This game has miniature 2D worms going to battle, against other...2D Worms. You play as your team, and pit against another team, on a map, of ice, or desert land.
The aim of the game to to eliminate all of your opponents, by causing them damage. You do this by making your Worms select gadgets, or devices to lob at, or tactically use to your advantage.
Each Worm has only 45 seconds to take their turn, selecting the device, and applying it, taking the wind into consideration.
This is one example of something that works better in 2D, for when the game turned 3D, it felt as there was something...missing. So back comes the 2D version, with the side-on view, instead of the blobby cartoon style 3D.
The maps could be better, but all is good as you play, hiding beside the red post box, the explosions look whacky, as the cute little Worms fire their bazooka, as it misses to their dismay.
The sound adds the great humour part to this game, as the background music goes on, your Worms meaninglessly mutter words, of wanting to harm, towards the others worms, as the the little creatures show their emotions, as they utter 'Traitor' and 'Fire!' ' Stupid' in their little squeeky voices.
You can hear, every weapons has their own sound, you can hear the Homing Missile bleeping it's way toward the target, Air Strikes bearing down from the sky, Mines counting down to activation, as the Sheep Bomb, 'Baa's 'it's way, intimidating the opponents as it bounces across the map.
This game offers quite a lot of things to do, for example the Challenge mode, offers 20 playable maps of increasing difficulty, difficult levels to mention would be 13, 19 and 20, as they provide many hair tearing moments, as your Worms creep ever closer to victory, but their perfectly accurate, and timed shots, take victory from your grasp.
The game also offers free-play mode, allowing you to generate a costom map of your choice, plotting mines where you feel, and making your very own Team to compete and cause damage to the opposing Worms.
This game also offers online, and offline multiplayer, where you can challenge your best mates to a game of Worms, or you can play the worlds Worming gods online!
This game also has downloadable content, expanding it's music, sound effect, and different themes for the maps.
The Challenge mode, gives you a few hours of trying to pass through the levels to level 20. This can take a while, as the difficulty increases, and makes the game last longer offline.
However it takes a long while to get bored of this excellent game, as you can play online multiplayer, against people across the world through Xbox Live, learning different tactics, and different ways to hide away from superior enemies.
This game does last a very long while, but can eventually get boring as their are not enough different looks, even though the downloadable pack is out, still it always seems the same.
I give this game 8/10, I simply enjoyed playing this game for hours on end, with my mates, and random people online. Team 17 released this game through the Xbox Live Arcade, and it has seemingly taken off, with many people spending 800MP to get it.
The way you get to chose your own favourite map on free play, and play with your costom made teams, for example rappers, versus rockers, have D12 take on the mighty Sum 41, as the gladiators battle it out.
Challenge mode was difficult, on three different levels, and you need a lot of tactical knowhow to complete these levels, and get your Achievement. Thats when online multiplayer comes in hany, as you learn different ways of picking off opponents from the masters.
