The battery is at a un marked location were you would break down at a diner. In the back of the diner there will be a few walkers but not to many.Look next to the trash cans and the battery should be back there.
In the plains: (randomly generated) I found mine in between the busses.
I found mine in the trailer park area. Between two houses on the right.
