How do you get the red hat that is under the rock on the other side of the water?

You have to beat up one of the large crabs until it goes timid, then get close enough and 'ride' it like a vehicle. Once you press the C button to mount the crab, the hat appears.
First you need to follow the giant crab around the beach until the C is above it. Then press C to ride it. After you ride it for a little bit, the red hat appears over the rock. Get excited because if I remember right, this hat is the minikit finder.
You get the medalion from jacks compass and use a person that blows up stuff or use jacoby
Keep bashing a crab until it lets you ride it and the hat will appear.
You have to follow one on the big crabs untell it takes a return than you can jump on it then you get the red hat
