Question for The Godfather

Hey just a quick question, I know this game isnt like GTA in this aspect but I was reading another forum on the godfather and I found out that you can get one of your family members to become your bodyguard,(like on GTA), but you can't order him around, is this true? And if it is how do you do it? Thanks for the help.

You can't get anyone to be your bodyguard but on some missions sonny or micheal or just some dudes will go with you and they don't die so let them go first.

You can only do it on the PS3.
