Don't fall off sides, avoid collisions with walls or objects, drive well and avoid getting hit by items. My personal favorites are: Toad in the Bullet Bike. Daisy in the Dolphin Dasher. Or, Waluigi in the Bowser Bike.

Avoid. Heavyweights. Never get close to them or they WILL knock you off the damn bridge in dk mountain. And if you want to win, you better come first on Mario Circuit 3, and peach gardens, cause they go ballistic in bowsers castle n64. You probably want Daisy+ Classic Dragster here for it's high acceleration, handling, miniturbo, and drift. Never go offroad, and don't take shortcuts they WILL use a lightning bolt. If you've unlocked Rosalina this becomes 3 times as hard btw. In one of my attempts she grabbed me with her tire, and slammed me into a wall.
