Can I still talk to the crazy jailed guy about exposing Lady Grey even if I defeat Thunder in combat for her/killing Thunder for the sake of being evil in the main questline? I'm asking this because I need the silver key that is only accessible by being taken down there from one of Thunder's attacks, but I still wish to marry Lady Grey using the alternative method (her resort to keep me from exposing her).

You can get the silver key without marrying lady grey. If you find her sister and choose to then NOT marry her you will become the new mayor of bowerstone, getting access to the house.
