Any advice on catching a tarantula?

I have been bitten twice by a tarantula and had one jump over the side of the cliff by the waterfall and disappear while I was trying to get my net ready. I would love some tips on how to catch the darn thing! Any advise?

The easiest way to catch them(in my experience) is to just walk around your town until you find one. If you can't find one, go into a building and walk around again. When you find one, make sure you don't scare it by walking too fast because it will run away. Also make sure you don't walk too fast with your net out or it will chase you. Then, you wait until it stops moving and get your net out and walk really slowly up to it and swing your net when you can reach it.

does the same thing work with a scorpian because the first time i ever saw one (I just happened to have my net out) i heard a loud hissing noise and it jumped off the side of the cliff to sting me!
then it just lokked at the neighbor (who also had a net) and just walked away without even stinging her!
(True) (bugs hate me, fish love me)

I still haven't caught the tarantula or the scorpian, but have learned a few valuable lessons. 1. Never walk around with your net out during their "out" times. You're just asking to be attacked.
2. I've found that if I just go down to the beach and fish, one of them "joins me" within 15-20 min. I spend more time watching the beach behind me than the fish in the ocean.
3. Try not to have any other tools in your pocket. You need to be able to get to your net quickly.
4. The scropion is definitely easier to follow (somewhat calmly chase - still without the net).
5. The tarantula likes to dive into the river or sea to escape, so you don't have much time to make your move with him.
6. The tarantula also "disappears" behind trees. The amount of time to take action with him is very limited.
7. Once either one has shown up, that's it for the night (at least in my experience). No amount of going into buildings and walking around has changed that so far.
8. I have successfully "herded" the scropion to an area where I could get him walking away from me in an almost straight line up a narrow path, so that I could quickly get out my net and swing. It's really a timing issue (sort of like the one good swing you can get in with the bees swarming around you) and total luck on the timing of it.
