So I used the passwords to get the fighters that come equipped with the red potara z items I believe it's called. My question is, if there's a way to use those fighters on net battle with the red z items. If anyone can answer this, it would be a big help.

Hello the awnser to your question is : I think that you can't do that
To be more precise, you can only use them in Duels. Using them online would be unfair to others, so the game has them opted out for everything but Duel matches. Its better to play as your own character in game because if you're at a disadvantage it would help you play much better instead of depend on those characters.
