Introduction

The relentless Queen of Hel and her many legions have over thrown the realm you live in. As Hell�s beast strikes you down, the mightiest warrior from your village, you are then called upon by the former ruler of Asgard to be her loyal soldier and fight to take back your realm. Lucky for you your Queen granted you with the gift of immortality.
From here you path is set to take down many relentless legions in the fight to recover supplies and fighting men to raise an army. You are armed with a sword and an axe that can equip three elemental powers that will help burn through enemies.

Graphics

The graphics of Vikings are fairly impressive; all aspects of the environment are well represented with the surroundings changing from lush green fields to snow bound hills and deep larva crevasses. The actions of the characters are also very well presented with fluid running, jumping, climbing and fighting.
The in game story telling are cut scenes of character drawings or comic like pictures, which could have been better, but didn�t feature to many times in the game.

Sound

The sound quality of the game was good. There were different background tracks that fitted well with the current environment and that also heightened the situation. The voices of the characters were also well distinguished, all with accents and different levels of intensity. The sound quality of the war battles was also very well done, powerful setting music with the entire army herd with war cries.

Gameplay

The game play of Vikings is very entertaining. Each different land mass has different missions and backdrops which change the way you play the game. Some missions have heavy defences that require stealth where others have low defence with either scattered archers or shielded legions accompanied by a legion giant or champion. At different stages of the game you are required to upgrade your sword to take down bigger and tougher enemies. Also at each mission levels there is a black smith that can harness the energy of ice, fire and lighting and forge the power into your blades. From here you can invoke major damage into surrounding enemies or just single out one and totally blast him away. Once either power is invoked all immediate fellow Asgard army men also have the power to unleash.
There are also a few training grounds scattered around the map where different and more effective moves can be learnt. These moves will aid you greatly in triumph over Hell�s army.

Lastability

This game provided with about a week of first class entertainment. Vikings does have the potential to be a game played by many and last awhile on the market place. However it doesn�t have online multiplayer and once completed on the hardest difficulty doesn�t provide much motivation to be played more.

Overall

Overall this is a fantastic game, finally an original game that provides a vast difference to other new games on the shelf. Viking: Battle for Asgard offers next generation graphics and game play with hours of entertainment and enjoyment. I would recommend giving this game a go, as it is a personal favourite of mine.
