How to break open frozen food?

Each animal has a "frozen" food and it says "break it open for a tasty treat"... how do you break these open?? I've tried shaking them, throwing them against the ground, etc...

but it takes along time so find a rock a drop it on the rock

For the pengines exibit, there is a ball that can melt ice, so you can put the ball on top of the frozen food and it will melt.[spoiler][/spoiler]
