You don't need to 'download' Pokemon, you can just use Rental Passes.

You do not "need" to download Pokemon but many people who play this game prefer to use their own Pokemon because many of the rentals suck. However, if you are not able to download Pokemon then you can just use the rentals. I just use the rentals because I do not have any sort of way to download pokemon. If you do choose to download then realize that you can only do so from a Pokemon diamond or pearl game for the Nintendo DS. I think that I have stated my point, don't you?
