The best weapons in Valheim are the special weapons, these have their own unique names and abilities, and they will cost you some of the rarest materials in the game to obtain them. The best of these special weapons is the Abyssal Harpoon, it is a one-handed weapon that you throw at your target and can then draw back to yourself.

The Abyssal Harpoon comes in particularly useful when you are hunting any creature that has a tendency to run away, or for dragging sea creatures out of the water to die on dry land. Although it is not the strongest weapon in regard to the amount of damage it can deal it's overall range and utility makes it one of the best weapons in the game to have. The Abyssal Harpoon is also extremely effective when it is paired with a smaller melee weapon if you use it to pull in a target and then switch.

Crafting the Abyssal harpoon costs x30 pieces of Chitin, x8 Fine wood, and x3 Leather scraps. You will be able to collect Chitin by mining abyssal barnacles out in the ocean near islands.
