With a gun, keep shooting. If you run out of guns, try to find another. Another note with a gun. When it's still alive, your gun will be pointing directly at the mutate. If you don't have guns and can't find any more, jump on the mutate with X and feed until it's dead.

You have to completely destroy their bodies, either by continuous gun fire or chopping them up with your wristblades.
