How do you unlock Hammer Bro. and Blooper?

To get Hammer bro beat star battle with any character.
To get Blooper beat star battle with Hammer Bro.

Actually in the above answer blooper and hammer bro are reversed
So, just to clarify...
Finish Star Battle the first time with any character to get Blooper.
Then beat Star Battle again with Blooper to get Hammer Bro.
No I just beat the Star Battle on Wednesday and I got Hammer Bro. Now I'm working on getting Blooper.
In my PAL version of the game, You get Hammer Bros. By defeating the Party Tent with any character. Then you defeat the party tent again but this time with Hammer Bros. To get Blooper.

Defeat the star battle challange with any player, youu'll unlock either blooper or hammer bro, and then beat it again to unlock the player you didn't unlocked the first time. Hope this helps!!
I think you can get either Hammer Bro. or Blooper first. I got Blooper first (on the PAL game). Anyway, beat the Star Battle to get one of them, then beat it again with that character to get the other.
Hella old thread but I wanted to add some info I just learned.
I played through Star Battle as Boo on NTSC and faced Hammer Bro in the 6th battle.
I then replayed Star Battle as Dry Bones and, with Hammer Bro already unlocked, I face Hammer Bro again. I beat Star Battle and Blooper was still locked.
You MUST face Blooper in the 6th Star Battle to unlock him.
I highly, highly recommend that you play your 2nd playthrough as Hammer Bro (or the character you unlocked first) to unlock Blooper.
There are some mentions online that the version of the game you play determines the character that you face in Star Battle first, Blooper for PAL and Hammer Bro for NTSC. I cannot prove this as I do not have the PAL version, and frankly don't want to play through Star Battle again. If someone could contribute their PAL experience, that'd be great.
