-rank: Just kill everything you come to quickly. CASTLE TOWN: NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO DUSTY DESERT ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Find the person Amy's looking for! Support Character: Amy follows What to do: In front and a little bit to the right of you is the entrance to Dusty Desert, but it's being guarded and you are told you need a pass from Lord Regis. Lord Regis is standing by the gate to the Forest which is on the other side of town and has a blue exclamation point above his head. To get there, cross the bridge to the left of the entrance to Dusty Desert, keep straight, cross another bridge, then you will see the gate to your right. Talking to Lord Regis will send you to a Town Mission. TOWN MISSION #8 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Protect the Gate to the Castle Town Difficulty: Easy-medium What to do: Defeat all the enemies in 5 minutes. S-rank: About less than a minute without Rings or an enemy bonus. Use Paralyze Shock a lot of you have that powerup, then throw the paralyzed enemies and surrounding objects into the remaining enemies. Save the fire boxes to throw at the third large group of enemies that appear to maybe get a enemy bonus. CASTLE TOWN: IN FRONT OF THE GATE TO THE FOREST ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Head to the Desert Support Character: Amy follows What to do: Head back to Dusty Desert and the guards are now gone. ACT 3: DUSTY DESERT ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character, Puzzle Support Character: Meet Amy half way through, then Silver follows Amy, then switches back to Silver Mission Name: Find Sonic! Difficulty: Medium, second puzzle a little Hard. Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: The sand in the rooms that have waves of sand going through them is solid and the waves will just push you to the beginning again, but other sand that is at the bottom of the level is not and will kill you if you touch it. Piles of sand on solid ground are okay to touch. - The platforms that move in and out of walls have a small ledge you can still stand on next to the wall even if the platform goes away. - When at the section with Amy with the hint that tells you to double jump, DON'T... it's better to just land on the platform and jump across normally. - There are a couple of puzzles in this level. Both involve large balls that have numbers on them. When the number reaches Zero the ball will explode soon and you can't hit it anymore. The numbers go down over time but also if you hit the ball with the Attack button or an object you are levitating with telekinesis. The harder you hit the ball the more numbers it loses. - The first puzzle is like a giant pool table. You need to get all the balls into the holes in the corners. Thankfully if you don't get them all in first try the ones you missed reappear. Only push a few in the holes, others might naturally roll in. - The second puzzle is tougher, you have to roll a ball down a small course and put it in a specific hole at the end. You can't let it fall down the wrong hole. I put a tip for this course at the beginning of this guide in the Questions section, for now. In the future I am thinking about making a ASCII map of the course of where and how you should hit the ball. Hard Mode tip: The ball puzzle at the end changes, there are fewer metal boxes and a couple of spiky balls are now on the course that will also hurt the ball, the best you can do is move the spiky balls because if they fall into a hole they will reappear soon, actually they reappear if you move them too, but not as quickly. S-rank Tip: This level gives you a very good time bonus, it's easy to S-rank... if you complete the final puzzle quickly that is. BOSS 2: SONIC THE HEDGEHOG ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Sonic! Difficulty: Easy-medium How to beat him: Sonic uses Homing Attack to try to harm you. It's hard to get away from this, so it's best to throw stuff at Sonic to hurt him before he hurts you. If you knock him silly to where stars appear over his head, you can pick him up with kenesis and keep him frozen, but you can't harm him except by picking up more stuff to throw at him. S-rank: A little hard, you need to basically keep throwing things at Sonic and grab Rings at the same time. If you don't have enough Rings you still won't S-rank it. You can paralyze Sonic if there are stars above his head and freeze him with kenesis while gathering Rings, but I find when I do that I don't have much of a Time Bonus left. NEW CITY: IN MIDDLE OF TOWN NEAR SHOP ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Head to Dr. Eggman's Base! Support Character: Blaze follows New Items in Shop: Shock Bracelet- 500 Rings. You will need this item to continue on. What to do: Turn around and you will find the shop. Buy the Shock Bracelet because you will need it to use Psycho Shock. If you don't have enough Rings wander around town to do missions to earn enough. Now head back the direction you were originally facing, you need to go to the cave that leads to White Acropolis. To get there, go back the direction you were originally facing, then take a left and go toward the gate you see. Take a right hand turn into the street just before the gate. At the end of the street turn left and you will see the cave entrance. There are four switches that have to be activated at once to take down the lasers. Jump and press Attack in the middle of the switches to use Psycho Shock to activate all four switches. Now you can head to White Acropolis. ACT 4: WHITE ACROPOLIS ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character Support Character: Blaze starts level, Silver finishes it. Mission Name: Infiltrate Dr. Eggman's Base! Difficulty: Medium. Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Throw rocks at searchlights to break them to keep more robots from appearing and to free springs from cages. - The quickest way to the goal ring in the last section is to stick to the left hand side of the course, eventually you will get to once spot where you can glide across a gap and land to your left, keep going straight, then you will see an area to the left with a steep half-pike with red arrows, levitate over a hard-to-see hole, then go through this half-pipe and to the higher area where the Goal Ring is. S-rank: Not bad, kill lots of enemies and try to keep Rings. BOSS 3: EGG GENESIS ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Egg Genesis! Support Character: Blaze follows Difficulty: Easy-medium How to beat it: Throw a bunch of junk at the center of it, especially when it is lower to the ground and the arm things are not protecting the center. Boxes can be found on the outskirts and you can capture the missiles it fires and give them back to him. It fires missiles and a homing laser at you, and other enemies on the ground try to get in your way. - After the enemies hit bar is at zero, it will still try to get you! Just run away from it so the ship doesn't crash into you. S-rank: Kind of tough. You need to catch A LOT of missiles and throw them back quickly, and in-between throwing missiles you need to throw boxes plus Rings. If things hit the center instead of the four searchlights around the center it does a little more damage. Even throw stuff when the laser is locking on to you, if you damage the boss enough during this charging time more of the boss will fall apart and it will cancel it's attack. When the boss's health is at zero and it's trying to crash into you, run around the edge of the arena to find more Rings. I did it by defeating the boss under 1 minute 30 seconds with 10 Rings. TOWN MISSION #12 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat the Pursuers and Escort Elise! (Amy) Difficulty: Easy What to do: This mission is done by Amy. Defeat all the enemies. S-rank: Taking a spring to the roof to drop spiky balls on the enemies takes up a little time, so does getting a 1up that you will see when you get on the roof behind you. Instead just use the stun boxes first. Also destroy some of the barricades for extra points, and grab and keep all the Rings you find. NEW CITY: IN MIDDLE OF TOWN FACING TRAIN STATION ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Head for the station! Support Character: Blaze follows New Items in Shop: Heart of Wind- 1000 Rings. You will need to buy this item to continue with the story. What to do: Straight ahead is the train station, but you will find the guards are on duty. A guy tells you to wait for them to go on their rounds to sneak in. Actually what you need to do is turn around and head for the shop and buy Heart of Wind. The train station is near the entrance to White Acropolis, so hopefully you should know this part of town now and can get back to the shop. When you head back to the Train Station a Town Mission will start when you get close to it. TOWN MISSION #11 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Get into the station! Difficulty: Easy What to do: Hide from the guards behind the barrels and make it into the Train Station. S-rank: I like to run off to the right side, I find hiding is not very necessary. Run in back of the guard in the corner leaning against oil drums. Walk behind the last guy pacing back and fourth in front of the station, even though I swear sometimes he looks straight at me and doesn't do a thing... ACT 5: RADICAL TRAIN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: normal, puzzle Mission Name: Find Sonic! Difficulty: Medium Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: The scales come in pairs, putting weight on one scale will make that scale go down and the other one go up. So you have to do things like using kenesis to take weights off or using kenesis to put weights on. - To reset the scales, find the switch near the scales. - First pair of scales take the weight off. Second pair stand on the one next to the ledge where you want to go while holding about three boxes, then put the boxes on the other scale to go up. Next two pairs of scales take the weights off. - If you have trouble with the conveyor belts, run on the little ledge in between them. - To break down doors, throw stuff at them until they finally break. S-rank: Grab lots of Rings and destroy lots of enemies. BOSS 4: SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Shadow! Difficulty: Medium How to beat it: Similar to the Sonic boss, but Shadow also creates Tornados and throws Chaos Spears at you to stun you before attacking. Don't pick him up when he is stunned then get close to him or Shadow will create a Tornado and hurt you, but if you pick him up and move away from him it's fine. Later in the battle Shadow will use Chaos Boost and use enhanced abilities against you. Throw a bunch of stuff at him. S-rank: Pretty easily actually, I threw barrels at him in the center part of the stages, I kept grabbing him when he was stunned and grabbing barrels, the barrels actually regenerate if you use them pretty quickly, but get Rings also. ACT 6: AQUATIC BASE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character Support Character: Silver starts, meet Shadow, Silver finishes. Mission Name: Follow Iblis! Difficulty: Hard Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: There are devices in the level that are cylinder-shaped. Press the Attack button when standing next to them to turn them on and they will glow blue, killing all nearby enemies and drawing all small bubbles near the device. This will get you lots of points. - The Large Silver Bubbles will bounce off walls and break when they hit a laser. You need to back the bubble up if you are near a laser by pressing back on the control stick. - The second part with the bubble can be confusing because you have to get off it to push a switch, but suddenly your bubble might go away. Instead, avoid the switch! Steer your bubble toward the platform to the left of the laser gate with the Silver Medal on it that has a cylinder device. Then levitate ahead to the enemy filled platform, there is another bubble to the right of it. (Man, took me a while to not be tempted by the switch and to learn to avoid it) S-rank: If you kill things steadily, you will probably get it first try if you live. CASTLE TOWN: IN FRONT OF GATE TO NEW CITY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Stop Dr. Eggman's Plans! Support Character: Blaze follows What to do: Directly in front of you is a guy with a Blue Exclamation Point, it is a Town Mission you have to do. TOWN MISSION #14 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Protect Anna, She Knows the Secret! Difficulty: Medium What to do: Defeat all the enemies making sure they don't kill the lady-in- waiting. Enemies will directly attack the lady-in-waiting, so you might want to stay beside her to protect her or keep an eye on her. The enemies hovering above the water are toughest and need objects thrown at them. S-rank: Somewhere around 2 minutes 45 seconds. FOREST: IN FRONT OF THE GATE TO CASTLE TOWN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Stop Dr. Eggman's Plans! Support Character: Blaze follows What to do: Go across the bridge, then go straight ahead, you will see a castle wall in the distance. Here you will find three more Town Missions you must pass in order to get to Kingdom Valley. Remember to save the game between Missions, they are pretty easy but just in case! TOWN MISSION # 16 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: The Test of Friendship Difficulty: Easy-Medium What to do: Kill all the enemies within 5 minutes to free Blaze. S-rank: About less than 1 minute 20 seconds. This one is pretty tight, I suggest paralysis for the larger enemies and thrown objects for all the flying ones. TOWN MISSION # 17 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: The Test of Memory Difficulty: Easy if you know the correct answers What to do: Go through the correct warp holes based upon the questions. Answers: Mission, go to the right. Princess Elise, go right. Teamwork, go left. S-rank: Don't talk to the guy at all and go through the proper portals very quickly. TOWN MISSION # 18 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: The Test of Heart Difficulty: Medium What to do: Defeat all the enemies without objects nearby. You can catch bullets and also paralyze with psychoshock and toss the enemies around. S-rank: The most important thing is to destroy the leader gold rhino and the leader white hornets for a lot of bonus points, and to keep a lot of Rings. ACT 7: KINGDOM VALLEY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character Support Character: Silver starts, meet Sonic, Silver finishes. Mission Name: Follow the Egg Carrier! Difficulty: Hard Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Just press the Special Action button near bars to bend them, there isn't a marker on the ground. - Pendulums can be worked by using kenesis on them or near them. For the first one, you actually want to just use it as a platform or swing it a little bit and then levitate to the top of the second one. Use kenesis and press forward on the control stick to hit the tower. - The second pendulum you meet you can't get on top of it unless you use a box, but you don't have to, just catch and release with your kenesis to destroy another tower. - It's best not to swing the pendulums after the Sonic part, just levitate from one to another. - Many platforms and towers will have to be knocked down by throwing things or enemies at them in order to move forward. - At the part where Silver says "That container might help me move forward" you need to stand on top of the box then press and hold Special Action to levitate the box with you on it. During this time you can control where the box goes with the control stick until his Action Gauge gets low. Use this to go to the area to the right with the enemies, you can go higher and a little longer. Even if your box time runs out, you still have a little in your gauge to follow that up with a short levitation. - In the Sonic part, to properly move around on the ropes, press left and right, but you shouldn't have to, just homing attack the robots when you are high in the air. - At one point, no matter how many enemies you kill, more appear, that is because you need to catch their bullets to make towers fall down, just destroy the towers and move on. Hard Mode Tip: In the Sonic part, you will have to move sideways on a rope to Homing Attack a group of robots. S-rank Tip: Extra Rings at the end are helpful. ACT 8: FLAME CORE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Normal Mission Name: Find Iblis! Difficulty: Medium Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: There are many different routes, some of them slightly confusing in the rooms, don't be discouraged! - During the part where the sun object sends off energy waves, you can hide behind the natural rock barriers. Eventually you will see springs ahead, levitate to the closest one and you will be bounced to the top of the sun thing. Use your kenesis on the marker to make it collapse. S-rank: Make sure to kill lots of monsters, focus on ones that give you lots of points. I had a hard time S-ranking Hard Mode, I did it by taking the shortest paths and only going out of my way to kill monsters that were worth a lot of points, like giants and purple worms, and by keeping a few Rings, but I will admit, it's a little tough. BOSS 5: IBLIS PHASE 3 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Seal Iblis! Support Character: Blaze follows. Difficulty: Hard. How to beat it: The boss will throw a bunch of stuff at you and of course you throw stuff at him, but the trick here is the fact that if he gets close he takes out your platform! Allow him to do this too many times and your platform is gone! - When you have the chance to levitate to his head, Blaze will tell you when first time and do damage by using your kenesis on the marker that appears on his head, that seems to be more important than throwing all of the rocks, but the truth is all those rocks add up and you need to aim each one to hit so you can damage him enough before your platform is gone. - During the flaming rock attack, stand at the edge with the Special Action button pressed to catch as many flaming rocks as possible to throw back at the boss, plus this attack will leave flaming rocks sitting on the platform. - When he does that major meteor attack, you can even catch that huge thing and throw it back to him with kenesis to do major damage, if you don't catch it your foothold is gone! S-rank: Throw as many rocks at him as quickly as possible, catch many of the ones that come at you during the flaming rock attack, but I find it's better aim to throw them individually instead of all at once for some reason. Congrats, you have beaten Silver's Episode! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 8.c. Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Homing Attack up the side of the searchlight to destroy the light if you want to. Worth 1000 points, but at the end of Shadow's level it won't count as a destroyed searchlight, you have to shoot it down with the buggy. - If you destroy the buggy, you can find another one nearby. Some of the searchlights require driving up narrow ramps, be careful! You can shoot down the searchlights from pretty far away. In the future I might walkthrough where all the searchlights are. You can also destroy them from a long distance away, in fact if you drive up the Ramp that has Sonic's checkpoint on it, you can destroy all three high searchlights form up there. Hard Mode Tips: Shadow's first switch is hidden in a different place, look under a pile of rocks on the ground (I said this wrong in earlier versions of this guide). - For Rouge, you will need to find three keys, two of them you can find in rooms in the walls sealed with ice you can climb on and plant a bomb on to break, the third is in the ground and you will have to throw a bomb on a patch of ice to break it. - Shadow's searchlight part has a different area opened up now, you will have to find an ice wall toward the back of the large area and a crazy curved ramp, it's an area that normally Sonic goes thorugh. I might describe this stuff more later. S-rank: Kill lots and lots of things, remember to destroy the searchlights. BOSS 1: EGG CERBERUS ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Egg Cerberus! Support Character: Rouge follows Difficulty: Easy, the camera will give you difficulty however and you need to control it. How to beat it: Mostly similar to Sonic's but differs slightly. It has an extra attack where it rears up on it's hind legs and tries to stomp on you and it differs at the end, described below. - When it stops and lowers it's tail, you can grind on it, then you will be holding on to the horn on it's head. Now you can control the boss and you need to steer it into the other side of the stadium so the boss builds up speed so it will do damage when it hits the wall. If you don't damage it in time, you will be thrown off. - If the boss jumps, you need to avoid where it lands because of a small shock wave. - Later on, it will turn away from the wall when you get near it, but keep trying and it will eventually smash into the wall. - Last time, the boss will completely fling you off before you can hit the wall, what you need to do is Homing Attack the horn while you are still in the air and try to steer it into the wall again. S-rank: Grab a good amount of Rings and smash the boss into the wall 4 times pretty quickly, not a bad S-rank. NEW CITY: OUTSIDE THE ENTRANCE TO WHITE ACROPOLIS FOREST: OUTSIDE THE GATE TO NEW CITY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Head for the old castle! Support Character: Rouge follows New Items in Shop: Air Chip- 100 Rings Memory Shard (blue)- 500 Rings You will need to buy both items to continue on, but you don't have to buy them in New City, a more convenient shop awaits you in Forest. What to do: You need to first head into the Forest Town Area. To get there, from where you started go straight... a long way till you finally hit a dead end at the Warehouse district. Turn left and you will see the gate. - When you enter the Forest Town Area, you will see the bridge is out but a line of Rings goes across the bridge. Buy the Air Chip to get across the bridge, pressing Attack button near the Rings to use Light Dash, and you will need the Memory Shard(blue) also, you have enough Rings. Head through the forest till you get to the clearing and stick to the left hand side of the open field area where you will find the ledges that lead to the cave. Up there you will find a boy talking about wanting to get to the other side of a pile of rocks, and a Gauge up Item Box. Get the Item Box to fill your Action Gauge, then press Right Trigger to activate Chaos Boost, when Shadow is glowing red he will have enough power to break through the rocks. On the other side you will find a warp hole that leads to the entrance of Kingdom Valley. ACT 2: KINGDOM VALLEY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Vehicle, Support Character Mission Name: Head to the Recovery Point! Support Character: Rouge finds three keys. Vehicles: Glider and Hovercraft Difficulty: Medium Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: You start off the level in the Glider, the Glider is really easy to control and this part is no problem. Don't worry, at the end the level will continue on before it looks like you will crash into the wall. - Rouge needs to find Three Keys, two of them are easy to find and you can get them after defeating enemies. The third is in a room and you can see it behind bars, but you can't get in that way. You need to climb on a large stained-glass window and plant a bomb to break into the room. - When in the hovercraft, be careful of falling towers. - You can exit the hovercraft and get to some platforms you see around you, but you don't have to, you need to head through a tunnel to continue on. - To get on ropes, Homing Attack them. To properly move about on ropes, press left and right. - Jump up collapsing staircases to make it much less likely you will fall through. There will still be a small ledge at the edge you sand still stand on if it collapses. Hard Mode Tip: The three keys are in different places now, I will plot them out later. S-rank: Plenty of enemies to kill, but keep a lot of Rings, they came in handy. ACT 3: CRISIS CITY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Vehicle Mission Name: Find the Chaos Emerald! Support Character: Vehicles: Buggy, Glider Difficulty: Medium-hard Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: You start off in the Buggy and you find the buggy two more times, but you don't need it all three times. - During the second buggy section, either don't stay on it too long or don't use it, the way you need to go is off to the side and Shadow needs to go there without the buggy. - During the Glider part, you need to keep shooting at obstacles or trying to avoid them or you will damage your glider too much and you will die. Hold down Jump button to go faster. S-rank: This one seems kind of tight, keep Rings. ACT 4: FLAME CORE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character Support Character: Rouge turns on lights in one section. Mission Name: Find the Chaos Emerald! Difficulty: Medium Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: If you fall of the walls you are running sideways on and you have Rings, you will live when you hit the lava, and you should find a platform nearby that leads to a way that is ironically a lot easier. If you run on these wall without hitting the Speed Booster first, you will have more control. - During the Rouge part, kill all the enemies first, then when trying to turn on all the lights start at the top near the door and then glide to the lower lights after turning on the higher lights or just run thorough really fast while ignoring the enemies. S-rank: Kind of tight again, kill lots of things. BOSS 2: IBLIS PHASE 2 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Iblis! Difficulty: Medium How to beat him: Mostly similar to Sonic's Iblis Phase 2 except the back rows of platforms are not replaced when damaged until just before the very last of Iblis's attacks. You will be on a group of platforms floating in lava. - Eventually more platforms fall and you will be able to reach the lights, Homing Attack or use Chaos Spear on the light to make it light up, or if you are pretty near the light and throws flaming rocks they will turn on the light also. S-rank Tips: Similar to Sonic's except you don't have any Gem help. EXTRA ACT: TROPICAL JUNGLE: ROUGE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Rouge Only Mission Name: Find Omega! Difficulty: Easy Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: The laser gates around the goal ring go down if you defeat the enemies below. S-rank: Glide straight to the end (climbing up a few things of course for height) and just kill the enemies that are guarding the Goal Ring. I have done this level in less than a minute before. BOSS 3: MEPHELIS PHASE 1 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Mephelis! Support Character: Omega finishes boss. Difficulty: Medium How to beat him: Attack all the little black creatures around you until your Action Gauge is full. When they swarm you, kick a lot of activate Tornado, this will kill many of them at once. If on latches on to you, just keep going, hopefully you will destroy it before it explodes and hurts you. - When your Action Gauge is full, activate Chaos Boost and Mephelis will jump out of Shadow's shadow. Sometimes he will block your attacks, but if he is attacking you he will let his guard down and that's the time to bust out Chaos Attacks. Mephelis moves around a lot, but the camera stays focused on him. - But it's not over! Suddenly Omega appears and now you just need to keep attacking Mephelis, ignore the shadow creatures, the camera will still stay on him, use Omega Shot especially until he's finally defeated. S-rank: You need to defeat Mephelis as soon as possible before your Action Gauge runs out, then for the Omega part keep focused on Mephelis, Rings are not very important. If you have Memory Shard Black, Chaos Blast works very well here and takes a lot of life from Mephelis. NEW CITY: NEAR THE SHOP ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Meet up with Rouge in the warehouse district! Support Character: Omega follows New Items in Shop: Memory Shard(red)- 6000 Rings What to do: You need to head to the warehouses. You don't need the Red Memory Shard, but if you want it you can buy it. From where you start off just turn to the right and head toward the warehouses, they are not far. There are guards standing by, but ignore then and just jump over the wall or gate, you will find Rouge inside. NEW CITY: IN FRONT OF THE WAREHOUSES ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Head to the station! What to do: Go straight from where you start, then turn right at the large gray building to find the train station to find the entrance to Radical Train. ACT 5: RADICAL TRAIN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Race, Vehicle Vehicle: Motorcycle (necessary to complete mission) Mission Name: Follow Dr. Eggman! Difficulty: Medium-Hard Enemy Type: Eggman Robots Tips: Sonic had to save the train, but Shadow has to blow it up! You need to find switches to stop the train in time in order to use Homing/Chaos Attack to do damage. What you need to do especially if you haven't played this level before is ignore enemies and get to the switch as fast as possible. Here are the switch locations, they are all near a closed door, you will have to press the switch on time to stop the train so you can attack it or you will fail. - Switch 1: Under the two boxes to the right of the door. Switch 2: In a cage, defeat the three enemies to open it. - Jump across pairs of scales quickly so you can get across them. - If you have trouble with the conveyor belts, run on the little ledge in between them. - The Motorcycle is very hard to steer, plus you have to drive it off boost ramps with perfect timing or you will smash into trains! This takes practice basically. The last part you need to destroy the train as soon as possible by firing at it with the machine gun, you don't have to be very close to the train to destroy it. If the motorcycle is damaged too much, you will probably die because Shadow for some reason can't run fast enough to catch up with the train. (Yeah I know, Shadow could outrun the train, but for gameplay purposes they wanted to make it hard I guess) - There is another motorcycle at the beginning of the tracks, but I find if I skip the first motorcycle the train is now farther away and it's harder to catch up with it. Hard Mode Tip: Both switches are guarded by lots of enemies. S-rank: Keep Rings, for Hard Mode focus on enemies you have to kill and on enemies worth lots of points, you won't make it in time if you kill everything. BOSS 4: SILVER THE HEDGEHOG ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Defeat Silver! Difficulty: Medium-hard How to beat him: Mostly similar to Sonic's Silver Boss but in a more complex arena including trains that can block your view of him. Just like in the Sonic Episode he will use his psychokinesis to pick you up then throw you against stuff, hurting or killing you. - The trick is Silver has to be close to you to use his powers. Run away from him and when he uses his powers on objects you have a chance to go in for a hit. You can tell when this is happening because he will yell "How about this!" or "Take this!" Don't Homing Attack him, use a kick while running, because if you jump near him you have no chance because he will fling you up in the air making you lose your Rings, then he will catch you again before you even hit the ground and kill you. - You can make him fall down with Chaos Spear, but you can't stun him like this. S-rank: A little tough, I suggest staying in the center part of the stage between the two trains running back and fourth and turning around quite frequently to see if he stopped and picked up objects. If he is a little too close, you have a chance of getting away by using Chaos Spear to knock him down then running. ACT 6: AQUATIC BASE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Support Character, Vehicle Support Character: Meet Silver, Shadow follows Silver during this section. Vehicle: Motorcycle (not necessary) Mission Name: Follow Mephelis! Difficulty: Medium Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: Hitting the lava worm things with the motorcycle will count as multiple hits, if you want to. - Some gaps will have to be crossed by using Homing Attack on the little silver balls, be careful, Chaos Boost might mess up these parts for you. - There are devices in the level that are cylinder-shaped. Homing Attack or press Attack near them to turn them on and they will glow blue, killing all nearby enemies and drawing all small bubbles near the device. This will get you lots of points. S-rank: All enemies will still leave you slightly short probably in Normal Mode, in the last battle room, don't get the Ring Item Boxes before you fight the enemies so if you are hit you won't lose those Rings at least. In Hard Mode, there are enough enemies alone for an S-rank. You are in Castle Town... but as soon as you move forward you are thrown into a Town Mission. TOWN MISSION #14 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Save the Archeologist! Difficulty: Easy-medium What to do: Make sure the enemies don't kill the archeologist while destroying them. S-rank: Less than 50 seconds with Rings. CASTLE TOWN: IN FRONT OF THE GATE TO NEW CITY ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Get the Scepter of Darkness! Support Character: Rouge follows New Items in Shop: Memory Shard(black)- 10,000 Rings What to do: The archeologist will give you a puzzle about the priest's prayers and a dark candle. People with Orange Exclamation points will talk about three fountains. You need to go to the Priest's Fountain, people will eventually point in the right direction, but the closest path is to head to the right toward the gate to the Forest, then at the gate make a left and go straight and you should find the fountain. Use Chaos Spear on the four pillars around the fountain and they will light up and the Scepter of Darkness will appear. - After you grab the Scepter, you will hear an order to go to Wave Ocean. So you have to go back in the general direction you came. To enter Wave Ocean, look for a spring near the water to get you across, it's near where the rings appeared when Sonic used Light Dash to this level, the spring is a little hard to see but it's there. Dumb observation: The Priest statue is a woman, making her actually a Priestess. ACT 7: WAVE OCEAN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Vehicle, Support Character Support Character: Omega does one section Vehicle: Glider, Buggy, Hovercraft. Only Glider and Hovercraft are required. Mission Name: Provide Backup for E-123 Omega! Difficulty: Medium Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: Glider part is easy. - At one point after the Omega section it's not clear where to go, find a cave near the beach, you will press a switch inside that will open up another cave. - The Goal Ring is over the water, use the Hovercraft to reach it. Hard Mode Tip: The switch near the end of the level has changed position, it's now in the raised area on the beach you get to by first going past all the huts and then hitting boost ramps. S-rank: There are so many enemies in this level you can S-rank it on enemies points alone. TOWN MISSION #15 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mission Name: Destroy the Enemies Invading from the Desert! Support Characters: Rouge and Omega follow Difficulty: Medium What to do: Destroy the monsters before they kill a person. S-rank: Focus on Worms at first, since they are leaders of a couple of groups that are worth a lot of points. Use Chaos Boost toward the end to go faster. ACT 8: DUSTY DESERT ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: Vehicle, Support Character Support Character: Omega finds a switch Vehicle: Hovercraft (required) Mission Name: Find the Chaos Emerald! Difficulty: Medium Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: Pillars appear leading you through the sandy first part of this level on the hovercraft. Make sure you go directly in between each set of pillars to make the next set appear. You can't simply go to the next part, if all the pillars don't appear a door won't open. - You can explore more around the area, but make sure you go back to the pillars afterwards. You will find nothing useful at all however. - The sand in the rooms that have waves of sand going through them is solid and the waves will just push you to the beginning again, but other sand that is at the bottom of the level is not and will kill you if you touch it. Piles of sand on solid ground are okay to touch. - The platforms that move in and out of walls have a small ledge you can still stand on next to the wall even if the platform goes away. - In the very large room filled with sand with Omega, after pushing the switch you need to head back in the direction you came from, more pillars have appeared on the other side of the Checkpoint. - The brown horizontal bars in the last wavy sand room can be Homing Attack, press Jump when the glow that appears when you spin around on them is brightest to jump off a long distance. Hard Mode Tip: In the room that normally has a switch up high, the switch has changed locations, now it is behind a vase, just to the right of the entrance of this room. S-rank: Try to kill a pretty good amount of enemies in the hovercraft, but don't linger at the part for too long. Kind of tight, Rings put you over the top. BOSS 5: MEPHELIS PHASE 2 Mission Name: Defeat Mephelis! Support Characters: Rouge and Omega follow Difficulty: Medium-hard How to beat him: The first part is just avoiding stuff falling on the ground, you can't hurt Mephelis. - Second part is to defeat a bunch of giant shadow creatures. They fire lasers at you or smash their hands into the ground creating a shock wave and sometimes disappear then reappear somewhere else. The trick to defeating them is to wait till their glowing pink core shows, often before or after the laser attack. You first need to throw a Chaos Spear at this core to stun the creature, then kill it with Homing/Chaos Attack. - When your Action Gauge is full, use Chaos Boost to expose Mephelis. He will attack you with energy attacks, but try to harm him as much as possible before your Action Gauge runs out. He will make clones of himself, but the camera will automatically focus on the real Mephelis. - If you don't get Mephelis before your Action Gauge runs out, the boss will cycle through again and you will have to kill more creatures to fill your gauge. - Last hit is a little hard, he makes clones of himself in a spiral and is at the very top. Use Homing Attack near a clone, then let Chaos Snap work it's way up to Mephelis, keep pressing Attack seems to help. S-rank: You need to kill Mephelis the first time before your Action Gauge runs out, kind of tight, but doable. Someone said Chaos Blast is good here like in the first Mephelis boss, but Mephelis moves around too much and I failed when I tried to use it here. Congrats, you have beaten Shadow's Episode! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 8.d. Last Episode ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Unlock by beating Sonic's, Silver's and Shadow's Episodes. ACT: END OF THE WORLD ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Act type: 7 characters find the Chaos Emeralds Characters: Tails, Omega, Knuckles, Silver, Rouge, Amy, Shadow Mission Name: Collect the Chaos Emeralds and save Sonic! Difficulty: Hard (varies by section) Enemy Type: Monsters Tips: Beware the Eye of Mordor... this Act is split into 7 different parts where each character has to find a Chaos Emerald, each part is a distorted area of a regular Act and that info is listed below with Character, Emerald, Act and Difficulty. - The main difficulty in all 7 parts is the giant eyeballs that will slowly appear. The purple ones are not only deadly to the touch, but they are magnetic and draw you toward them! The orange ones are not deadly to the touch, but they throw boxes at you and disappear/reappear(orange eyes throwing boxes, I didn't say this level made any sense.) - The only good thing about the purple eyes is the fact they kill nearby monsters. - There is a purple or orange shimmer before the eyeballs appear. - To temporarily get rid of the eyeballs, you need to touch or attack the orbs that have an eagle statue on top, then use this small window when the eyes are gone to go as far as possible! - Even if you are close to the eye, you can still pull away from their grip by running. Knuckles and Rouge need to glide away from their grip. S-rank Tips: You need to go out of your way and kill monsters, even with Rouge and Knuckles, but don't take too long. - Also at the very end if you are going the most direct way, you can jump off the last rail with Shadow and make it to a small platform for about 40 Rings and a 1up, then hit the spring to the Chaos Emeralds for about 5000 easy-to-get points!!! Section 1: Yellow Emerald Character/Act: Tails in part of Crisis City Difficulty: Medium The first Boost Ring is a little hard to reach, but after grabbing it you still need to press Jump and fly again to make it to the other side. When on the side of the skyscraper, look to your right and you will see a tall building with boxes and things on it, the Chaos Emerald is there. Section 2: Green Emerald Character/Act: Omega in part of Flame Core Difficulty: Medium-Hard When starting off, hover to the left and catch the platforms over there since that is near the next spring. Next area, you need to kill the nearby enemies to open the door, the eyes when they appear will help you with the task of killing them. Thankfully an eagle statue awaits you on the other side of the door. In the next lava room, stick to the left for the shortest path, but to the right is an eagle statue. If you go to the Eagle Statue a platform will eventually appear that will take you to the spring, or you can just head directly to the spring. Find the spring on the far left hand side of that room, then you just have to catch a platform that is moving up and down to get to the Chaos Emerald, even if the purple eyeball shows up it's actually pretty easy to stay on this platform. Section 3: Light Blue Emerald Character/Act: Knuckles in part of Tropical Jungle Difficulty: Medium Fastest way is to glide a little to the left and climb up on the platform with the four boxes, then jump off and glide a little to the left to an Eagle State. Now keep heading toward the left of the stage to find the Chaos Emerald. Section 4: White Emerald Character/Act: Silver in part of Dusty Desert Difficulty: Hard This one is pretty hard. Start off by just gliding between the platforms till you reach the first Eagle Statues in front of the stairs. (Yay, I figure out the correct way to do this). Now at the top of the stairs, defeat all enemies and platforms will appear across the sand, or you can jump from very up high, fall down or land on the statues and barely make it across. Next part is mostly just a bunch of breaking free from eyeballs and levitating across gaps, but behind one eyeball is another Eagle Statue. Now run as fast as you can and get to the part with the platforms that come in and out of the wall. Instead of timing your jumps, you can just land on the tiny ledges by the wall to make your way upwards. Now in front of you is a quicksand gap, it's very hard to cross this if the eyeballs appear so hurry and levitate across it to the stairs! If the eyeballs do appear you need to go as far left as possible before levitating to the stairs to get out of the pull of the eye to the right. Now go straight ahead past a giant monster and the Chaos Emerald is on it's own little platform you can jump and levitate to, but you can also make another platform appear to the Chaos Emerald by killing all the monsters. Section 5: Purple Emerald Character/Act: Rouge in part of Wave Ocean Difficulty: Easy-medium This one is easy if you cheat... you can climb way up high on the stone pillars and just keep gliding toward the far end of the area from stone pillar to stone pillar, you won't even encounter eyeballs up here. Or you can get more points by gliding from platform to platform killing enemies along the way. The Chaos Emerald is on the right part of the beach before you get to the lighthouse. Section 6: Blue Emerald Character/Act: Amy in part of White Acropolis Difficulty: Medium-hard In some places it's easier to double jump to another high platform instead of using a spring because the eyeballs might get in the way. At the end, you need to kill all the enemies to open a door, make sure to touch the eagle statue nearby before going through the tunnel that leads to the Chaos Emerald or eyeballs will make it a lot more difficult. Don't use Invisibility, because she will be paralyzed for a couple seconds after she reappears, and in that time she could be sucked into an eye and can't do anything about it. Section 7: Red Emerald Character/Act: Shadow in part of Kingdom Valley Difficulty: Medium-hard Basically all the normal Kingdom Valley level elements like ropes and wind-rails are complicated a little bit by purple eyeballs. Also remember to wait for the eagle to appear to take you to another area. There happens to be a few routes though this section to the Chaos Emerald at the end, but the most direct route is best IMO and you can even take it to get an S-rank. Random Observatin: This is extremely similar to what happens in Sonic Rush if you think about it... Solaris, Sol Emeralds, the link is obvious :P BOSS: SOLARIS PHASE 1, SOLARIS PHASE 2 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Characters: Super Sonic, Super Shadow and Super Silver Mission Name: Defeat Solaris! Stop the out-of-control Solaris! Difficulty: Easy-Medium As in all 3D Sonic Extra Bosses easy to beat if you know exactly what to do. Before I describe how to beat this boss, first I will describe the moves of the three Super hedgehogs: Super Sonic: Starts off with an empty Action Gauge D pad: Move up, down, left or right. Attack button: Homing Attack, if your Action Gauge is full this attack becomes faster and a lot more powerful, this attack is pretty much useless if the Action Gauge is not full. Jump button: Keeping the Jump button pressed will allow Super Sonic to move faster. Special Action: Hold down to charge up the Action Gauge. Y or Triangle button: Switch to Super Shadow Super Shadow: Starts off with an empty Action Gauge D pad: Move up, down, left or right. Attack button: Red Chaos Spear, this attack does nothing really if your Action Gauge is not full. Jump button: Keeping the Jump button pressed will allow Super Shadow to move faster. Special Action: Hold down to charge up the Action Gauge. (Charges up more quickly than Sonic's) Y or Triangle button: Switch to Super Silver Super Silver: Starts off with a full Action Gauge, Action Gauge recharges automatically if not using Telekenesis. D pad: Move up, down, left or right. Attack button: Throw an object held by Telekenesis Jump button: Keeping the Jump button pressed will allow Super Silver to move faster. Special Action: Press and Hold to pick up spiky balls coming at you with Telekenesis. This will use up some of your Action Gauge. Unlike his normal kenesis, you need to keep the Right Trigger pressed down to hold on to and even when throwing the objects. Y or triangle button: Switch to Super Sonic Super Differences: Sonic needs more time to charge up, but does more damage in one hit than Shadow, but overall Shadow is the easiest to work with. Silver does a small amount of damage with only one spiky ball, but more if he throws a lot at once, but more than one or two tend to explode before reaching Solaris. He is the hardest to use because you have to carefully catch objects then throw them and that takes some time plus the fact the projectiles can indeed explode before reaching their target. To properly attack with Sonic and Shadow you need to charge up the Action Gauge with the Special Action button before attacking with the Attack button, while Silver can float around and pick up spiky balls coming from red objects surrounding Solaris and throw them straight back, but you do have to rest a little to recharge his Action Gauge. Keeping the Jump button pressed also will allow you to move faster and avoid Solaris's attacks easier. Try circling around the boss or just picking a direction, right or left and moving to avoid Solaris's lasers and projectiles. Think of this boss as being a mixture of the Extra Boss of Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes, if you are familiar with those games. You can only control one Super character at a time but by pressing the Switch button you can switch to the next character if you Rings are running low or if you find you can't attack the boss. About Rings, like in other Super battles you start with 50 Rings that slowly tick away, but also if you are hit by Solaris's Attacks you will lose about 10 Rings! If you run low on Rings with one character, switch to another character for a while and you will find the longer you play as the other characters the character that is low on Rings will recover even more Rings. This boss has two sections. During the first section, you can only damage the boss with only one certain character at a time, Solaris will block attacks from the other two characters with a blue shield. When you damaged him enough with one character part of Solaris breaks off and now he can be attacked with a different character. The character order is Silver, Shadow, Sonic, then any character. If you run low on Rings with the correct character switch and wait around with the other two characters to charge up the character you need with a lot of Rings. The second section is different, Solaris ups his attacks quite a bit. The trick here is Solaris will block attacks when he is just standing there, but when Solaris is sending out Lasers he puts his guard down and you can attack with any character you want to, but Sonic and Shadow seem to do a little better with this section than Silver. Note: I am not sure, but it's possible you need to attack with someone other than Sonic first, but after I attack it with Shadow you can attack it with anyone. S-rank: (Strange Observation: I can S-rank this easily first time in Episode Select Mode, but I can't do it easily when I select it from Trial Select. I don't know if you get extra bonus points for beating it the first time, or what is going on.) Hit Solaris pretty soon, but I find Rings are very important, end the boss with a character that has a lot of Rings, you can purposely do that by getting him down to almost nothing at the end, then switching to a Super Character that has 50 Rings and killing it very quickly. I suggest Shadow for this final blow since he can attack faster than the other Super Characters. Congrats, you have beaten Last Episode! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 9. Missions: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Missions include the Acts, Bosses and the Town Missions. You complete an Act Mission by finding the Goal Ring, a Boss Mission by defeating the Boss and a Town Mission by completing whatever task is given to you. Based upon how many points you have earned from Rings, Time Left and other bonuses, you will be Ranked (S, A, B, C and D) and awarded Rings. Rankings are covered in their own section. (Note, this game calls Acts and Bosses and ACT mission.) You find Missions in Episode Mode, then once you beat them in story you can select "Trail Select" from the menu and replay them again to get a higher ranking. To find Town Missions after you beat Episode Mode you need to return to Episode Mode again to get back into the Town Stages and then find people with Blue Exclamation Points over their head, look for blue dots on the small map. For Sonic and Shadow, you can go to Forest and New City from Castle Town, but the gate between Forest and New City is closed. For Silver, you can go to Castle Town and New City from Forest, but the gate between Castle Town and New City is closed. Almost all Act Stages are not available in Episode Mode again and will have to be selected through the Trail Select option. The Acts open in the Episodes when they are 100% complete: Sonic: Aquatic Base Silver: Kingdom Valley Shadow: Dusty Desert You can select Hard Mode for each normal Act in the Trail Select Screen. There are a couple tips for some of the Hard Mode levels in the Walkthroughs section. Hard Mode is basically like Normal Mode except more enemies have been added, more level obstacles and in some cases puzzles slightly changed. Gold Medals are like Emblems in other 3D Sonic Games and are earned by completing certain tasks. You get Gold Medals for a variety of things, in Act Missions you can get one for completing the Act, Getting an S rank, completing Hard Mode, Getting an S rank on hard mode and finding 10 Silver Medals. Gold Medals are disused further in their own section and also in the Gold Medal Section is a listing of all Gold Medals you can earn for each Act, Boss and Town Mission. Sonic, Shadow and Silver have their own set of Missions and different Act and Boss orders, below is a listing of locations and brief description of all Town Missions and following is a list summary of all three character's Act/Boss and Town Missions. All people mentioned in the Town Missions locations have Blue Exclamation Points. A version of my Mission Guide/Walkthrough is now up on GameFAQs.com ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 9.a. Points and Ranking: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Points: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Earn Ranks in Acts, Bosses and Town Missions by earning lots of Points. Points are obtainable through Time Remaining, Rings, Item Boxes, defeating many Enemies at once and other things, Time and Enemies being the most important ones. Here are some of the more common Point values, I'll have to figure out the Time Bonuses later: Enemies: 1 hit to defeat- 100 Points 2 hits to defeat- 120 Points 3 hits to defeat- 300 Points 4 or 5 hits to defeat- 1000 Points Multiple enemy at one time Bonus- (if you destroy the leader of the group, the leader doesn't count as part of the bonus) 600 for 3, 500 more for each enemy over 3 Rings: 10 Points for picking one up, 100 Points for each Ring at the end. 1up, Gauge up, Speed Shoes and Invincibility Item Boxes: 200 Points Rainbow Hoops: 1000 Points, Increasing bonus for more hoops: 2600, 4600, 8000, 12000 etc... Destroyed Box/destroyed or damaged Barrel/Oil Drum: 20 Points Defeating Boss: 10000 Points. Time Bonus (completing entire mission): I have seen inconsistencies between Missions in this area, usually a time under 1 minute is a guaranteed S-rank. I have noted for Acts, the bonus seems to go down 40 Points for every 2 Seconds. For Bosses, the rate is higher. Finding Stuff in Certain Town Missions or Acts: Varies, here are a few objects only found in some missions: Orange Rings: 100 Points Bronze Medals: 1000 Points Red and White Barricade Destroyed: 500 Points Destroyed Searchlight: 1000 Points Ranking: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The Highest Rank is S, then A, B, C and D. Each Rank also has a Ring Bonus that varies by mission, but you can only get a Ring Bonus in Episode Mode, not Trial Select Mode, so sadly you can't earn more Rings after you beat Story Mode unless you beat the last few stages in Story Mode over again. For each S rank you receive you get a Gold Medal, talked about in a later section. Note: I think the Rankings/Ring Bonuses are mostly consistent for Acts, Bosses and Town Missions and are as follows, if this is incorrect for even one mission please correct me. Ghaw, even after all this time I am finding problems, I will have to complete the entire game again and pay very careful attention to the Ranking I have recently made more changes... but I can't get motivated to check for each and every one... the most important thing is Acts require 50,000 points to S-rank, and most Bosses/Town Missions 30,000. They mostly differ in Ring Bonus and two Town Missions that require more than 30,000 points: Most Normal/Hard Acts: S rank- 50,000 points, 4,000 Ring Bonus A rank- 45,000 points, 3,000 Ring Bonus B rank- 25,000 points, 1,500 Ring Bonus C rank- 5,000 points, 1,000 Ring Bonus D rank- 0 points, 500 Ring Bonus Most Bosses: S rank- 30,000 points, 3,000 Ring Bonus A rank- 27,500 points, 2,000 Ring Bonus B rank- 25,000 points, 1,000 Ring Bonus C rank- 22,500 points, 800 Ring Bonus D rank- 0 points, 500 Ring Bonus Most Town Missions: S rank- 30,000 points, 1,000 Ring Bonus A rank- 27,500 points, 500 Ring Bonus B rank- 25,000 points, 300 Ring Bonus C rank- 22,500 points, 200 Ring Bonus D rank- 0 points, 100 Ring Bonus Some Town Missions: S rank- 30,000 points, 2,000 Ring Bonus A rank- 27,500 points, 1,000 Ring Bonus B rank- 25,000 points, 800 Ring Bonus C rank- 22,500 points, 500 Ring Bonus D rank- 0 points, 300 Ring Bonus Boss 4 and 5: S rank- 30,000 points, 4,000 Ring Bonus A rank- 27,500 points, 3,000 Ring Bonus B rank- 25,000 points, 1,500 Ring Bonus C rank- 22,500 points, 1,000 Ring Bonus D rank- 0 points, 500 Ring Bonus Last Episode Act: S rank- 50,000 points, 3,000 Ring Bonus A rank- 45,000 points, 2,000 Ring Bonus B rank- 25,000 points, 1,000 Ring Bonus C rank- 5,000 points, 800 Ring Bonus D rank- 0 points, 500 Ring Bonus Sonic Town Mission #16: S rank- 40,000 points, 3,000 Ring Bonus A rank- 37,500 points, 2,000 Ring Bonus B rank- 35,000 points, 1,000 Ring Bonus C rank- 32,500 points, 800 Ring Bonus D rank- 0 points, 500 Ring Bonus Shadow Town Mission #6: S rank- 40,000 points, 1,000 Ring Bonus A rank- 37,500 points, 500 Ring Bonus B rank- 35,000 points, 300 Ring Bonus C rank- 32,500 points, 200 Ring Bonus D rank- 0 points, 100 Ring Bonus Shadow Town Mission #8: S rank- 50,000 points, 1,000 Ring Bonus A rank- 45,000 points, 500 Ring Bonus B rank- 25,000 points, 300 Ring Bonus C rank- 5,000 points, 200 Ring Bonus D rank- 0 points, 100 Ring Bonus Tips: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Don't die! If you die you lose all of your points and you will start at a checkpoint with 0! Everything you gained from attacking enemies, grabbing Ring, catching Rainbow Hoops, etc... up to that point will be gone. The only Act I regularly S-rank after I died was Crisis City, and that's only by grabbing tons of Rings in the Super Speed Section. I have also gotten away with dying if I die pretty early on in the Act sometimes. Try to kill a lot of enemies at once for extra points by either killing the lead enemy in some groups, it's different from other enemies or by some other means, like in Aquatic Base with the devices. You also get a multi-enemy bonus for killing more than three enemies at one time with a Fire Box. Try throwing lots of picked up enemies with Silver into a Fire Box, or throwing the Fire Box into a group of enemies... For some missions and especially for the Town Missions a very fast time is enough for an S-rank, but defeating enemies and Rings also contribute a lot of points in Act Missions. Rings are important for some bosses. Most Acts are a balance between enemy killing and time, most bosses and Town Missions are mostly time. Time is more important for S-ranking some missions, Enemies in others. Rings count for points when you first pick them up and a Ring Bonus at the end. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 11. Silver Medals: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ New! I have written a Guide to all 380 Silver Medal Locations that can be found on GameFAQs.com Silver Medals are found in Town Areas and Acts. Grabbing Silver Medals help you get Gold Medals. All 10 in an Act and all with one character in the Town Stages will earn you a Gold Medal. Finding all Silver Medals in the game if you have an Xbox 360 will earn you an Achievement, Silver Medalist that is worth 50 Gamer Points. When you get all Silver Medals for one character in the Town Areas, you won't see a Gold Medal screen for the Gold Medal you just earned, but you will find it listed in the Gold Medal Results section. To get Silver Medals in the Acts after completing an Episode, just simply choose that Act in Trial Select, but note that Silver Medals do not appear in Hard Mode. To find Silver Medals in the Soleanna Town Areas after you beat an Episode you need to return to Episode Mode again to get back into the Town Areas. Some Gates are closed, but you can still get into all three Town Areas as follows: For Sonic and Shadow, you can go to Forest and New City from Castle Town, but the gate between Forest and New City is closed. For Silver, you can go to Castle Town and New City from Forest, but the gate between Castle Town and New City is closed. Note that if you have not completed the Episode yet, you will not be able to travel to all Town Areas. Silver Medal Totals: Sonic: 130 Silver: 120 Shadow: 120 Last Episode: 10 Total: 380 Tips: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ If you hear the medal noise, you are very close. You can hear this noise better if you turn off the level music in Extras/Sound. Not all Silver Medals can be found this way because they are not visible and don't make a noise until you do something else in-level. If you die after grabbing a Silver Medal, you will still have it if you have more lives left when you complete the Act. You will have all the Silver Medals you have picked up if you make it to the end of the Act and then Save the Game afterwards. But if you get a Game Over you will lose it. Dying to grab a Silver Medal comes in handy because you can grab a Silver Medal even if it causes you to lose one life, but hurts you if like me you grab a hidden Medal, but it doesn't register in your mind you never got to the end of the level with it... I literally was looking for Silver Medals that I didn't need to because I thought I had one I really didn't. Silver Medals like to hide on the other side of pillars, so turn around quite a bit if you are looking for them. They like to hide in areas of the level that are harder to get to. They also like to hide in objects like boxes, vases and statues. You will usually see a little bit of a glow coming from the object, but sometimes you can't see it till you smash something. Some Silver Medals will only appear if you defeat certain enemies or even do other random things. Usually it's a group of enemies you don't normally have to defeat to continue on with the Act, often they will appear shortly after defeating one group of enemies, so wait around a bit after killing everything in the area. Also when you defeat a group of enemies, look behind you, the Silver Medal will sometimes appear in back of you. Most enemy killing Silver Medals are in Shadow's Episode, but there are in Sonic's and Silver's Episodes also. In Castle Town, a lot of Silver Medals hang out on rooftops. If you explore enough, you will find springs that will take you up there. Sonic can use the Purple Gem to Infinite Jump so you can reach many Silver Medals with a little persistence, just remember you can't do this during Boarding, Princess, and Super Speed sections. Silver can stand on a box and use his psychokenesis to levitate to higher areas which will allow him to reach several Silver Medals. Shadow can stop in mid-air by just pressing and holding the Attack button to charge up a Chaos Spear. This helps Shadow get Silver Medals he needs to fall into because you can stop, adjust your fall then stop again to steer. Don't Jump Dash however until the very end, or you will not be able to stop using Chaos Spear anymore. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 11.a. Hard to Get Silver Medal Locations: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Most Silver Medals are easy to find if you kill everything in the level, smash everything and remember to look behind you a lot and turn the music off so you can hear the medal sound better and trample about the rooftops of Soleanna. But some of them are just plain very hard to find and frustrate people, while others you can see them... but how do you get them? So there is a list of the harder- to-find Silver Medals. The locations of all 380 Silver Medals are already up on GameFAQs.com, and hopefully in the future the Silver Medal in the Town Areas will be mapped out. Have some that bother you? Ask me and I might include them, they probably need to be in this guide too if they truly are hard to find. Note: I fixed this section after working on the full guide... I remembered Silver Medals not really there, one character's Silver Medals can confuse me to where they are at for other characters. Sonic: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Wave Ocean: One seems to be hard to find for some people, even though I found it pretty easily. There are two Silver Medals in the Super Speed Area's palm tree forest. One is pretty easy to see, but the other one is hidden pretty well, it's in the last part of the forest section. Also another one that might give you trouble, with Tails make sure to throw Dummy Rings at rock formations to expose a Silver Medal. Crisis City: There is one Silver Medal that is hiding in a high place in the Whirlwind Section near the checkpoint. I didn't find it until I flew over the area with the Purple Gem. There are two in the Super Speed section. One is between the second and third pipes in a box, can be very hard to see. Another is near the end to the far right of the stage you have to jump at the perfect right time to get it, let a line of Rings line you up correctly by using Light Dash on them, then jump. Flame Core: In the very last tube you are falling down before you hit the Goal Ring, there are four monsters that appear clinging to the walls, you have to kill all four and a Silver Medal will appear on the ground below. It's hard because they are next to fire columns, plus if you fall off the side of the tube and fall straight down you can't Homing Attack. The trick is to run quickly down the side of the tube and don't lose your grip till you are at the monsters, use Sonic's Yellow Gem, Thunderguard and he will be completely protected from the fire, and even Purple Gem to get back up there if you fall too far down... actually I never used the Purple Gem here, but why not? Except for the fact you might have to climb up to the top of the tube again... Radical Train: In the Super Speed Section, one is floating before a line of Rings, keep tapping Attack to grab the Light Dash and you might get it. Also, in two different spots in the Super Speed Section, a Silver Medal is on the left most speed booster ramp. Kingdom Valley: Near the end of the first section, before the Eagle takes you to Silver, there is a Silver Medal hidden on a small platform with a tree on it. I got here with the Purple Gem, or you can jump to it.. There is also a cave in this section with a hidden Silver Medal, it's hard to get to the cave the normal way, so here's a walkthrough: Starting from the beginning of the level on the normal path, take the second Eagle Ride. Then when you see a Rainbow Hoop, it's easiest to catch it, but it doesn't matter. After landing off the next air rail, turn to your right and you will see it behind the rocks blocking the entrance to the cave. Soleanna Forest: There is a Silver Medal in the building under the entrance to Kingdom Valley, there is a bridge to the right of the three pillars area that takes you there. Shadow: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Crisis City: Second section of the stage when you are on the spiraling Rails, there is a Silver Medal that is floating in mid-air, it is high above the rail you jump on to reach the Rainbow Hoop. As soon as you reach this section, jump off the rails! Hold Attack to charge Chaos Spear to keep yourself suspended in mid-air, drop a little, keep doing this while panning the camera with right stick till the Silver Medal appears below you, and control your fall till you grab it. It might take several tries. (Thanks to Turrican for telling me how to grab it properly) Flame Core: There are a lot of Silver Medals here that don't appear till you kill enemies. In the room that comes before the Rouge section, after the checkpoint and after all the springs you will land on a small platform in the lava with a circle of Rings on it. Pick up each and every one of those Rings, and flying purple monsters will suddenly appear, Homing Attack them to reach a high rail with the Silver Medal on it. The Medal will not be there if you don't grab all of the Rings. The Silver Medal in the tube before you get to the Goal Ring is tricky, use the same Chaos Spear trick described in the Crisis City section to control your fall and steer you to the Silver Medal. Don't worry about the fire, if you fall perfectly in the middle the fire won't hurt you. Wave Ocean: I missed one for a while in the Glider section, it's to the far right of the second crumbling tower section. There is also one at the end of Omega's section people miss, kill the three orange worm enemies to make even more enemies appear, kill all the enemies that show up for a Silver Medal. Soleanna: Forest Same one I described for Sonic. Also there is one in a branch of the forest tree closest to the Field. To reach it, hit the spring on the ground next to the small tree to get on top of a dead tree. Now face the tree with the Silver Medal in it and jump into the leaves. Once you get just below the leaves, Hold Attack to charge up Chaos Spear to hang in mid-air to spot the Silver Medal, then Jump Dash toward it once you have aimed. Silver: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ (I had the least trouble with Silver, but others might have more problems than me, tell me which ones belong here!) Crisis City: After the Blaze section, you might get excited because you see a Silver Medal ahead... but when standing on that road under your feet below the end of the road is a box with another Silver Medal, it's easy to look over. White Acropolis: At the beginning hug the left wall to find a secret shortcut, follow the twisting path to the left for a Silver Medal. Flame Core: In the room between the two "dark" rooms with the checkpoint, you need to kill all the enemies to make a Silver Medal appear. Soleanna: Forest Same one I described for Sonic Last Episode (End of the World): ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shadow's Section: The last one is way up high in the air before you get to the Chaos Emerald. To properly reach it, starting from the beginning on the normal path take the second Eagle Ride. Then when you see a Rainbow Hoop, it's easiest to catch it, or you can Homing Attack the flying monsters. When you get to the second Air Rail after that, don't jump on it. Instead, jump at the green orb again on the Eagle Statue. The Air Rail will change and lead to the Silver Medal. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 12. I have now updated them with the descriptions form the game with my notes in parentheses and the pictures that go with them. (But these are not Gamer Pics unfortunately... how sad, how much I would have loved that Blaze pic.) Unfortunately, GameFAQs.com won't change their list to make it clearer... oh well. I have seen this asked, no themes or gamer pics unlocked with this game. You can buy Gameer Pics and Themes related to this game with Microsoft Points on Xbox Live. Two-player: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I don't have another person to play with, so the best I can do is a basic description based on the Booklet and a little bit of info from a couple of people. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 14.a. Battle Mode: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ A split-screen competition game played by two players. Use any techniques at your disposal to beat the opponent to the Goal Ring. A second controller is required to play this mode. (Note, I have a second controller and messed with it a little, you get to choose if you want to play in Wave Ocean, Dusty Desert, White Acropolis, Crisis City, Flame Core, Kingdom Valley or Aquatic Base. Character Select- Choose one of the main characters of the Single Player games. Rings- Attack your opponent to damage them, and pick-up the Rings they drop. Players are repositioned to restart from where they last touched the Point Marker if they are damaged with no Rings. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 14.b. Tag Mode: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ A two-player game where each player takes on of the main characters, and they work together to collect Chaos Emeralds. The Act Stages are designed in such a way that the two characters must assist one another to complete the missions. A second controller is required to play this mode. (Note I have messed with this a little, I know you start out in Wave Ocean... but I can't get too far by myself it seems.) Starting the Game- Select the TAG STORY to begin a new game or continue a game you've previously saved. Alternatively, select TAG TRAIL to retry Stages that have already been cleared in the Tag Story mode. Rings and Lives- Although each player collects their own Rings, the number of lives are shared by the two players. When one of the players loses a life, that player will restart from the nearest Point Marker that the team already passed. If a player loses a life and there are no remaining lives, the game is over for both players. Teamwork- Critical areas where strategy and teamwork will be needed are waiting for you and your partner. In most cases, destroying nearby enemies or hitting the switch will open the way to advance the Stage. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 15. Downloadable Content: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Extra things for this game you can download off the Online Services of Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. I cannot get this content myself, because of my internet connection and the fact I DID trade in this game toward Sonic and the Secret Games, so I can only say what others tell me about it. Downloadable Content as of 3/20/07: Download 1: Very Hard Mode (3 different ones) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Asia, North America and Europe Price: 200 Microsoft Points for each one. (about 4 US Dollars each) Consoles: As of this date, Xbox 360 only in US/Europe (haven't been told as of 2/20 it's out for PS3, Xbox 360 and PS3 in Asia. It should be available to PS3 users in the West soon hopefully. Very Hard Move available as separate downloads for Sonic, Shadow and Silver. I have heard it might not show until you have completed the rest of the game 100%. According to the Sonic Stadium and other sources I have read, Super Hard Mode is mostly some level, spring changes, but there are some radical differences, like playing Wave Ocean as Sonic in reverse, Sonic goes through Dusty Desert without Elise, Omega and Rouge show up in Shadow's Crisis City, and the hard paths through levels are often the only ones open. You need 100,000 points to earn an S-rank. Download 2: Team Attack Amigo ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Europe, (North America?) Price: 150 Microsoft Points Consoles: So far Xbox 360. Team Attack Amigo is a End of the World-like level including Tails, Blaze and Omega and ends with the Egg Genesis boss. There are signs more of this Amigo episode with more characters might appear soon. It is scored as one level, and you need 150,000 points to get an S- rank. The level order is: Tails: Crisis City Radical Train Kingdom Valley Blaze: Tropical Jungle Aquatic Base Omega: Dusty Desert White Acropolis Boss: Egg Genesis (Thanks to such25 from Sonicanime.net for the level list, I also got info from GameFAQs and Sonic Stadium posts.) Download 3: Boss Attack (Three different ones) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Price: 360- 150 Microsoft Points for each one Consoles: 360 so far Boss Attack mode for Sonic, Shadow and Silver. You need to have completed the respective character's episode to play them. Play several bosses in a row. Bosses are harder and a few are areas where you are faced with tons of enemies. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 19. Fun Glitches and Junk: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Yeah, most of the game's glitches are annoying, but I have come across the occasional fun glitch or other silly thing. These listed below are usually easy to do unless stated otherwise. I can't remember when I read all of these... a couple I discovered myself If you know of another fun glitch, I'll appreciate adding it to the list! Sonic in Silver's section of Sonic Kingdom Valley/Two Sonics ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Item needed: Purple Gem When playing Sonic's Kingdom Valley, when you get to Silver, instead of touching him, use Purple Gem and start to infinite Jump. Jump to the left and you will eventually find a hold in the invisible wall. Now you can get to the rest of Silver's section and play it as Sonic, you will need to skip parts with Purple Gem. When you get to the end, don't go down the stairs, instead Purple Gem jump to the platform ahead and you will find another Sonic standing there waiting for you! See Knuckles' Ending Pose! (based on video from Sonic Cult and trying it myself) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Knuckles is the only playable character in the game that doesn't finish a mission, so what does he do and say when he finishes a level? To find out, play Sonic's Flame Core. When you are Knuckles, go to the highest light in the room and glide to the right and climb up that wall. At the top, keep pressing up while jumping. You should be able to easily glitch to the other side of the wall if you keep trying, but start gliding right away or you will fall into a black pit. Glide to the left and make it to the checkpoint. You will see Sonic standing there, but don't touch him, but for some reason if you want to see his ending pose you have to touch the checkpoint. Now you can play the rest of Flame Core as Knuckles and finish the level as him, but note you cannot climb on walls in this section. Foolin' around in Soleanna: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Various little things I have observed playing around... Freak out humans/dogs: Pretty easy one to notice, if you attack a human/dog, they will react in various ways, a human will often scream and will even get out of a chair if they are sitting down, while a dog will bark at you. Soccer Craziness! (Or football if you prefer) Early in Silver's Episode when you are first in the Forest Town Area, you will find a soccer ball, when you find it you can pick it up with pk and kick it and stuff all around. Ride the Gondolas! Just jump on in, the people already in the boats don't seem to mind. Your support/amigo character will go crazy however and might keep falling in the water and dying over and over again... Play with the Giant Empty Barrel! There is a giant empty barrel near Wave Ocean's entrance you can jump in. Silver can also pick it up. It's weird to make it roll on it's side and then try to jump in it. Also, I once somehow got Silver and Blaze the barrel when it was on it's side, then picked it up with his pk, and it landed and the barrel flipped perfectly on top of both of them bottom-side up. I was never able to repeat that... Amigo jumping all over a person... If you position yourself and your support character just right, that character will jump like crazy to get to you next to a person, while the human just stands there, head going crazy up and down looking at your Amigo. Kill your Amigo! I notice this happens when your support character has just died some other way, like by falling in the water, and they reappear on ground that is below you in level, I think... anyway, they die randomly and just lie there with their eyes open and will not move unless you walk a good distance away from them. More creepy than anything. Silver's Apple Festival S-rank Glitch: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ This is more of a helpful glitch but it's kind of funny you can get an S-rank by killing yourself, just put in 50 apples into the barrels, then jump off the side of the bridge. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 20.
