How to get the Antler Pickaxe

You will need a Hard Antler in order to craft your first Pickaxe in Valheim and the only way in which you can get this item is by defeating the first boss, Eikthyr. This creature is a huge stag that is a formidable foe and to have any chance of defeating it you will need to come prepared for the fight with the best possible starting gear, weaponry, and food that is available at that stage of the game. Once you defeat Eikthyr it will drop three Hard Antlers that you can use to craft the Antler Pickaxe at a Workbench, it is important that you craft the Antler Pickaxe as it will enable you to mine Tin and Copper which will allow you to unlock and craft higher tiers of Pickaxe.

Once you are prepared to take on Eikthyr you can summon it by placing two deer trophies which you need to find by hunting deer on it's altar which you should have already found. To defeat this boss you need to be patient making sure you block when he charges or rears up, and dodge or strafe around to get in a few hits on his flanks before he runs away. Eventually if you employ this tactic you will whittle Eikthyr down until the boss is defeated.

Once you have the Hard Antlers Eikthyr drops when defeated you will be able to craft the Antler Pickaxe at a Level 2 Workbench or higher. The Antler Pickaxe also requires x10 Wood.
