How do you get a boosts with a kart like you do with a motercycle, without an item

If you have wii-mote & nunchuck controls,shake the front of the wii-mote upwards.To end it,shake the front downwards.
If you have wii wheel(If you put the wheel on the remote,don't put it on the remote with a bike.),shake the top of it backwards.To stop,shake it downwards.
If you have a GC controller,press up on the D-pad.To stop,press down on the D-pad.
If you have wii-mote & classic controller(You only touch the classic controller when playing MK),I am not sure.
By the way,those tricks are for bikes only.Bikes are for speed & karts are for weight.
