For example, from Indy to Jock, or Willie, etc. I want to be able to do this "Go back in the room with the bazooka and turn into Jock" But I don't know how!

Use the trigger buttons. It tells you that on free play. If you are doing story and there is a person beside you, use Y.
If you are playingg with a friend then you cannot switch players in stroy mode unless their is at least 3 people in your entourage.
I found that when my husband and I were playing together one had to die and the other pressed c. I don't know if there is a better way but that is what worked for me.
