What are they?

I know this isn't a very important question but...What are those weird casings around notes that sometimes appear?(Like in No Sleep Till Brookyln,Drums on hard mode.Some notes will have them.)

If you mean that the notes have a purpleish tint, then it means you can tap strum(by using the[i think it's called this]slide bar on the fret bar)

On drums it means you just have to hit it harder

No, it's just a thing that I can't remember what it was called. but for example, the yellow notes are the hi-hat notes, right? In rl theres a separate pedal for that (to open and close it) so when theres a casing note, I'm guessing it means that the things is open. Because if you listen to it when you hit it, it sounds like it. anyway, thats just my guess.
