Getting Started with the Game

Not sure if something is wrong with my game, but I can only move the guy in a small circle, I did find Ben, do I need to talk to Ben?

I can climb the tree stand but I can not see any game and I can only move a little ways. The book that came with the game doesn't really help.

When you start game go down the left trail. There are fox you can shoot as you go. When you reach checkpoint keep going until you come to tree stand. Click A button to enter stand. Start looking from right to left until you find a deer. Sometimes you can use hunter sense(clicking Z button on the nun chuk. I have about a 150-160 degree sweep when I do this.
