Kill the darkness?

Okay, Im not sure if Im supposed to kill the darkness or not. If I am, at what point in the game do I attempt this? I have already beat the game, on easy mode of course, but I want to go to normal mode. And If I do kill the darkness, does that automatically end the game? Im very lost on this. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!

You can't actually kill the Darkness, there's no way to do it. Since you already beat the game you know the ending and what happens so no, there's no way to kill the Darkness.
